Guest reviews
We analysed 7,470 reviews and found 1,785 containing specific, useful feedback about Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok. The feedback is organised by topic so you can quickly see what guests say about the property.
Location: What guests say
1,328 relevant reviewsThe hotel is repeatedly praised for being exceptionally close to Don Mueang Airport and convenient for early, late, or connecting flights, with a shuttle available. However, renovation closed the connecting walkway/bridge, sometimes requiring a longer route or 15–20-minute shuttle; the surrounding area is less appealing and far from central Bangkok.
See the evidence
The walkway was closed but the hotel provided a free shuttle bus for your departure time.
But now part of the hotel is under renovation, and I had to descend with my suitcases down the stairs, cross a small road, and walk another 500 meters on the sidewalks to get to the reception.
There is, of course, a shuttle that runs once or twice an hour; you need to register for it, and it takes about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.
We wouldn't stay here unless we had a flight to catch at Don Mueang Airport, it's far from everything worth seeing in Bangkok.See all reviews about location
Rooms: What guests say
1,108 relevant reviewsRooms are frequently described as spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet, and well-equipped, especially after renovation, with large beds and good bathrooms. However, older rooms need updating, and recurring problems include poorly adjustable or noisy air conditioning, bathroom odors, thin doors or walls, occasional cleanliness lapses, and minor maintenance faults during ongoing renovations.
See the evidence
We had a newly renovated room, which was really nice…bright, comfortable, and well-equipped. However, the air conditioning could not be properly adjusted (the system showed 29°C, yet the room felt freezing), and there was an unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom drainage.
The rooms are new and beautiful, but the door doesn't close properly, allowing noise from the corridor to be heard.
The room was immaculate, spacious, and luxurious.
The room was not that clean (hair on floor and dead bugs lying around).See all reviews about rooms
Staff: What guests say
649 relevant reviewsStaff are overwhelmingly described as friendly, helpful, attentive, professional, and welcoming, often assisting with luggage, airport transfers, flight changes, and special requests. Recurring concerns include occasional slow luggage delivery, unanswered reception calls, poor communication around shuttle arrangements, and isolated complaints about impolite check-in handling or insufficient help during heavy rain and accessibility needs.
See the evidence
Exceptional hospitality! The team is professional, efficient, and genuinely friendly.
The staff kindly let us leave our luggage here for 4 days whilst we took a short trip to Chiang Mai and back, for free!
The staff member at check-in had very poor manners: I booked 2 rooms with breakfast through Booking, but the staff couldn't find the breakfast included in the reservation.
We later found out that the shuttle was already full, which was not communicated to us beforehand.See all reviews about staff
Overall: What guests say
452 relevant reviewsHighly convenient for early flights, with friendly staff, clean facilities, comfortable rooms, and strong service frequently praised. However, major ongoing renovations have caused temporary reception and breakfast areas and replaced the airport bridge with a shuttle. Reviews also cite dated areas, high prices, inconsistent service, and occasional dissatisfaction with breakfast.
See the evidence
Because it is currently under renovation, there are a few downsides: a temporary reception, a temporary breakfast room, and the bridge to the airport has been replaced by a shuttle service.
The location is perfect if you need to catch a flight.
The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and the new rooms are a real upgrade from how they used to be.
I would never stay here again - well certainly not until all the renovations have been completed and by this I mean ALL the rooms not just the lobby and they get a better chef.See all reviews about overall
Breakfast: What guests say
530 relevant reviewsBreakfast is overwhelmingly praised for its extensive, fresh Asian and continental variety, live egg/noodle stations, and vegan or gluten-free options. Recurring drawbacks include crowded dining rooms and long coffee queues, limited vegan choices, poor bread or missing items such as cheese and smoked salmon, high pricing, and one reported prepaid-breakfast substitution with Starbucks credit.
See the evidence
Breakfast buffet had a large selection of different foods and cuisines as well as a station with chef to make egg dishes and noodles.
The breakfast room was terribly crowded, I don’t enjoy standing in line for 10min to get a coffee, so I had to return 30min later.
The breakfast buffet was very rich, I would have liked more vegan options and the time from 8 to 10 AM seems a bit short.
I prepaid for breakfast, but was informed when I got here that they do not have restaurant facilities. Instead, I’m just given credit at a Starbucks on site. This is bait and switch.See all reviews about breakfast
Facilities: What guests say
273 relevant reviewsMajor refurbishment is the dominant issue, with construction noise, temporary areas, maze-like access, and the airport skybridge closed; heavy luggage can be difficult. Guests still report clean, functional facilities, good service, Wi‑Fi, a large pool, gardens, restaurants, and attractive renovated rooms, while some describe outdated areas, poor value, or closed gym and pool.
See the evidence
There were large renovations taking place that blocked the direct connection to the airport.
The walkway is shut and the alternate walkway route is frankly at night frightening.
The pool is fab and the staff really friendly.
The temporary breakfast room (even understanding there is refurbishment underway the facility was too small for guest comfort.See all reviews about facilities
Transport: What guests say
240 relevant reviewsThe hotel is very close to Don Mueang Airport, but renovation-related closure of the connecting walkway frequently caused confusion, detours, difficult walking conditions, and waits. A free shuttle runs roughly hourly and can be efficient, yet guests reported 20–45-minute waits, crowded or hard-to-find buses, and journeys taking up to 40 minutes instead of a five-minute walk.
See the evidence
The whole purpose of going here is the bridge that connects to the airport, which is under construction. So you have to use the shuttle that goes around the block and adds 30 minutes to get to the airport which with the bridge would take 5 minutes.
Upon arrival, we had to wait 20 minutes for the shuttle bus, followed by another 15 minutes to reach the hotel.
The connecting airport bridge isn't in working order at the moment but they provide transfer buses however, it was very busy and a bit chaotic.
The walkway to the airport was run down and dirty, plus it stopped halfway, so you have to cross a busy road and then climb some stairs. Not nice with luggage in the heat.See all reviews about transport
Restaurant: What guests say
261 relevant reviewsGuests frequently praise the varied breakfast buffet, tasty Thai and international dishes, friendly staff, and live music. Recurring drawbacks include high prices, limited or repetitive menus shared across restaurant, poolside, and room service, and slow service, sometimes involving waits of 45–60 minutes. Food quality is inconsistent, with several poorly cooked or undersized dishes.
See the evidence
Zeppelin Restaurant ห้องอาหารของทางโรงแรม ที่เสิร์ฟบุฟเฟต์อาหารเช้ามีไลน์อาหารให้เลือกเยอะมากทั้งเอเชียและตะวันตก
Food service at the restaurant was slow about 45 minutes waiting time for the food to arrive with lots of mosquito.
The menu for room service, poolside and main restaurant all the same and quite limited
We ate at the restaurant, I ordered the Australian beef burger, it came very undercooked, I sent it back, the second one came back just as undercooked but greyish, that ended my meal, they didn’t charge me, which was appropriate.See all reviews about restaurant
Check-in / Check-out: What guests say
210 relevant reviewsCheck-in and checkout are often described as quick, smooth, and flexible, including helpful late arrivals and late checkout. However, renovation-related temporary facilities frequently caused chaos, long waits, confusing directions, and limited desks. The airport bridge was reportedly closed without notice, with hourly shuttles and awkward luggage access replacing it.
See the evidence
On arrival check in was chaotic and the makeshift lobby is not big enough if more than one or two guest are checking in at the same time.
Lastly, the bridge walkway to the airport (the whole appeal of this hotel) was apparently under renovation and nobody had notified us of this prior to our stay.
There was not very good organization around the alternative transport, either a shuttle (only happening once every hour) or a golf cart taking you 100m before you need to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs to reach the airport.
check in was very easy and so was the check out, which even came with a free shuttle service to the airport.See all reviews about check-in / check-out
Pool: What guests say
218 relevant reviewsThe pool is repeatedly praised as very large, clean, pleasant, quiet, and well maintained, with plentiful loungers, a pool bar, and warm or refreshing water suited to relaxing after flights. Recurring drawbacks include construction noise, dated surroundings, occasional maintenance issues, inconsistent bar service, high prices, and some poor food and drink experiences.
See the evidence
We swam laps in the huge clean/deep pool.
The pool area and bar were a nice getaway from the noise of Bangkok.
Building work around the pool with lots of drilling
Also the pool area looks abandoned, uncared for, lots of cracks, you had to ring a bell and wait 15 minutes for any service at the bar.See all reviews about pool
Gym: What guests say
35 relevant reviewsGym availability is unreliable: several guests found it closed or nonexistent, including during renovation. When open, it is repeatedly described as a small, basic facility located in a corridor, with old or malfunctioning equipment. Heat and inadequate air-conditioning are recurring problems, though a few guests called it good or enjoyable.
See the evidence
There was no gym, which was the reason we chose this hotel.
The gym is in the hallway (usually there is a separate room for this).
None of the treadmills work properly in the gym and there's no AC.
The gym and the equipment in it were not great at all and quite old.See all reviews about gym
Parking: What guests say
21 relevant reviewsParking is often free for up to seven days when booked directly, but third-party bookings may incur THB 360 per day and surprise charges. Guests repeatedly describe the car park as distant, sometimes unavailable during meetings, and lacking luggage shuttle service. Positive reports mention security, free parking, and convenient car-hire pickup.
See the evidence
If you book through their site you can park the car there for free for six nights, otherwise it's 360 baht per day.
the parking for hotel guests was terrible as you could never get a parking spot on the premises.
I don't like that guests have to park at the back, which is very far away. If they have luggage, it's very inconvenient.
the car park was far from the lobby mean you have to dropped luggage then park and walk back without transport service.See all reviews about parking
