Guest reviews
We analysed 5,928 reviews and found 1,858 containing specific, useful feedback about Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore. The feedback is organised by topic so you can quickly see what guests say about the property.
Rooms: What guests say
1,517 relevant reviewsRooms are repeatedly described as clean, spacious, comfortable, modern, and well equipped, often with kitchens and laundry facilities; family apartments and harbor views stand out. Some guests report weak shower pressure or water spreading across the bathroom, uncomfortable beds, and confusing appliance instructions. Room assignment, privacy, and occasional cleanliness or maintenance problems also disappointed guests.
See the evidence
The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and very relaxing. We especially appreciated having a kitchen in the room, which allowed us to prepare our own meals and made the stay much more convenient for our family. The beds were very comfortable, and we all slept extremely well.
The hotel and room were in impeccable condition. The room was actually a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment for us and our teenagers aged 16 and 13, in a corner, with an impressive view of the harbor.
The rain shower did not have good water pressure. Small bathroom, different from the photos.
The windows of the rooms looked directly out to neighbouring office buildings so no privacy, needed to keep curtains closed all the time.See all reviews about rooms
Overall: What guests say
1,320 relevant reviewsGuests often describe Dao by Dorsett as clean, modern, comfortable and peaceful, with a convenient location and spacious accommodation that works well for families. Service and facilities are frequently praised, though some found service disappointing or impersonal, and one family’s otherwise excellent stay was marred by an unsatisfactory room assignment. Several guests considered the price high.
See the evidence
We had a wonderful stay as a family of four, and overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip to Singapore.
Apart from one major disappointment regarding our room assignment, we truly had a fantastic stay and made some wonderful family memories here.
The atmosphere of the hotel was excellent, and the location was also very convenient.
We found our stay to be very comfortable and enjoyed theSee all reviews about overall
Location: What guests say
1,337 relevant reviewsThe hotel is in Singapore’s downtown business district, a short walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT and other stations, with easy access to Marina Bay, Chinatown, Gardens by the Bay, and local hawker centres such as Lau Pa Sat. Guests frequently praise its walkability, transport links, and nearby dining. Some note supermarkets and shops are less convenient, and the level-7 lobby can confuse first-time visitors.
See the evidence
About a 2-minute walk from Exit F of Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, making it very convenient for sightseeing around the city.
Great location, close enough to everything but far enough away to be quiet.
We walked to Lau Pa Sat Hawker Center for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The location can be quite confusing for first timers, as the lobby is at level 7.See all reviews about location
Staff: What guests say
1,093 relevant reviewsMany guests praised the staff as friendly, helpful, and attentive, with Mizi and Ash repeatedly singled out for exceptional service. Experiences were inconsistent, however: some guests found reception cold or unhelpful, and others reported limited luggage assistance, an unattended bar, or requests that went unanswered.
See the evidence
Exceptional service, especially from Mizi who was so considerate and helpful.
A special thank you to Ash and his team, who made the booking process and our stay completely seamless. Every request was handled promptly, and their exceptional service made us feel well looked after throughout.
The welcome was mediocre (the woman at the reception desk was barely understandable and not particularly friendly).
Only complaint is, we went to the bar for a drink every night but it wasn’t manned.See all reviews about staff
Facilities: What guests say
643 relevant reviewsGuests repeatedly praised the hotel’s cleanliness, modern design, and well-maintained facilities, especially the complimentary laundry, kitchenette, lobby, and pool. However, laundry was a recurring concern: some washers and dryers failed or worked poorly. Other reported drawbacks included an inadequately equipped or unclean kitchen, malfunctioning appliances, and an overpowering reception fragrance.
See the evidence
Main reason we chose this hotel was because of the washing machine and dryer. Neither were in good working order.
The common laundry facility is terrific but some of the dryers did not work well.
The kitchen is inadequately equipped, and the kitchen cabinets have not been thoroughly cleaned for a long time
We didn’t like the smell of reception, the infusion or incense was off putting, too strongSee all reviews about facilities
Breakfast: What guests say
676 relevant reviewsBreakfast reviews are mixed: many guests praise a delicious, varied buffet with plenty of choice and eggs made to order, while others find it basic, limited, or skewed toward Asian dishes. Recurring complaints include high prices, cold hot food, poor freshness, machine coffee, and a breakfast room that feels cramped when busy.
See the evidence
Breakfast buffet was a pleasant surprise. Western staples with a generous mix of Eastern cuisine. Even had Cantonese Lava buns one morning. They rotate Chinese menu items thus providing diversity in their fates.
Breakfast was excellent, especially the eggs made to order. Lots on offer and good service!
The breakfast room is much too small for the number of guests. There are more than 200 rooms, and the room has space for around 60 people. It was very cramped and unpleasant. The food selection was okay. Unfortunately, the fruit was unripe and the baked goods were dry (par-baked products).
Breakfast is embarrassing: $25 per day per person for products that have been frozen and thawed several times, very little choice, and undrinkable coffee from a machine. Unacceptable.See all reviews about breakfast
Pool: What guests say
657 relevant reviewsGuests often praise the seventh-floor infinity pool as beautiful, relaxing, and large enough for swimming laps, with city or harbor views and a welcome place to cool off. Some report construction noise, cold water and limited sun, too few loungers, or an unexpected closure; pool access may also end by 10 p.m.
See the evidence
The rooftop pool was stunning, set amidst the shining lights and glass skyscrapers of Marina Bay. Great for an evening swim to cool off after a hot and humid day!
The hotel pool is wonderful, not too busy and great even for swimming laps.
Unfortunately there was a lot of construction going on when we were there so the pool area was very noisy.
there aren’t enough loungers and sunbeds by the pool (for a maximum of 16 people)See all reviews about pool
Check-in / Check-out: What guests say
335 relevant reviewsCheck-in experiences varied: some guests reported a smooth process, helpful staff, and complimentary early check-in or late checkout. Recurring complaints included long waits, too few staff, and a rigid 3 p.m. check-in; early access could cost extra, sometimes a substantial fee. After checkout, some guests appreciated being able to store luggage and use facilities.
See the evidence
check in took almost 40 minutes because there was only person working when I got there. Checkout was the same.
They won't let you have your room if you arrive a few hours early, even if it's ready and available. They offer early check-in for roughly the cost of one night's stay.
Instead of making us wait until the standard 3pm check-in, Hotel Manager Ash and his team happily granted us early check-in at 9am without any fuss or extra charge.
When we checked out we were able to leave our bags and use the facilities for a few hours until our flight left.See all reviews about check-in / check-out
Transport: What guests say
269 relevant reviewsTwo nearby MRT stations, bus stops, and easy access to Grab and taxis made getting around convenient; guests also valued the complimentary shuttle to attractions and shopping areas, though it runs at set times and may require booking 24 hours ahead. Finding the entrance could be confusing, and some taxi drivers did not recognize the hotel.
See the evidence
Two MRT stations very close to the hotel, which made travelling super easy.
The front desk patiently answered our questions, assisted us with taxis, and gave helpful tips on getting around Singapore. We also appreciated the complimentary shuttle service, which conveniently took us to Gardens by the Bay and nearby shopping malls.
The shuttle has to be booked 24 hours in advance, which doesn’t really work if you are deciding the morning of where you want to go; no staff tell you this unless you ask.
The entrance is a little confusing; reception is on the 7th floor. Our local taxi driver didn’t know where the entrance was and dropped us off on a nearby street because he couldn’t find the hotel.See all reviews about transport
Restaurant: What guests say
140 relevant reviewsRestaurant feedback is mixed: many guests praised the food, including the laksa, and some found good value through 2-for-1 deals. Others described dining and drinks as expensive, with reports of slow or absent service, limited choices, unavailable dishes, and a restaurant lacking atmosphere. Several other dining options are available in or around the hotel.
See the evidence
For seafood and curry lovers, you cannot miss the seafood laksa. It was incredible!
Have a great on-site restaurant.. if you are a guest you get two for one deal.. the food was amazing and it’s a shame no one was there dining at night on the weekend.. they really need to promote this to guests.
When asked why the food was taking long to be served, she responded unapologetically, saying, “Do you know we have two high tea sets to prepare for other guests now?” Regardless of how busy the restaurant was, this is not the level of professionalism or customer service one would expect from a hospitality establishment.
I didn't like that there was only one restaurant. Also, there was a problem the first night we were there, My party of five went for dinner and after we were seated and our orders taken, we were told half of what we ordered wasn't available because there was no fryer. The restaurant lost that sale because we left for another establishment.See all reviews about restaurant
Gym: What guests say
94 relevant reviewsThe gym is often described as small, basic, and short on equipment, with some guests wishing it were larger or better equipped. Others found it clean, functional, and adequate for a short stay; several noted 24-hour access. Reported drawbacks include poor temperature control, a broken door, and a broken piece of equipment.
See the evidence
The gym was small and really not too functional. Wish it were bigger
The gym was basic and lacking more and proper equipment.
It also has a good swimming pool and a gym which opens 24 hours.
The only downside was the gym: the door was broken, the room felt hot and humid, and the space itself is quite small and outdated.See all reviews about gym
