A Seven-Storey Lodge Built Around Exploration

An Expedition Concept Across Four Regions
The property is conceived as an adventure-themed lodge rather than a single film-franchise hotel. Its identity follows exploration and discovery through four regional settings—Asia, Oceania, South America and Africa—expressed across the architecture, interiors and landscape.
Four Wings, One Central Social Hub
The seven-storey building uses four wings around a central core, with restaurants, retail and access to outdoor leisure areas concentrated around a central social hub. Walt Disney Imagineering is identified as the architect for the overall concept.
Themed Gardens as Landscape Architecture
The four geographic themes continue into distinct tropical garden zones, each designed as a separate environment linked to its regional identity. The gardens are integral to the public-space layout rather than simply decorative surroundings.
Themed Accommodation Facing Gardens or Sea

Four Room Categories with Regional Interiors
The 750-room accommodation programme comprises Standard Room, Deluxe Room, Premium Room and Sea View Room categories. Interiors are furnished according to the lodge’s four tropical themes, with the emphasis on explorers’ journeys through different world regions rather than character-based design.
Garden and Sea Orientations
Guestrooms face either the landscaped gardens or the sea, giving the accommodation product two distinct outlooks within the resort’s tropical setting. The Sea View Room category is specifically identified in the property’s official factsheet material.
Connecting and Accessible Room Options
The room inventory includes connecting rooms and accessible rooms, providing distinct layout and access options within the larger accommodation programme.
A Five-Continent Dining Collection

Dragon Wind and World of Color
Dragon Wind is the Chinese restaurant, with service inspired by the Five Elements concept. World of Color Restaurant combines flavours from the “new and old worlds” and presents international cuisines connected with the hotel’s five-continent dining theme.
Chart Room Café and In-Room Dining
Chart Room Café is the informal venue for breakfast, sandwiches, café-style food and quick-service items. In-room dining provides a separate dining format within the guest accommodation.
Raindrop Pool Among Sea-facing Tropical Gardens

The Resort’s Main Water Feature
Raindrop Pool, also written as Rain Drop Pool in some property references, is an outdoor swimming pool set between the hotel wings on the sea-facing side of the resort. It overlooks the South China Sea and is surrounded by verdant gardens.
A Landscaped Central Resort Setting
The outdoor leisure area is integrated into the central resort complex, alongside the four themed garden environments. Open coastal outlooks, tropical planting and pedestrian routes shape the outdoor experience around the hotel.
Exploration-themed Resort Facilities

Retail and Shared Resort Spaces
A retail shop forms part of the public realm, while the central social hub connects the hotel’s restaurants with access to the outdoor leisure areas and themed gardens.
Resort and Airport Transport
Resort shuttle references and airport shuttle bus service support movement between the hotel, the wider Disneyland Resort area and the airport.
Lantau Island’s Master-planned Disney Resort Setting

Within Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
The hotel is located on Lantau Island in Hong Kong’s Outlying Islands district, within a master-planned resort zone whose immediate setting includes Disney’s other hotels, the theme park and resort circulation routes.
Seafront Landscape Rather Than Urban Streets
The surrounding environment is defined by landscaped resort gardens, pedestrian paths and open views toward the South China Sea, rather than dense city streets or a conventional urban neighbourhood.
Transport Centred on the Disneyland Area
Access is organised around the Disneyland Resort network, with resort transport and airport shuttle bus service connecting the property to the wider resort area and airport.

Guest reviews
We analysed 5,282 reviews and found 875 containing specific, useful feedback about Disney Explorers Lodge. The feedback is organised by topic so you can quickly see what guests say about the property.
Overall: What guests say
679 relevant reviewsGuests often praise the immersive Disney atmosphere, character encounters, clean and comfortable rooms, and family-friendly stay. Families with children find it especially enjoyable, and many would return. Recurring drawbacks are high room and food prices, with some guests finding the value poor. One guest reported bed bugs and no follow-up; another did not receive a promised room upgrade or complimentary drink.
See the evidence
However, bed bugs combined with no follow-up from the hotel mean we can’t overlook our experience.
The price of the rooms and food are obscenely high. Especially the food in both hotel and park, which does not commensurate with the taste.
Brilliant resort, perfect for families with kids, clean, friendly & welcoming. & so many characters wondering around the resort! 10/10 recommend!
We did not get that room upgrade (which would have saved us from waiting hours for our room) or that complimentary drink.See all reviews about overall
Rooms: What guests say
576 relevant reviewsRooms are repeatedly described as spacious, clean, comfortable, and family-friendly, with coffee makers and filtered water stations; some offer pool or ocean views. Themed details and children’s amenities are appreciated. A recurring complaint is very firm beds and pillows. A few guests reported bedbug bites, and others mentioned noise from neighboring rooms or the extractor fan.
See the evidence
The room was spacious and clean. Bathroom and shower was clean and had good water pressure & temp. Towels changed daily and rooms were cleaned daily.
The room was well equipped with a coffee maker and a filtered water station, which I found very convenient. The vanity area was a good size and included a magnifying mirror. There was only a shower (no bathtub), but it was spacious and worked well.
The beds were extremely hard, and I sleep on a firm mattress but this was way too hard. Maybe mattress toppers could be available if people wanted them.
My husband and I have 30+ bites each and during our 2nd night stay, we barely slept as we were itching so badly.See all reviews about rooms
Facilities: What guests say
450 relevant reviewsGuests repeatedly praised the hotel’s immersive Disney/explorer theming, exceptionally clean and well-maintained facilities, and beautiful gardens. Families appreciated character appearances, crafts, and other activities, though some found the kids’ facilities limited or unsuitable for older children. Guests also noted the lack of a convenience store and unreliable Wi-Fi.
See the evidence
The hotel is stunning - the moment you enter the gateway you are transformed into a jungle adventure with lush beautiful plants and exotic trees.
They also have kids activities all day and story time at night in English and Chinese. There is an indoor playground on site which my kids loved.
The activities on site probably weren’t as fulfilling as we thought they would be. The pedal cars were only very VERY small children and so was the play room.
The only thing that frustrated me about this hotel is the unreliable wifi. I can sometimes connect to it and sometimes can't.See all reviews about facilities
Location: What guests say
447 relevant reviewsThe hotel is highly convenient for Hong Kong Disneyland, with guests describing a short walk or quick shuttle and the ability to return for a break; some also mention a special park entrance line. It is isolated from shops and other restaurants, leaving limited, expensive food options, and is far from central Hong Kong.
See the evidence
The shuttle to the park is very convenient, and the wait is never too long.
Its very convenient specially if you want to go in and out of disneyland.
There is a 7-Eleven nearby where you can stock up on water, bread, etc., since the food at the hotel isn't exactly cheap.
The location is conveniently close to Disney, although far from everything else.See all reviews about location
Staff: What guests say
456 relevant reviewsStaff are most often described as friendly, helpful, polite, and especially accommodating to families—sometimes arranging cots, birthday surprises, or assistance with injuries and medical needs. Concierge and luggage teams receive particular praise. Some guests report cold or unfriendly service, unanswered complaints, limited help, and occasional English-language communication difficulties.
See the evidence
The staff are extremely polite and go out of their way to assist you. I have never experienced such wonderful courtesy and service.
Special thanks to staff member KC who went out of his way to help our tired family of 7 and for making some magical moments for the kids, just made the stay more special.
After returning home, we emailed the hotel to report what had happened, but never received any response or acknowledgement. The lack of communication and customer service was very disappointing and left us feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously.
Sometimes the language barrier meant that communication with reception staff did not always get us answers to our questions, but they were always kind and Google Translate was helpful.See all reviews about staff
Restaurant: What guests say
386 relevant reviewsThe hotel has several restaurants, with guests often praising the food at Dragon Wind and the more casual Chart Room Cafe. The recurring drawback is high prices, often judged poor value for average quality and modest portions. Guests also report limited variety, especially for vegetarians, children, and people seeking Western or allergy-safe options; weekday lounge hours can be restricted.
See the evidence
Food is ridiculously expensive and not even that good. You end up paying high prices for very ordinary meals.
one has to depend on the hotel restaurant for all meals which are not only very expensive but lack variety - specially for vegetarians.
There was no option to just order and pay a la carte. In the evening, there were no food options for a light snack that did not contain nuts - and the things that were marked as nut free, when I inquired, were not actually safe.
The hotel's buffet restaurants are very expensive, but fortunately Chart Room is a little more affordable, and every dish is delicious 😋See all reviews about restaurant
Transport: What guests say
314 relevant reviewsThe free shuttle to Disneyland is the standout: guests repeatedly describe it as quick, frequent, well organized, and easy to catch just outside the hotel, often running every 10–20 minutes and taking about five minutes. Some report crowded buses after park closing, and one guest waited over 30 minutes in the heat. Airport taxis are easy to get; reaching other destinations may require a bus and the MTR.
See the evidence
Transportation was especially easy—the shuttle to the park officially runs every 10–15 minutes, and in practice I never waited more than about 5 minutes. There are also shuttles to the other Disney hotels. You could technically walk to the park, but the shuttle is so convenient that I didn’t feel the need.
It’s a short shuttle bus ride from the park - which were regular and well organised - I never had to wait long, even when the theme park was closing.
Also, because there are so many guest rooms, I felt that the buses after the park closed were more crowded than at other hotels.
The buses to Disneyland did not run on schedule, and there were times when we had to wait more than 30 minutes outside in the heat to get back to the hotel from the park.See all reviews about transport
Breakfast: What guests say
207 relevant reviewsBreakfast is often praised for its tasty food and broad Western and Asian buffet selection, with Disney character appearances a major draw for families. However, many guests consider it expensive, especially for children, and report limited choices for picky eaters or dietary needs. The buffet can feel rushed because of its short serving window.
See the evidence
We ate at the buffet breakfast and it has a large selection of western and Asian cusine. Is a bit pricy for children who do not eat much food.
There was very limited options for fussy food kids or allergies. Only eggs served for breakfast in the cafe so we were forced to the expensive buffet but our kids only ate cereal.
We mainly booked the character breakfast for the photo opportunities, and it delivered! Just keep in mind, the atmosphere is lively, loud, and not particularly relaxing—more about fun than calm.
Breakfast only 1 hour long.See all reviews about breakfast
Pool: What guests say
183 relevant reviewsGuests often praised the clean, attractive outdoor pool and gardens as a relaxing highlight, especially for families; shallow areas, life jackets, swim rings, towels, and lifeguards were noted. Some found it small, and there is no hot tub at this hotel. Repeated complaints concerned closures for maintenance, seasonal weather, or drainage, sometimes without clear notice when booking; guests could use pools at the other Disney hotels.
See the evidence
The pool was fantastic, especially for families, and one of the highlights of our stay.
The pool is huge and beautiful. However it was closed for maintenance when we went.
The pool being shut is not made at all apparent when booking the resort!
The outdoor pool was lovely with a great atmosphere, and there were lifeguards on duty. Although this hotel doesn’t have a hot tub, you can use the pools (including hot tubs) at the other two Disney hotels, which is a nice perk.See all reviews about pool
Check-in / Check-out: What guests say
118 relevant reviewsCheck-in and checkout are often described as quick and smooth, with convenient luggage storage and occasional early room access or late checkout. Early check-in is not guaranteed: guests report long waits when rooms are unready, difficulty arranging it, and sometimes an extra charge for an upgrade. Some guests also encountered slow queues or unhelpful service.
See the evidence
We checked in early and were told that we would be notified when our room was ready - HOWEVER, if we wanted to pay extra to upgrade our room, they could immediately provide a room.
If you check in before your room is ready, you’ll receive an SMS when it is.
Check in is quick and you can check in early as they will hold the luggage till the room is ready.
There was only one person at reception before 8 a.m., so I had to wait quite a while while they processed the previous guest.See all reviews about check-in / check-out
