If you can get a deal for an upgrade from a mid-ranked hotel then probably worth a shot but given it was similarly priced to the Mandarin, Palace, Four Seasons and Okura when we were staying you would do much better in any of these for the same price.

We were aware of these drawbacks before booking and chose to stay here because they offered by far the best price and location for a luxury hotel on the west side of Tokyo.

The pictures of the hotel look nice but everything is a little fake in our room (the double deluxe suite) - lots of hollow chipboard masquerading as solid wood for example.

Found this to be a poor substitute for the premium hotels that often have good ‘3 for 2’ offers on these days in Tokyo, such as Four Seasons or MO.

Having said that, Bellustar hotel has far exceeded all my expectations and even Ritz and Astoria pale in comparison with the service, amenities, central location, impeccable food options and ambience.

This hotel is one of those where while it is pricey, it is also something where you get what you pay for - I will be here again soon.

One minor annoyance is the elevator from the ground floor to the lobby could take a while to arrive, but that's about it as far as faults go.

All in all, the experience was not terrible. But when you pay such a premium price you’re expecting no disappointments, and that was not my experience.

While it is a very fine hotel in an excellent location it just had a couple things that made our experience a little less than stellar.

We would rate our experience during a 4 night stay at the Bellustar Hotel in Tokyo in November 2024 as absolutely "top notch" in every respect.

It was very quiet being so far up with the only noticeable noise being the faint sounds of trains, but nothing to bring your earplugs for.

The view was great up on the 41F, the TV was huge and the staff friendly so not a terrible experience by any means.

Now I've stayed in a few classy hotels in my life, but this hotel blew them all out of the water... It was amazing!

I travel often and stay at many 5-star hotels around the world, and the Bellustar Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo truly exceeded my expectations.

I think that the quality of the hotel combined with the location makes it a worthwhile place to consider staying when in Tokyo.

The hotel met or exceeded our expectations in every way, and I would encourage adventurous luxury travelers to consider stay at the Bellustar.

So many great things to say about this place and I can’t wait to come back, such a beautiful property!

This is a completely different five star property and probably one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at.

I would highly recommend this hotel equally to solo, business and family travelers coming to Tokyo.

Definitely recommend Bellustar if you are looking to stay in the heart of the action.

Not bad just didn’t feel as high end as it wants to be

The hotel is only one year old so everything is ultra modern.

I will definitely return to BELLUSTAR whenever I stay in Tokyo.

The hotel was a stunningly stylish oasis in busy Shinjuku.

It’s a 5 star property but not at all fussy.

The best 5 star hotel in Shibuya.

Cannot understate the tremendous stay here.

The overall quality of everything in the bathroom is excellent, including a beautiful tub, dual vanities, a lovely rainfall shower, and a wonderful high-tech Japanese toilet with bidet and multifunction remote on the wall as one might expect in Japan.

The advantage of this hotel is it’s in a very tall building and you hear nothing from up there and you get magnificent views of Tokyo and can even see mount Fuji from the breakfast room.

Our corner suite on the 44th floor had absolutely spectacular panoramic views of the city, and two days during our stay the clear weather even allowed us to view Mount Fuji in the distance!

I had a room facing the train station on the first night so I woke up early because of the noise (even though the room was on the 40th floor).

We were shown to our suite and it was breathtaking - Tokyo as far as the eye could see from the Sky Tree to the Metropolitan Government Buildings and beyond.

The only bad thing was the washroom was dark due to less lighting and there is also only one elevator from the street level to the lobby.

Bathroom setup: The glass windows / doors to the toilet, shower, and sink might not be comfortable for all visitors… :D Countertop space is very limited.

If you are sitting on the toilet you're not only seeing a reflection on yourself (which is weird) you are looking right into the shower.

We booked a room for the view and it did not disappoint, we felt like we were floating in the sky from the 40th floor!

There is one giant sliding opaque door that you can close right at the threshold of the entire bathroom to give you full privacy.

It's all one big open space and even though there is glass around the shower and around the toilet, the glass is very translucent.

The room was large and spotless, with very comfortable bedding and the amazing high tech Japanese toilet and hot tub and shower facilities.

And yes the toilet door is clear but there is a dividing door that you can close when privacy is needed.

Despite being almost 200 metres above the station, faint train sounds could sometimes be heard, though never intrusive.

In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by the free two-tier upgrade of my room to Deluxe Suite.

Both were incredibly beautiful and luxuriously appointed with unparalleled views from 40 stories up over Shinjuku.

(The pajamas were so comfortable that I purchased a pair despite the high price).

Room on the 42nd floor, a dream view over the entire city

Absolutely quiet and possibility to black-out, so very comfortable to sleep.

The times we were there it was empty except for staff.

The large floor-to-ceiling windows offered stunning views that were absolutely amazing.

We also had a view of Mt Fuji from our room!!

The bed was so comfortable & room was really luxurious.

Going to the penthouse lounge, we could see Mount Fuji.

The hallways remind me of araska tower from cyberpunk.

Great location, great staff, comfy rooms and clean facilities.

I liked the way details are attended to.

Every room has a huge bath tub.

The view from our room was unbelievable!

Every room has an amazing view.

The breakfast area on the 45th floor also had spectacular views of Tokyo, and featured delicious food from an excellent menu with Japanese and Western options served by an attentive staff (no buffet breakfast lines at this upscale hotel!).

Service is moment is second to none, left my jacket at breakfast and about a minute walk to the elevator I hear running footsteps in which my server chased me to the elevator to hand me my jacket.

For example, clear directions to the Shinjuku Station (except the East exit) & unable to get information of the restaurant operating hours (they recommended a restaurant for late dining but when we arrived, already past last order time).

The sheer number of people that you will see, that will greet you, and that you will interact with anytime you come or go is slightly overwhelming.

The concierge sent someone to the train station to purchase our bullet train tickets, and then wrote out detailed directions for what to do at the station.

Everyone was incredibly polite and attentive helping us with our bags, making sure we checked in fine, and gave us a detailed tour of the room.

Staff went above and beyond the necessary even offering turndown service which not many or even all other property offer at 4.5 star rated hotels.

Staff went beyond to help with all our needs such as arranging transportation, shipping some documents to US, picking up my daughter from airport.

The service was also very friendly and their recommendations on what to do and where to eat in the area were very much appreciated.

Finally, a huge thank you to all the staff – from reception to the penthouse – for their kindness, professionalism, and constant attention.

Once my husband and I arrived, we were blown away by the top notch service provided by every staff member we talked to.

I am impressed by the assistance of the Concierge for helping me book all the restaurants I wished to patronize before my trip.

A big thank you to Costas. He was outstanding, very helpful, professional, and one of the few staff who spoke perfect English.

One staff member who stood out was Dai, who went above and beyond to help us when my wife lost her wallet.

Service is proficient and trying hard although given most staff seem not to be Japanese it lacks a true sense of place.

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the whole team of BELLUSTAR for making my stay so memorable and remarkable.

The concierge managed to secure an almost impossible sushi omakase reservation and carefully passed on my allergy requirements to the chef.

Housekeeping was immaculate, and the laundry service flawless — I had trousers dry-cleaned and pressed, and the result was perfect.

They went out of their way to accommodate us with anything we needed, always making us feel comfortable and welcome.

I can’t thank the staff enough for being so kind and making sure we felt welcomed every day.

The staff’s welcoming gestures and service make you feel like an elite and never wanting to leave.

Really appreciate the friendly and warming service received from staff member Horan Ryota at rooftop bar.

The staffs are polite but compare with Prince hotel , they are less attentive

We really enjoyed walking in the evening through some of the nearby narrow streets with their colorful bars and restaurants, and were fascinated by the throngs of "kawaii" who populate the area at night.

The vast majority of cool spots even within Shinjuku, as well as most of the main metro lines connecting you to the rest of the city, were a decent walk away through the crowds.

The location is in the heart of Shinjuku with easy access to many sites and subway lines, but the noise and chaos can’t be felt or heard from the oasis of the hotel.

Though location is convenient , no clear drop off place when we come back , taxi driver always drop us at a wrong place , always drop us lay by without cover

Even on the 41st floor we could hear the trains and sirens at night but we didn't mind as that is part and parcel of being in a city like Shinjuku.

All the activities at your foot step, but when you reach your room, a high enough level away from the bustle and you are at your own peaceful safe space.

The area is known for its nightlife but if you’re not looking for trouble it’s completely safe and there are tons of restaurant and bar options for every budget around.

The hotel is on Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, where you also have Bandai Namco Tokyo, an awesome food hall with live music and great food, as well as bars and restaurants.

The hotel sits at the top of Kabukichō Tower — directly above the liveliest part of Shinjuku — yet it feels calm and private once you step inside.

It was a great feeling at the end of the day knowing we were heading back to a sanctuary and away from the noise and crowd.

Shinjoku is perhaps the most colorful and exciting region in Tokyo for strolling around in the evening after visiting the usual tourist sites during the day.

Being located atop Kabukichō Tower adds a unique energy; restaurants and entertainment are right below, but the hotel itself remains quiet and refined.

I didn't like the noise, the police and ambulance siren, and the train track sound is very noticeable even on the 39th floor.

The hotel looks exactly likes the pictures - highly recommend staying here as it’s close (walking distance) to the main area in Shinjuku.

Shinjuku station was about 10 min walk - the Subnade shopping centre was a nice walk to get to the station.

We chose this hotel for our stay in Tokyo specifically because of its fantastic location right in the heart of Shinjuku.

Shinjoku has not been the most popular region for luxury travelers who have traditionally opted for more sedate and quiet neighborhoods.

This seems to be the tallest building in the area so the feeling was like the whole city at one glance.

Shinjuki sttion is huge but we managed just fine and the neighborhood is full of interesting characters but not seedy.

I do have to say it was truly a bit much to stay in the heart of Kabukicho.

I could enjoy a spectacular view of Tokyo, Mount Fuji and Tokyo Tower throughout the day.

We passed more than a few adult entertainment venues on our walk around the hotel.

The location is great for sightseeing and connects also nicely to all major subway lines.

The hotel is situated strategically at Kabukicho Tower, right in the heart of Shinjuku.

Lunch and dinner is amazing at the hundreds of options within walking distance.

The hotel itself felt like an oasis above all of the activity.

Excellent location with busy street with loads of food and drinks.

Decided to stay here as in the heart of Shinjuku.

The streets are always very busy in this neighborhood.

Everything is served à la carte, which isn’t ideal if you’re in a hurry, but that morning the sky was clear and we could see Mt. Fuji right from our table — a memorable view to start the day.

The breakfast area on the 45th floor also had spectacular views of Tokyo, and featured delicious food from an excellent menu with Japanese and Western options served by an attentive staff (no buffet breakfast lines at this upscale hotel!).

We always went out for breakfast (you have plenty of options around the hotel), but we would have loved to have a breakfast menu at the restaurant, just like the lunch option.

Breakfast is definitely worth it, you have a buffet option on floor 18 joined with hotel Groove, or a private al la carte breakfast on floor 45 with amazing views.

The breakfast buffet, served inside Hotel Groove which is in the same building, is decent yet we would not book a stay with breakfast again

The breakfast is relatively expensive for what you get, but when you factor in the view and the attentive service++, it was perfectly fine.

You have the option to get a Western breakfast at the restaurant, where you can order an unlimited quantity of anything off the menu.

OR you can pre-order room service, where you can select a Japanese or Western breakfast, and schedule that for delivery at a specified time.

You can order in-room breakfast from the day before, but checking the restaurant at 8-9 am and seeing nobody and nothing available was odd.

Another amazing benefit of being a Titanium member of the GHA Discovery is that you could enjoy the complimentary breakfast every morning.

There is the option to join the breakfast of the sister hotel a few floors down but the quality isn’t as good.

Very hearty breakfast, very well served on the 17th or 45th floor, with a nice view of part of the city.

One point for improvement - coffee and breakfast at the hotel aren't wow, but everything else really is.

Breakfast is unbeatable in terms of food quality services atmosphere and very exclusive with table to table spacious

In-room dining was consistently good, with breakfasts that stood out for both quality and presentation.

An extra special shout out to all the team at the Bellustar restaurant for breakfast.

Enjoy it so much with such breakfast time facing the 270 degrees of Tokyo view

Breakfast is also available as a room service option which we did not experience

It seems pointless to offer breakfasts if they can’t accommodate all the hotel guests.

Breakfast area is small so sometimes you get put in a holding area .

The breakfast is incredible- I highly recommend booking a rate with breakfast included.

The breakfast buffet on 17th floor was nice with some Japanese food touches.

Good western breakfast but can be improved by having more options eg: Japanese.

Don't miss the breakfast from the 45th floor, truly something to behold.

The breakfast in the restaurant and in room service was fantastic.

Nina in particular made breakfast dining a memorable and delightful experience!

Their breakfast set for in-room-dining was so well presented and delicious.

From the breakfast place you can even see Mount Fuji!

Breakfast included was delicious and filling to start the day.

We also tried breakfast once at the hotel restaurant.

I also respected the bold choice to go with a heavy blue and black color scheme--and liked the furnishings that went along with the theme--but it did make the vibe a bit overwhelming and cold rather than relaxing or homey.

Hotel lobby is on 18th floor and room lifts do not go all the way to ground floor so going to and from room sometimes takes a while .

Beautiful high class hotel lounge and bar located on the 45th floor, or your option to mix with hotel Groove guests on floor 17 lounge, both are great.

However, i just wish there were one elevator that can take me to my floor without getting off at 18th floor, to take different elevator to go up.

There is a chill out lounge available for you to get your own snacks and tea for free, and relax with a view of the city.

The small details are the best, the turndowns at night, the umbrellas for rainy days, the chocolate sandwiches and skin care in the rooms.

So if you are a couple like we are and one person wants to shower while the other one perhaps uses the toilet.

They serve some snacks and coffee and soft drinks throughput the day and a selection of wine after 5 pm.

Every night you can get self-serve beer and a sparkling alcoholic beverage for a couple hours in the evening.

On the 46th floor, there is a lounge with coffee and cookies overlooking a amazing view.

The facilities, amenities and staff were outstanding, what you would except from this type of hotel.

The hotel also has a lounge on the top floor for use by all guests.

The all-day beverages are similar to what's available in your mini bar (except free).

You can borrow things like a hair straightener, and even workout clothes and shoes.

For the suit chosen the breakfast should have been included also spa etc,

This lounge is free and includes beverages and small tiny packaged snacks.

It was the first hotel we stayed at after arriving in Tokyo.

The amenities are above and beyond such as the restaurants and bar

The TV gives you lots of info on the hotel.

Everything else, from cleanliness to service and breakfast, was top-notch.

One night they had hors d'oeuvres and served champagne.

Loved the lounge which had complimentary snacks and drinks.

The complimentary lounge 46F was a nice touch.

Decent lounge with a few drinks and snack.

Luxurious hotel facilities made me feel absolutely spoilt.

The staff, hotel facilities and service were outstanding.

The lighting at bathroom mirror can be improved.

There's a lounge that's open 8am-8pm.

Great stuff, super clean, top comfort

Especially because the hotel is not on the ground floor, you have to enter the lobby then walk to a first elevator, then when you get off that elevator you have to walk through the actual hotel lobby on the 18th floor, around the corner and then to another bank of elevators that will take you further up to your room on the much higher floors of the building.

The check-in was dismal through no fault of the staff as the cab drop off is in a communal basement car park with an escorted elevator ride to a really depressing 1F reception where we were forced to take a pit stop before finally getting to a front desk on the 18F.

They didn’t have my payment in their system so I had to wait 20 mins for the check out and they still didn’t return the deposit because they weren’t sure I paid (even though I did).

You then take elevators up to your floor where your room is, where about half the time another staff person was on our floor and greeted us again at that point.

It took a bit of walking & 3 separate elevators to get to & from the room - that’s the cost you pay for the view & was absolutely worth it.

Then it's possible they will escort you to the elevators or there may be another person that you will see along your way or at the first elevator.

The hotel entrance is not straight-forward and you have to go to the 18th floor to get to reception then take another elevator up to the rooms.

The membership discount had been confirmed during breakfast, but the full amount was reflected at check out, which took a bit of time to sort out.

The check in at the room without a hustle of doing it at the lobby after a long flight has added a special extra touch.

They actually reached out prior to the stay to see when we would be arriving and the room was ready when we checked in.

Upon check out we were then presented with the bill for our suite which tallied with the email we received at time of booking.

It might have been smoother if we were invited to go up and speak directly with the reception team instead of waiting downstairs.

What will inevitably happen is someone will greet you at the ground floor doors as you walk in...there is always someone standing there.

It’s a bit of a hassle to get to your room via two different elevators, because they have their reception on floor 18.

We paid this and were told it could take up to 2 weeks for the original £5k to have the hold removed.

We arrived early in the morning and asked about the possibility of early check in, but the hotel was fully booked.

Upon getting off the first elevator you will walk through a lobby where no less than four people will greet you.

Please help check with property that I may have left a charge cable white color in the room yesterday.

Literally 6 or 7 people will see you coming and going, and greet you, every time.

During check in the hotel staff member explained they would be taking a 10 % deposit.

During check out, there was also a small communication issue regarding the breakfast bill.

We were able to check in early due to my GHA Discovery Platinum level.

Check in was a breeze and so reassuring as they answered all my questions.

Annoying having the level 1 reception as well as the level 18 reception.

Let us check-in early since we were tired from our long travel.

Sometimes that person would ride the elevator with us.

Check in and service was exceptional 5 stars.

The front desk was a delight.

There are a few restaurants there too, I went to the wagyu one and was served a fine dining course experience with a personal chef for a very low cost.

Only fault would be the sushi restaurant, no menu and no information on the Omakase style, to an American this isn’t common knowledge.

We had their steak and breakfast (didn’t try the complimentary breakfast) and were quite surprised by the quality.

$250/person I’d expect more. Regardless, lunch and dinner is amazing at the hundreds of options within walking distance.

Restaurant served us everything on menu from juice , breads, yogurt, selection of main, coffee ….

The restaurant dining experience was incredible and the service from our waiter was exceptional.

The bar, restaurant and lounge area at the top were all great experiences.

Aside from the great service, room service and food is also very good.

We had also enjoyed excellent dinners at two of the hotel's fine restaurants.

One point of criticism would be the quality of the in room dining.

Incredible French / Japanese restaurant (someone get them a Michelin star already!)

The lunch menu at Bellustar restaurant was awesome, simply delicious.

Also delicious food in all restaurants w amazing views.

Dinner at Jam 17 was delicious .

It’s rather strange that after turning RIGHT to arrive at the hotel entrance, our driver was asked to make a u turn to make a LEFT turn into the driveway before he could drop us off.

I was charged $200 for a ride from the airport to the hotel that was advertised as a free amenity offered by the hotel.

Why I couldn’t get off at the entrance as I was already there, I don’t understand but it’s just absurd.

There is an airport bus stop right below the hotel, but unfortunately it doesn't come very frequently.

There is a shuttle to/from either airport in Tokyo right next to the entrance of the hotel

Only consideration is the walk to the train station can take up to 20 minutes.

Again we were directed this time to go all the way down to the garage.

Greatly annoyed by $200 charge for “complementary” airport to hotel car service.

Our only complaint is about the staff/security directing traffic in/out of hotel.

Next day I was out and took a taxi back.

So much redundancy!!!

You could take the 3 elevators that take you to the Hotel Groove lobby, and then walk over to the gym, where there is a unmarked door that takes you to the Bellustar lobby, but this took me forever to figure out.

I guess, if I had to pick something, that the weights in the gym aren’t heavy enough?

The gym is unbeatable for a hotel gym.

Very good gym.
