A Sleek Lifestyle Hotel within Metrasquare

Contemporary urban-resort identity

The hotel is positioned as a sleek lifestyle property in Ayer Keroh, combining a modern business-and-leisure identity with the scale of a full-service hotel rather than a heritage or boutique concept. Its contemporary design vocabulary includes elegant lighting, high ceilings and modern public spaces.

Part of a six-acre commercial development

AMES forms part of the six-acre Metrasquare development, planned as a mixed-use destination incorporating the hotel, serviced suites, retail lots, meeting and conference facilities, food-and-beverage outlets, an upcoming historical gallery and an art social space.

Event architecture at the centre

The property’s shared-space identity is anchored by the column-free Grand Raja Chulan Ballroom and multiple contemporary function rooms. The ballroom includes a large LED screen and high-tech audiovisual equipment, reinforcing the hotel’s role in conferences, banquets and weddings.

302 Bedrooms across a Modern Ayer Keroh Hotel

Large-scale full-service accommodation

The hotel provides 302 bedrooms across a 10-floor building, giving it the accommodation scale of a substantial business-and-leisure property in Ayer Keroh. Room availability is distributed through mainstream booking channels, supporting both short leisure stays and event-led visits.

Rooftop Moon Bar and Metrasquare Food-and-Beverage Spaces

The rooftop Moon Bar

The rooftop Moon Bar is the property’s named bar venue and one of its distinctive leisure features, adding a rooftop setting to the hotel’s contemporary food-and-beverage offer.

All-day dining functions and event catering

The hotel provides restaurant functions for breakfast, lunch and dinner, alongside room service. Its broader food-and-beverage offer is linked to the Metrasquare development, while meeting packages support seminars, conferences and weddings with tea breaks, lunch, bottled water, stationery and PA equipment.

Separate Swimming and Children’s Pools in Ayer Keroh

Two on-site pool areas

The property has a swimming pool and a separate kid’s pool. Both are confirmed as on-site leisure facilities, giving the hotel distinct water spaces for general use and younger swimmers.

A suburban base beyond Melaka’s historic core

Ayer Keroh provides the hotel’s wider outdoor context: a quieter district associated with attractions, government offices, exhibition and education uses, and access to leisure destinations beyond Melaka’s dense historic centre.

Hammam, Yoga and Round-the-Clock Fitness

Silk-road hammam spa

The hotel’s wellness offer includes a silk-road hammam spa, presented as a facility for both resident guests and destination spa users. Its hammam concept is the most distinctive element of the property’s treatment and relaxation provision.

24-hour gymnasium and yoga studio

A 24-hour gymnasium supports flexible exercise schedules, while a dedicated yoga studio adds a separate space for yoga-based activity. These facilities form part of the hotel’s confirmed leisure and wellness mix.

A substantial conference and banquet operation

The hotel has five meeting rooms, 988 square metres of total event space and a column-free Grand Raja Chulan Ballroom. The ballroom is equipped with a large LED screen and high-tech audiovisual equipment, with listed capacities ranging from 600 to 800 people across event specifications.

      Overall: What guests say

      172 relevant reviews

Guests often describe Ames Hotel as clean, spacious, comfortable, family-friendly, and staffed by friendly, attentive people, with good breakfast variety, easy parking, pleasant ambience, and a strong rooftop bar. However, repeated concerns include dated or poorly maintained facilities, food needing improvement, pest control, occasional poor views, a three-hour blackout without explanation or compensation, and pricing that feels high for a property some consider below five-star standards.

      See the evidence
The hotel is very spacious and clean.
Parking is easy and the breakfast is good with a variety of choices.
The only downside is the building had a sudden blackout for 3 hours but there is no explanation or compensation from the hotel.
Although this hotel is rated 5 stars, I feel it is overrated compared to other hotels in Melaka.

      Location: What guests say

      158 relevant reviews

The hotel is quiet and convenient for Ayer Keroh attractions, MITC, the zoo, and highway stopovers, but it is secluded and far from Melaka’s centre and tourist areas, typically requiring a 30–40-minute drive and a car. Nearby shops and restaurants are limited, while dim, deserted surroundings can feel eerie at night.

      See the evidence
Far from town centre and all the tourist spots so if you’re looking to go see the sites, expect a minimum 30-40 minute drive.
Location is near to Ayer Keroh exit, Taman Buaya, taman Mini Malaysia which good for those looking to stop over Melacca for short stay without going to town.
At night, the area is really quiet and streets have limited and dim lighting so it can be dodgy driving around the property at night.
Not much food options nearby/walking distance.

      47 relevant reviews

Guests repeatedly praise the varied, delicious food at The Munch, especially breakfast, spacious dining area, and value-for-money à la carte meals. However, room-service and some buffet dishes are inconsistent, desserts and coffee disappoint some guests, prices can feel high, and restaurant tables may be unclean.

      See the evidence
The chef at moon bar needs to be complimented. He's cooking is excellent. We enjoyed his food especially the pizza, the chicken dish and the dessert, are all excellent!
We also liked the Munch which served decent food which I was comfortable eating for a few days in a row when we didn’t want to drive into Melaka.
The room service food quality is terrible. The price is freaking expensive but the food is a let down.
there was a miscommunication at Munch Restaurant when we wanted to order ala carte lunch as buffet served.

      See the evidence
The swimming pool is small and not user-friendly..
The pool area looked fine, but the pool itself was extremely dirty with leaves and debris, making it uninviting.
The pool setting and environment...not save at all for the kids....
during our stay yesterday there was a little boy drowned inside the pool....thank god people around managed to get the poor child from the pool and waited for the ambulance to come....it took almost 30 minutes for the management to come over to look upon the situation.....
