A Restored Civic Landmark with a National Monument Identity

From Fort Fullerton to the former Fullerton Building

The site previously held Fort Fullerton, named for Governor Robert Fullerton. The present building was erected between 1924 and 1928 and later served as Singapore’s General Post Office, the Singapore Club and government offices before its conversion to a hotel.

Five frontages and a Doric colonnade

The conserved neoclassical structure is defined by five frontages and a two-storey Doric colonnade. Classical decorative work is attributed to Swiss sculptor Rudolf Wening and Italian sculptor Cavaliere Rudolfo Nolli.

Redevelopment turned the historic civic building into a hotel launched on 1 January 2001. Its identity is tied to adaptive reuse of the landmark architecture and its role as the flagship property within The Fullerton Heritage collection.
