Guests often describe Ames Hotel as clean, spacious, comfortable, family-friendly, and staffed by friendly, attentive people, with good breakfast variety, easy parking, pleasant ambience, and a strong rooftop bar. However, repeated concerns include dated or poorly maintained facilities, food needing improvement, pest control, occasional poor views, a three-hour blackout without explanation or compensation, and pricing that feels high for a property some consider below five-star standards.

★ 7.0Couple

The only downside is the building had a sudden blackout for 3 hours but there is no explanation or compensation from the hotel.

Rooms: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

365 relevant reviews

Rooms are repeatedly described as spacious, clean, comfortable, and furnished with large, comfortable beds and bathtubs. However, recurring complaints include mold, hair, dirt, clogged or leaking bathroom fixtures, dusty windows, aging furnishings, poor lighting, weak air-conditioning, and limited views. Some rooms are noisy, with occasional missing or faulty amenities.

The ceiling was leaking the whole night and bed sheet was dirty with strands of hair and dirt on it ( we did not ask for change of room as it was late : 1.30am). Room 534

★ 2.0Family with Children

Nothing much, just that the air conditioning is not cold enough because the bed is a bit far from the air conditioning and takes a while to cool down (room 0613)..

★ 9.0Family with Children

My parents have health issues especially with their legs so it was tough for them to climb up the bed and to get into the bath tub.

★ 8.0Family with Children

In front of the door of my room, there was one glass of water that had been used and was still there until check out.

★ 7.0Extended Group

Room facilities such as Aircond and telephone need to upgrade as we found the Aircond was not service and the telephone was not functioning

★ 9.0Family with Young Children

The bathroom drain was clogged and maintenance removed a large amount of hair, which was clearly not ours, showing poor room inspection.

★ 2.0Family with Children

The room, the complimentary cake for our anniversary, the bed, and the nice smell of the hotel in the lobby area.

★ 7.0Solo Traveller

They are very clean and contain all you would expect in a high end hotel (safe, iron, hair dryer, toiletries, etc...)

★ 9.0Family with Children

If the pillows would be a little firmer as it felt like it wasn't enough support on the head.

★ 9.0Extended Group

It is pretty minor minus point, but is a bit distracting to sleep in the dark at night.

★ 8.0Couple

I was very dissapointed for that, and also the air-conditioner took a lot of time to get cool.

★ 6.0Family with Children

The room(view), a big let down as the picture from the booking.com is diffrent then the actual.

★ 6.0Family with Children

The lighting was dim, and even the corridor outside the room was quite dark before entering.

★ 8.0Family with Children

The room was spacious, modern design with a nice bathroom and a very comfort bed area.

★ 8.0Business Travellers

The mattress and protector are dirty with a lot of hair like never vacuum it;

★ 4.0Family with Children

The phone in the room was not working and 4G is slow in the room.

★ 6.0Family with Children

We had a room opposite a square which had really loud music until 11pm.

★ 5.0Couple

We thought our room had a bathtub but we just got a shower booth.

★ 7.0Family with Children

It will be helpful for moms who want to store their child's milk.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Happy with the room, but there are few things that are not acceptable:

★ 5.0Solo Traveller

When u dry yourself near the bathtub, your towel will definitely get wet.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Ditempat shower di dlm tandas bilik, slps mndi bertakung air.take time to reduce.

★ 6.0Couple

Upon checking in, I noticed a strong cigarette smell in the room.

★ 10.0Family with Children

However after informing the reception, they were quick to replace the sheets.

★ 8.0Couple

The room was spacious and i like that they have bathtub.

★ 10.0Family with Children

I want the hotel to give me the right room for customer at the 1st place and respect the rm1,200 payment made and should given me the right clean and tidy room near lift as i was tired travelling from KL to melaka …

★ 4.0Couple

Room had strange smell and very dull in room and corridors also curtains very dusty moved with hand and hand covered in white dust maybe from some type of building work vents in room also covered with dust never been cleaned

★ 7.0Extended Group

The bathroom you need to climb and have a bath in bath tub - OMG what year we are talking about now? This is soooo old school and too dangerous as it can be slippery in the toilet.

★ 4.0Family with Children

Room was filthy, mould growing around bath, urine under toilet seat, dirty finger marks on TV remote holder, yellow stains on bed underblanket, public hairs in show/bath from previous guests, hairs in bed from previous guests.

★ 5.0Couple

My take is this - whatever reflected (prices, pictures and room descriptions) under booking.com must have been concurred by the hotel; but if what are shown doesn't guarantee what I'll get, then where this bring?

Breakfast: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

264 relevant reviews

Breakfast is usually praised for its variety, generous buffet, tasty food, pastries, Asian dishes, and attentive staff. However, several guests found it average, bland, salty, or limited, with occasional poor value. Recurring practical issues include weekend crowding, long waits for tables, uncleared tables, cold food, and inconsistent Ramadan or low-occupancy arrangements.

Breakfast was supposed to be a buffet, but since there were only 3 rooms occupied, we were told that breakfast was in the room. I asked for the menu and there wasn't one, so I requested if they could give us 1 café au lait, tea, buttered bread, a cake, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a fruit.

★ 1.0Couple

Breakfast had very few choices, ran out quickly and the staff was also slow to refill.. a few times I saw that if I went down late for breakfast I had to queue..

★ 7.0Couple

That women waiter when breakfast today, not friendly , no smile, and no polite look at me up and down , i dont like that attitude, please be nice with everyone

★ 10.0Couple

I came down very early each breakfast & has a quite moment for myself before the other guests started coming down.

★ 9.0Family with Children

The taste and quality of the food need to improve, but I'm not saying it's at its worst.

★ 8.0Couple

My 6 year old daughter can't find her pancakes for breakfast.. spoiled her mood.. 😞

Staff: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

262 relevant reviews

Staff are repeatedly praised as friendly, helpful, courteous, and attentive, with welcoming reception and strong service from housekeeping, F&B, and concierge teams. However, recurring issues include slow or unresponsive reception, delayed housekeeping and towels, absent welcome/bell staff, a wrong room assignment, missing baby cot, and occasional cold or unprofessional interactions.

We told the restaurant manager the next morning before checkout about the whole thing we experience, they take a photocopy of my son’s hospital record, and guess what, never hear from them anymore, this is the way they are treated the issue.

★ 1.0Family with Children

The night staff, not friendly we ask for assistance to open the door since we left it the room, the reception was 2 guys. Not smiling, not saying anything just pass to us the extra key card without even looking.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Receptionist doesn’t speak formally. Used a lot of “lahs” at the end of sentences. Normally not a big deal but if you’re going to rate the hotel as a five star property then at least have the staff act accordingly.

★ 4.0Family with Children

Statf not helpful, the room doesn't have the food menu, so I call the FO, and asked, they transfere to the restaurant, but I said I don't have the menu how am I going to oder?

★ 3.0Family with Children

Another one is when we ask for items to be sent to the room (praying mat, extra towels etc) they took such a long time to get it done.

★ 7.0Family with Children

When I started to get irritated, luckily his colleague/senior staff from the next counter heard and advised that they could accept foreign currency for deposit.

★ 8.0Family with Children

This is how a front desk hotelier should react. Not just brushing off the guests issues but empathise it and understand their issue.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Maybe due to Hari raya, lack of staff and cleaner not able to do house keeping 2days in a row.

★ 7.0Family with Children

This is my 2nd time facing this late check out not because of me but because of your staff.

★ 7.0Extended Group

Check out is 12 but hotel staff called twice at 10am and 11.15am reminding the check out time.

★ 5.0Family with Children

Having front office staff who are rude and lack manners is not in line with their appearance.

★ 1.0Family with Children

Staffs do not know how to speak English and couldn’t understand what I requested for during breakfast.

★ 6.0Solo Traveller

The staff are also helpful when I need to use the freezer for my child's milk.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Call receptionist 4 times since checked in (3pm) asking for change bath towel but no response.

★ 5.0Family with Children

Hotel staffs should be trained to handle customers politely especially the one at the front desks.

★ 8.0Family with Children

We requested for extra water sent to the room, but we only got 2 bottles.

★ 5.0Family with Children

All hotels should follow pursue - doorman is key for first and last impression.

★ 9.0Family with Children

The service staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making me feel very welcomed.

★ 10.0Couple

Excellent staff and well presented hotel; met all our needs as a famili.

★ 10.0Family with Children

Calling receptionist to inform our room's TV did not functional at all.

★ 5.0Family with Children

Not helpful at all, reserved parking but far from the other parking.

★ 6.0Couple

Friendly staff from the receptionist to the housekeeping and maintenance staff.

★ 8.0Extended Group

Although I saw the person key in request into the computer.

★ 7.0Family with Children

However the staff is so nice and keep it up.

★ 9.0Solo Traveller

Staffs was friendly and always greeted us with a smile.

★ 9.0Family with Children

We liked their friendliness and we really felt welcomed.

★ 9.0Couple

After raise a bit my voice to the receptionist

★ 5.0Couple

Very late housekeeping eventho already request 3 times.

★ 1.0Family with Children

The ambience and the staffs are so welcoming.

★ 5.0Couple

Location: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

158 relevant reviews

The hotel is quiet and convenient for Ayer Keroh attractions, MITC, the zoo, and highway stopovers, but it is secluded and far from Melaka’s centre and tourist areas, typically requiring a 30–40-minute drive and a car. Nearby shops and restaurants are limited, while dim, deserted surroundings can feel eerie at night.

Location is near to Ayer Keroh exit, Taman Buaya, taman Mini Malaysia which good for those looking to stop over Melacca for short stay without going to town.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Location is a bit far if you're planning to go see Malaka city, but perfect if you want to go to the Zoo, Botanical gardens and so on.

★ 9.0Couple

Nice to hv a new hotel near the MICT area where you dont hv to drive into the city centre eapecially when you hv business in the area.

★ 7.0Solo Traveller

I like the location because it is near the Ayer Keroh toll exit and my friends' house at Batu Berendam but not too far from the city centre.

★ 9.0Extended Group

I chose the hotel for its proximity with Melaka zoo and it was not too far from Melaka itself (Although it takes a good 25mn to get there).

★ 9.0Family with Children

I booked the property primarily for location i.e. easy in and out to the North South Highway, and in this regard, the hotel met its mark.

★ 7.0Couple

At night, the area is really quiet and streets have limited and dim lighting so it can be dodgy driving around the property at night.

★ 4.0Family with Children

Far from town centre and all the tourist spots so if you’re looking to go see the sites, expect a minimum 30-40 minute drive.

★ 4.0Family with Children

If you plan to go out after dark, it’s best not to stay out too late, as the area is quiet and dimly lit.

★ 8.0Couple

The location is a bit off surrounded by old shops & narrow lanes & kind of mismatch with the hotel building.

★ 9.0Solo Traveller

We booked this place because it was the nearest to Stadium Hang Jebat instead of going into town (40 mins).

★ 8.0Couple

Quite place which is not in town area like malacca town with full of hustle and bustle.

★ 10.0Family with Children

A golfing trip - so location to AkCC and TMGC was as good as it gets.

★ 6.0Couple

Location is not the best, but not the worst either. 20-25 minutes from the city center.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Attended a family event at the Moonbar, was recommended to stay here due to convenience.

★ 1.0Family with Children

If Malacca is a stopover for other cities, then this hotel serves its purpose.

★ 6.0Solo Traveller

I like hotel location which is not really crowded and near to the shops.

★ 10.0Family with Children

The hotel was away from town, so need a car to get around.

★ 6.0Couple

Good Place to stay eventho a bit far from the town (Banda Hilir)

★ 8.0Couple

Note: I got around by my own car, not by public transport.

★ 9.0Extended Group

The location is good for travellers going to fro Kuala Lumpur.

★ 10.0Solo Traveller

This hotel, on the outskirts of Melaka Cental, had just opened.

Facilities: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

113 relevant reviews

Facilities are mixed: many guests praise the clean, modern, comfortable interiors, breakfast, spacious parking, multiple lifts, and EV charging. Recurring concerns include a small or poorly maintained pool, inconsistent towel replacement and thin towels, bathroom defects or mold, slow lifts, dark or aging corridors, awkward lobby access, and unsecured lift access to room floors.

The only issue was that I asked for deep cleaning as my son messed up in the night at the bathroom, I called reception, gave my room number, and asked for deep cleaning... After coming at night, it was not cleaned properly...

★ 10.0Family with Children

Number 2 lobby is a bit odd, very cramped up with waiting areas on the sides which feels less welcoming but at the same time more private

★ 8.0Family with Children

Amenities in the toilet are very basic, there was no conditioner (not sure if it wasn’t replenished because the amenities box look like it was not complete).

★ 6.0Family with Children

It was freezing. All aircon is set to 19 degrees and even though there are aircon controls in the room, every re-sets to 19.

★ 5.0Couple

It’s complimentary but at these day and age, it would be good if there are more BEV chargers especially DCFC of at least 50kWh.

★ 10.0Family with Children

Don’t just supply 1 tiny bottle of each. Make a proper place to put/drill a bigger container for each for example like hilton.

★ 2.0Couple

The hallway in level 2 where I stay a bit dirty with rubbish here & there, I guest there is not enough workers?

★ 9.0Family with Children

The only good thing your EV charger😁 this is my second time here and felt like hotel customer centricity is not good …

★ 4.0Couple

The passenger lifts are slow and two out of three are under repair the first day, and only two available the next day.

★ 4.0

The amenities given with different of choices - provided english tea, camomile tea, green tea lemon, nescafe, equal, creamer and sugar.

★ 10.0Couple

We complained about the speed of the drainage of the bathtub a few times but no one really looked into it.

★ 8.0Partner

The only thing leave for me is the head towel, thus I just use the head towel to dry myself.

★ 1.0Solo Traveller

Easy access to hotel rooms especially for those not staying in the hotel, outsider easily can use the hotel facility

★ 8.0Business Travellers

The shower area in the bathtub, not elderly friendly. To have a separate shower & bathtub area instead.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Had to go through the dining area to go to the lobby / car park.

★ 4.0Couple

Suggest to use anti-slip material on the bathroom's floor in your next renovation.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Don't like the patio too as it looks unkept and facing another hotel.

★ 9.0Extended Group

The decor quite lavish and themed for Christmas which is all good

★ 8.0Family with Children

They only clean the filter but we still feels quit hot.

★ 7.0Couple

Check-in / Check-out: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

71 relevant reviews

Check-in is frequently slow, with waits of 30 minutes to four hours and rooms often unavailable at the stated 3pm time, especially for multiple-room bookings. Guests report wrong or occupied room assignments, faulty access cards, delayed maintenance, weak communication, and deposit-return issues. Some stays had fast, smooth check-in and checkout with friendly staff.

The staff who did my check out did not prompt for my deposit slip. I had to ask them then only she asked me for the slip. Which, I admit it slipped my mind that I had the slip but luckily I remembered I had put in deposit of RM100 during check in. Since deposits are a default for Ames, then it should be a standard check out question rather than wait for the client to present the slip.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Everything was excellent right until i need my comforter change it takes me 2 times through the phone and 1 time go at the lobby reception and on the fourth time through the phone then i get only the mattress cover..don’t know where goes wrong but im still thrilled with my stay.

★ 8.0Family with Children

I booked for 2 rooms (connecting room). Whe arrived, my rooms was not ready and was told they are searching rooms for me - shouldn't the rooms been prepared prior to my arrival as I already book them earlier?

★ 6.0Family with Children

They let me wait almost 1hour and half waiting for the door to be reset and I have to call the receptionist to remind them about my complaint for the access door still not 100% complete.

★ 1.0Solo Traveller

- When we’re done with dinner, one of the room suddenly can’t enter, when called reception, have to go down to reset the keycard, what a hassle since all of us are already tired

★ 7.0Family with Children

I went to counter to request to change the room but the staff told me that there will be maintainance staff to fix the things and refuse to change the room.

★ 7.0Family with Children

We were asked to wait 30 minutes if we want connecting rooms but after waiting we were told it was not available after all and were given side by side rooms.

★ 6.0Family with Children

Unfortunately, the receptionist said it was full house but when I checked in online booking app there is plenty of room can be booked which is unfair to told so.

★ 8.0Extended Group

I would like to give the compliment to staff on duty (during my check in and check out) IKMAL & SHANTI (sorry if name is wrong) and the trainee Achmad.

★ 9.0Couple

I texted the day before arrival for early check-in as we reached there at 3 at midnight, but there was no response, and I was charged the walk-in rate.

★ 5.0Extended Group

The technician come and change batteries, and told me to wait for other staff to reset the door and do not close the door before the reset is done.

★ 1.0Solo Traveller

Hence I had to stay in the area for another night and incurred additional cost, whilst the hotel had vacant rooms and the management could just move the date.

★ 8.0Family with Children

When I wanted to ask for check out time, I called through the phone, and then the reception immediately gave me an ultimatum 12pm as they were fully occupied.

★ 8.0Business Travellers

Best part was, they needed back the Original copy of the deposit receipt, whereby my husband asked regarding the deposit and they mentioned that it will be remitted.

★ 3.0Family with Children

Waited at the lobby for 15 mins, and after the visitor in front of me finished with the registration, i was at the counter around 3.20pm.

★ 5.0Couple

The keycards did not work when we went up to the rooms so I had to go back to reception to get them programmed.

★ 9.0Family with Children

★ 7.0Family with Children

At the end, I insist to request to change the room then the hotel management only allow to do so.

★ 7.0Family with Children

During check-in, I asked the staff whether breakfast was included, and I was informed that it was not.

★ 4.0Family with Children

Check-in was delayed and we only managed to get 1 out of 3 rooms at 3pm.

★ 8.0Family with Children

I was fine with it since it stated check in time at 3 pm.

★ 5.0Couple

It has been 2 weeks now and they haven't returned back my deposit.

★ 7.0Couple

2 times I need to come down because of the access card.

Parking: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

70 relevant reviews

Parking is often free and sometimes ample, but availability becomes limited during events or full occupancy, occasionally forcing roadside or distant parking. Repeated concerns include dark, gloomy, unsecured areas with insufficient CCTV/guards, uncovered spaces, unclear signage, and inconvenient access from multilevel parking to the lobby; some guests found parking easy.

I think the parking lot should have been secured or assigned to the hotel guests, instead of telling them that you can park anywhere available because there are also parking spaces with car numbers booked in some parking lots.

★ 8.0Family with Children

There are many car park lots just outside the hotel entrance and been blocked up with the written car number plate, probably reserved for the Senior Management Staff for easy parking, but inconvenience the hotel guest.

★ 2.0

The access to parking lot is not so easy as you have to go through the restaurant or go out of the hotel and through the ballroom entrance.

★ 8.0Couple

I did request for parking reservation but when I reached the hotel, the personnel mentioned that I supposed to call the hotel for advance parking reservation.

★ 7.0Family with Children

There were glass panels left for storage there and there are work in progress that made some of the parking area inaccessible.

★ 8.0Couple

The only available parking is street parking around the venue or at a multi-level carpark which is NOT connected to the hotel.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Parking slots are limited and can be quite isolated and far from the lobby, so be extra alert and careful.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Need clear signboard for the direction of indoor and outdoor guest's parking including signboard for the correct entrance and exit.

★ 9.0Family with Children

But they do have multilevel car park in basement but lack professional upkeep, luckily it’s free, so no further comment.

★ 10.0Family with Children

Check out at 7:30am in the morning, noticed those car park been blocked off are still empty without any car.

★ 2.0

The parking lot is not properly maintained and looks scary at night or being alone (if you are female)

★ 8.0Family with Children

But some of the areas there were quite dark, and I don't feel safe to park my car there.

★ 8.0Couple

Loads of parking at the multi-level carpark besides the hotel although it does not connect directly to the lobby

★ 8.0Couple

At 1am in the morning, hotel guest needs to park their car far away from the hotel main entrance.

Pool: What guests say

View Ames Hotel

The pool is repeatedly described as small, with limited children’s space and little family-friendly play area. Guests also report poor layout, slippery stairs, sharp edges, limited parental visibility, and occasional cleanliness or urine concerns. Positives include clear water, staff monitoring, and suitability for adults, though towels and opening hours can be inadequate.

During our stay yesterday there was a little boy drowned inside the pool....thank god people around managed to get the poor child from the pool and waited for the ambulance to come....it took almost 30 minutes for the management to come over to look upon the situation.....

Restaurant: What guests say

Guests repeatedly praise the varied, delicious food at The Munch, especially breakfast, spacious dining area, and value-for-money à la carte meals. Moonbar receives strong marks for its atmosphere, pizza, chicken, desserts, and drinks. However, room-service and some buffet dishes are inconsistent, desserts and coffee disappoint some guests, prices can feel high, and restaurant tables may be unclean.

I went to the moonbar for my birthday dinner with friends , the food was delicious, however the staff of moonbar wasn't aware of my booking/reserve that I made earlier.

★ 9.0Solo Traveller

We also liked the Munch which served decent food which I was comfortable eating for a few days in a row when we didn’t want to drive into Melaka.

★ 9.0Family with Children
