Carlton Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit

An excellent hotel that combines amazing rooms and breathtaking views, outstanding service, excellent food, a great rooftop, and a perfect location.

Great family hotel -- we were a group of 2 adults with kids 1 and 5 and the room was huge.

I asked for an extra bed, but they asked me to pay around 1700 Thai baht for my 6-year-old child, unlike other hotels where they provide them for free.

The limited food served in the rooftop bar is not good and all mains came at separate times when three of us ordered.

The concierges went out of their way to help me with an administrative issue and printed a lot of documents I urgently needed, all with a smile.

Mr Kook was exceptional with advice on getting around and organising taxis; Mr Wat was also very helpful with our bags.

The hotel staff replied quickly before my arrival and granted my requests, and check-in took less than five minutes.

None of the staff smiled or were helpful at all, except for one person who carried the luggage.

The rooms are amazing, spacious and comfortable, with a stunning view of Bangkok.

Family room is perfect for a family of 4 because it has a room with king size bed and another room with twin beds and they all share the same toilet and bathroom still no issues as it’s accommodating.

The photos show designer renovations, original showers and sinks. In reality - a cramped room with no windows, a shower behind a curtain, dirty walls, and stained bedspreads.

For the room price and the supposed luxury, there was no coffee machine, even though even 4-star hotels now have them, and they're quite affordable.

The location is perfect, a short walk from the MRT, BTS, and Terminal 21.

Walking distance to plenty of great restaurants, bars, and nightlife, and the BTS station is just a short walk away — a huge plus for getting around the city.

You will always see traffic jam in front of the hotel and it's quite far from BTS. It takes almost 10 minutes to get to BTS.

It's a loud red light / tourist trap district, and if you're not a fan of these, I propose more central and quiet areas that also have beautiful hotels.

The breakfast was excellent with a great variety of options, and everything was fresh and well prepared.

A wide variety of everything at breakfast: different Asian cuisines, many delicious western food options - definitely the best bread and cakes we had in Thailand. Also many vegetarian and vegan options.

The breakfast was of good quality, but many of the hot dishes were traditional Asian options such as soups, curries, and stews, which for us as europeans was a bit unusual.

There could have been a little more effort on the breakfast box such as chopped fruit, yoghurt, mini cereal, milk carton, bacon & egg roll, etc instead there was minimal effort in the box with apple, lime, croissant, juice in carton, danish, cheese & ham sandwich and luke warm coffee.

Great facilities, pool and gym.

The pool is relatively small for the size of the hotel. Often there are no sunbeds available.

The room air-conditioning was really bad. Both my wife and I sweating during sleeping daily.

The outdoor pool on the 10th floor was a real highlight.

You can really swim laps.

25 sun loungers by the pool for the entire hotel, that's definitely too few.

The pool was working till 9PM so we had to plan around it if we wanted to use it in the evening.

The Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant is simply outstanding—one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.

The rooftop bar and restaurant offer breathtaking views and amazing drinks.

The Tuxedo lounge bar downstairs has the cutest cakes! The coffee is also amazing.

The vegetarian/vegan options were very limited.

We arrived 3 hours before check-in, the room was already available but they asked us for €170 to have it right away. An exaggeration, we refused.

I requested a late check-out, and he refused. I then asked whether it would be possible with an additional fee, and he told me that the hotel was unsure about the next guest’s arrival, so it could not be arranged. However, later on the same day, when I called the hotel, another staff member informed me that I could check out at 12:30, but the room had a policy preventing a later time.

We waited over 1 hour after check in time as the room was not ready which was not ideal after travelling for 24 hours.

We had a late flight and the hotel allows you to leave your luggage in storage and provides the option for a shower and freshening up even after checkout.

The gym is exceptional: the largest and best equipped I have ever seen in a hotel.

Gym is more than adequate for a decent strength workout & plenty of cardio to use too.

Gym was a bit small

The gym was not clean (old sweat stains on equipment).

The spa was amazing throughly enjoyed a massage, very relaxing and great service with a pre and after drink and snack included.

The sauna is so small that you hesitate to go on the upper level for fear of falling into the heater. Maximum one person in the sauna.

I arrived 10 minutes before the appointment time, but I had to wait an additional 15 to 20 minutes

Unfortunately the spa and saunas were closed for maintenance during our whole stay.

The subway station is at the corner of the street.

Traffic gets really bad during rush hour since it's located on the main street, but can't really avoid it.

It took about 50 minutes from BKK on a Friday at noon and cost $30. (US).

The hotel arranged a hotel transfer to and from the airport, which was very convenient, but I'd recommend downloading the app "Grab" and arranging a taxi to get around at a fraction of the price.
