Villa Fontaine Premier Haneda Airport – Directly connected to Haneda Airport Terminal 3 Reviews: Everything Guests Say

On this trip I stayed at hotels ranging all the way up to 3 Michelin Keys, but my last minute stay at Hotel Villa Fontaine Premier Haneda Airport was by far the best value.

It is a huge step up from the Villa Fontaine Grand and the Royal Park (the other hotels you can walk to from the terminal).

I would consider opting to stay at VF Premier Haneda Airport in the future over venturing into the city and paying a premium.

When we arrived we stayed one night here to enjoy the 24 hour open spa and to adjust to jet lag.

Overall, an incredibly pleasant stay and I will most likely come back the next time I'm flying from Haneda.

So convenient if you’re coming off a long international flight or if you have one the next morning.

The proximity to the airport is a definite plus and one of the reasons we stayed there.

Superb hotel connected to terminal 3 of Haneda Airport with extreme comfort and a superb room.

Definitely a recommendation compared to the Grand Hotel - which is in the same building

Booked the upgrade from the 'regular' Villa Fontaine this time due to a promotion.

I highly recommend this hotel if you’ve got an early or midday flight.

We spent a very relaxing time at this hotel after a long flight.

I was surprised it could feel so relaxing being an airport hotel.

But as an airport hotel goes hard to beat this one, anywhere.

The staff is, as often in Japan, very professional and pleasant.

Nice view and facilities, good for people who want to layover.

Onsite onsen with massage facilities and small restaurant were nice also.

This is my first time to stay at the hotel.

Right next to the airport, immaculate and thoughtfully kitted out.

This property is incredible especially as a transit hotel.

On the other hand, it does offer more tranquility.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel.

If you have one or two nights back in Tokyo before catching a flight, I’d recommend the Premier (we satiated one night in the Grand last year before our flight and the Premier is worth every yen of the fairly small additional cost.

We enjoyed an overnight stay here before an early morning departure, this was at the end of a month's travel in some of Japan's beautiful national parks and gave us a bit of space to get sorted prior to our flight home.

It was also very convenient to stay at the hotel and taxi a taxi into the main centre outside of peak hour times, ie returning to hotel at 11pm and waking up not needing to travel to airport in the AM.

It is in the details that this hotel loses its way, for example, there are no sweeteners at breakfast; the toaster needs to be programmed and only has the option in Japanese, and this is just one example.

As you come out of the elevator there's quite a bussling reception area, then you turn left and go through some solid doors to check in to the Fontaine Premier and suddenly it's all calm and quiet.

After traveling over 14 hours to get to Tokyo the last thing I want to do is get on the train with all my luggage or take a taxi for 30-40 minutes.

Upon completing passport check and entering the arrival Hall at Haneda Airport's Terminal 3, simply walk straight towards the new shopping mall and then head to the hotel.

There are several hotels on-site, but easy access to the monorail means you can also zip back into Tokyo for dinner if that's your preference.

Easy walk next day to Terminal 3, I pushed a trolley from hotel took 5 -10 minutes to check in to flight.

It is directly into the airport and it has restaurants, shops, spa, gym and easy access to the departures in the airport.

Location is conveniently located inside the airport so you don’t have to worry about walking in the freezing weather in winter.

The hotel is ideally located next to Terminal 3 of Haneda, which can be accessed very quickly from the inside.

We landed at 9pm so decided to stay at this hotel which is an easy access to Haneda.

The proximity to Terminal 3 of Haneda Airport, less than a 10-minute walk through an enclosed shopping area.

The location was ideal as I could walk to the terminal for my flight the next day.

As the hotel is directly connected to the terminal we caught our plane without a hurry.

There’s also a free shuttle at Terminal 3 that can take you to the other terminals.

With a great location right by the terminal this airport hotel is pleasant but not stand-out.

This hotel is a solid option, and you can still easily go out and explore.

I’d been here before and it is conveniently located next to terminal 3 .

The place is super convenient to stay when having an early flight.

The hotel, however, has an excellent location next to Haneda Airport.

Great place to recover from flight before starting touring of Japan.

It is located at the airport, which is perfect after a flight to be able to sleep immediately, but it is far outside of Tokyo, so as a 'transfer hotel' it's fine, but we wouldn't want to stay longer there considering the location.

This is a top quality hotel which is directly connected to Terminal 3 at Haneda Airport, which also has the rail and monorail connections into Tokyo and the Shinkansen rail network, so for a convenience point of view it is perfect.

To get to the hot spring from the room, you first have to go to the 6th floor from your room and then walk a little down the corridor to change to another elevator, which I found a bit inconvenient.

This hotel is in Terminal 3, my departure was from Terminal 2 so be aware that you’d need to allow say 45 mins to get to ground floor, find free airport terminal bus ( very well signed) and get there.

Take note that there is a bit of a walk from terminal 3 to the hotel, and if you're arriving or departing from a different terminal, make sure you allocate some time for the (free) shuttle bus as well.

The soundproofing wasn't the greatest and if you happen to be staying next to a family with young children running up and down the corridor, you will hear the energy of the children.

The consumables provided in the room are complete, including pajamas, slippers, and the mini-bar can be used for free. I had a very comfortable stay for one night.

Super comfortable bed, perfectly clean and spacious bathroom, amazing little extras like coffee machine and free drinks (with and without alcohol) in the room.

Our room was on the river side, so next time I’d like to book a room on the opposite side, facing the airport.

There’s also travel size facial products in packets, full-size travel hairbrushes that were sealed in plastic, and so many other touches.

The bathroom had a fantastic shower and offered every possible amenity (brush, comb, toothbrush, lotion pack, q-tips, cotton pads, etc.).

Loads of freebies - even wine beer and soft drink in the fridge we didn’t have to pay for.

The beds were a bit more firm than anticipated and the pillows were too soft for our tastes.

The complementary drinks and snack in the room was a great added touch to make us feel welcomed!

I can relax in the room and take a bath or shower just before the flight.

The rooms are a decent size with a large bed and a very well equipped bathroom.

Don’t bother staying here if you have an early morning arrival like we did!

We were expecting something quite pokey, but it was a really nicely appointed hotel.

Found room service app (translated into English) impossible to use, so called instead.

The rooms aren't particularly large, but good enough for a very short stay.

The mini-bar was included in the room price and was replenished daily.

Our room was nicely furnished, and the bathroom was well-organized and clean.

We could even see glimpses of my Fuji when the clouds parted.

Room also came with free mini bar, WiFi and excellent toiletries.

The room was very small and felt not worth the price.

The coffee and other beverages in the room were excellent.

We were a family of four across two rooms.

The king-size room was smallish, but very well equipped and included a Keurig coffee maker (in my experience, a rarity in Asia with most hotels preferring Nespresso coffeemakers, which tend to jam) and complimentary wine, beer, and sodas in the minibar.

The room is very spacious, and with the curtains open, you can see the ocean view. Compared to the nearby Grand Hotel, there are fewer guests here, the hotel is newer, and there's no need to wait in line for check-in.

I think the only thing is that I decided to extend our stay for two more nights but the room the we have is not available for one day, so I have to transfer to another room for one day.

Even though we booked for a family of 5 (disclosing kids ages of 15, 13 and 6) meaning we had to book and pay for 2 rooms (nearly $1500 AUD) they only had 1 king bed in each room.

We travelled in early Winter so it may be uncomfortably hot in Summer as the rooms facing the river catch the sunset and majority of afternoon heat if the aircon is insufficient at cooling and producing airflow.

Staff were incredibly helpful and efficient - In my fatigue after a very long day of travel, I accidentally went to check in at the Villa Fontaine Grand and they gently and politely advised me I needed to go across to the other hotel on the other side of the foyer, took my trolley and walked me across the foyer to the correct check in.

The young kid at the counter was a complete little di..k, he was rude until he realized we were checking at the Premier for two nights with breakfast with full access to Onsen and facilities, he apologized, if he had not I was about to check him out I was tired and not interested in his lack of professionalism

There were children making a lot of noise, running and splashing in the onsen. Once their parent returned to supervise them they quietened down and it was fine. It would have been nice if the staff could have intervened a bit earlier to manage this.

Also we pre booked the restaurant via the hotel and then when we arrived at the completely empty restaurant they couldn’t find our reservation and it took some while to seat us which just seemed ridiculous?

I was told our room could be cleaned during the extended stay, only to be told later by the manager that it couldn’t, since it was just an add-on to our original reservation.

Although it is located a bit far from tourist areas, it is a very short walk to the train station that will take you to key tourist attractions.

Staff were not rude, but they were noticeably less warm and welcoming than those at the many other hotels we stayed in throughout Japan.

The staff was incredibly friendly and competent and had the best English of any we met in our 2 week trip.

They made a mistake with a drink voucher and there was no way anyone was going to fix it.

Unlike the sister hotel next door, the front desk here is staffed with courteous and attentive personnel.

Hotel is also very responsive to queries I posted on booking.com chat and deliver their promises.

The onsen is open to anyone for a fee and is a great place to spend a few hours if transiting or if your flight arrives in the wee hours of the morning and you have to wait for the trains to begin running.

The staff were careful to make sure I understood that you had to take all clothes off before admitting me (which is a good precaution for an airport hotel accommodating travellers on layovers who may not be prepared for this).

The very good surprise was the onsen on the roof : a real Japanese spa, very large and clean with lots of options (steam room, dry sauna, several pools/jacuzzis, different water types, different temperatures, vast showers all available 24/24).

I stayed here on short notice this time, so I didn't prepare for it, but I think it would be reassuring for those who are in that situation to have something to carry items like underwear.

I visited the onsen at 2-3am while my laundry was being done on the lobby floor (another critical bonus for travelers) and thoroughly enjoyed the open air nature of the hot springs and bathing amenities provided.

Of note is the fact that the onsen has a 24 hour full service restaurant which offered a robust selection of food for the hour of the night when I visited and I was not disappointed.

Although the spa facilities are advertised as 24 hours, they are in fact all closed for cleaning between 9am and 1pm, with only a restaurant and lounge area available.

Since there is a hot spring, it would be helpful to have something like a spa bag that can be used when going to the hot spring.

The spa was fully booked until afternoon the next day which was disappointing as we were only there until 8am the next day.

I visited the onsen only before at 5am waiting to catch a domestic flight which was a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Booked the room with unlimited onsen access is the best deal as you get the real deal if onsen experience.

A little more guidance on how to use it would be great as it's unfamiliar for foreign travellers.

The hot spring is connected to the Sumitomo Grande, so guests from there use the same facility.

The onsen was outstanding - real onsen water, with a variety of baths indoor and outdoor

The latter is very welcome after a stay in the gigantic sauna or steam bath.

The onsen is great (despite a slight kerosene smell) and the service is impeccable.

The toiletries are the same as the grand, with a cheap chemical industry scent. As a five-star hotel, the shampoo and body wash are not as good as those commonly used in some three-star and four-star hotels in Japan, like Pola or Mikimoto, which somewhat lowers the hotel's experience. I hope they will be replaced.

I received an onsen ticket but since I was sick and had a fever the day before I couldn't use it (a bit sad since that was one of the primary reasons I booked this hotel).

If you have large bags you don’t want to take to the room there is a bag storage up to 24 hours located at the arrival hall near Tully’s coffee.

Another charming feature was the aroma pouch-making station in the lobby, where guests can choose from several fragrances — it’s a small but thoughtful detail and a lovely souvenir idea.

The overall layout of the hotel did not help matters, as the lift configuration is surprisingly confusing and makes moving between different facilities more complicated than it should be.

There was a welcome gift of senbei along with a variety of complimentary drinks in the fridge (including beer, sake, soda, OJ, and water).

The hotel did a great job accommodating left luggage (I was checking back in again in a week) and Tac-Q-Bin deliveries.

Access to airport onsen - always welcomed for the work weary traveler looking for a respite in a hot soak.

There are only 2 lifts to connect hotel lobby level with the main mall / airport level.

We really enjoyed the rooftop onsen and convenient location to Terminal 3 at Tokyo Haneda Airport.

The beautiful bar lounge was v expensive ! a glass of wine was about AUD$25

We particularly enjoyed the Olsen on the roof with a view of Mount Fuji.

The gym was good, but the lounge and onsen facilities were underwhelming.

Food - The flounder fish on one of the Japanese breakfast day taste suspect and led to a bad case of gastroenteritis but we didn’t find fault with the hotel, nothing we could do except to ride out the storm.

Breakfast is not included, and the options at the breakfast salad bar are quite monotonous; the lettuce didn't look fresh or appetizing, as if it were taken directly from a supermarket salad pack. I skipped the Japanese breakfast option altogether.

I had prepaid for a breakfast, but it was only when I sat down that they told me there was no option for a vegan and they couldn't make me anything - that was quite disappointing.

Just note, while it is attached to Haneda Garden, most venues including restaurants there don't open till 11am or later, so options besides the hotel's own breakfast buffet restaurant are limited within the immediate vicinity.

My son and daughter said they preferred the Grande. When I asked why, they said it had a greater variety of all-you-can-eat breakfast and lots of ice cream, including warabi mochi and almond jelly.

Nothing, but just a suggestion: more offer at the buffet, avoiding serving at the table so that we can feel more freedom and don't wait for an order if we don't want it.

Breakfast would have been excellent judging by what I saw served, but for time reasons, we preferred to access the buffet which was good but not excellent in choice and quantity.

We didn’t try the breakfast as we had an early flight at 7 AM, but the convenience store downstairs made it easy to pick up yogurt, fruits, and light snacks.

The breakfast is good, but considering the nature of this hotel (everyone is in a rush to catch a flight), it would be better to have a simple buffet.

I chose to stay at the premium hotel because the Grande had many guests and I couldn’t get a room, but I’m really glad I chose this one.

I did enjoy my breakfast voucher and was pleasantly surprised by the great quality of the set meal (you get an option of Western or Japanese breakfast).

I would slightly improve the breakfast buffet, in terms of selection and quantity, for those who don't have time to enjoy a complete American or Japanese breakfast.

Breakfast is of excellent quality, but it didn't blow us away... You choose from a menu between Japanese and Western breakfast, then there is a buffet.

And the buffet itself is so small and limited, less variety than the $50 a night business hotels I stayed at in rural Japan.

The quality of the breakfast provided exceeded our expectations, and the setting for breakfast was also lovely.

You can add breakfast and there were also places to eat in the hotel.

The breakfast also looked amazing on the hotel website, but we missed it.

We didn't have breakfast as we had an early flight out of Tokyo.

At that price, I would have expected breakfast to be included.

I think it's the breakfast, not too many options.

The breakfast was a bit of a disappointment.

Not really the hotel's fault - but the dining options all close at 9PM (last orders at 8:30PM), so if you arrive on an evening flight, you really have very little choice of eating alternatives other than room service or the spa restaurant in the hotel (which is quite good - you don't need to use the spa to enjoy a meal there).

The Italian restaurant had, besides us (two people) and a couple, a common bottle of wine on the table, speaking very loudly, almost shouting, laughing, and in a loud voice, and the staff joined in the conversations and entertainment of those poorly behaved customers, in a completely unprofessional manner, ultimately disturbing our dinner, which we wanted to be quiet and relaxing.

The only option for some food on arrival at 10 pm was the Cafe on the top floor which was impersonal and very hard to understand the locking up of shoes required and paying with a key from the shoe locker.

I tried to go to the Japanese restaurant that was open 24 hours, but it seemed to be inside the hot spring facility, and I was told that only those aged 4 and older could dine there.

We found the food / room service options pretty limited - unable to get milk or coffees, fruit or really any child appropriate food to the room, even at a usual dinner time.

As we stayed over Christmas time, we had planned to enjoy a good dinner at the Hotel Restaurant, yet we have been roughly asked to go somewhere because of our 8 months baby.

We were hoping to just order room service but the menu was expensive and had nothing simple for kids on it so we had to go downstairs to the food area for dinner.

The restaurant comes in handy if you get hungry in the middle of the night, but I believe they still charge the onsen fee even if you just go to the restaurant.

Food in the Spa restaurant was average - and as this was our final night in Japan, was not a great way to end the culinary part of our vacation

We had dinner at the hotel resturant which was a bit expensive but delicious and suited us as we were tired from a particularly long day of travel.

My salad starter was just ok and my partner thought his pate was unremarkable- for this with two glasses of wine each -125ml measures, It cost £174 GBP.

It's pretty amazing that on clear days, you can get a good view of Mt. Fuji from the lobby-level Italian restaurant (where breakfast is also served).

My meal better than Partners, we accepted that cost of living is more expensive in Japan so things cost more but the food was really average.

My steak and pork , steak ( wagu) very tender, pork just a normal ‘chop’ and both served with catering fries ( frozen) nothing else.

There was a good selection of drinks and cocktails at the bar and the 2 for 1 offer on check in was greatly appreciated.

Good breakfast, I enjoyed every morning. It is not the reachest choice i have ever seen, but it was definetly a good breakfast.

The soup on offer had the quality of a canned product, as did the other lukewarm components of the meal.

Restaurant was a luxurious and calm experience, which of course also had an amazing view of the river.

Tokyo restaurant tasting menu was overpriced and we weren’t drawn in by the à la carte options

There are shops not too far away though, so not the end of the world.

My partners fish and chips ( tempura style) the batter was a little soggy.

The restaurant and bar are beautifully appointed and serve wonderful food and drinks.

All this at such an exorbitant price that it is hard to believe.

Each of the 'courses' could literally have been served on a tablespoon.

We also had a wonderful dinner at their Japanese/Italian restaurant.

Restaurants and shops attached to the hotel are a plus.

The food in the restaurant in the Onsen was excellent.

If you don't want to eat in the hotel restaurant.

However, expect to have limited dining options after 8:30pm.

I spent some time waiting for my check-in time since I didn't want to pay the early check-in fee, but they let me in my room 20 min. early, basically as soon as the room was done being cleaned :)

I only spent one night there because I had a very early flight in the morning, so it was more convenient for me to get a room directly at the airport — and I was absolutely not disappointed.

I didn't like the time the room was available - 3pm in the afternoon when we arrived at 7.30 am in the morning - we had to wait nearly 8 hours after a 14hr. flight from the uk.

For an airport hotel it was disappointing that there was a surcharge for early check in and it was not taken into account that we would be checking out 10Hours before the regular check out time

Would like flexible choices for check in time as we stayed the night before early morning flight so paid for early check in but also left room v early, 3-4 hours before normal check out time

Despite having already paid for the room and a pre-authorization done on-site, the staff insisted on manually writing down the numbers of my credit card on a piece of paper as a form of "guarantee."

It's worth it for me but an option for a late, late check out or partial day stay would be nice but it's understandable why that might not be feasible for this hotel.

Takes a bit of getting used to the procedures - lockers, check in and out but definitely worth it; a fantastic experience and a great end to our 12 days in Japan.

Having to pay another full night’s charge for 6.00am checkin. This is an airport hotel in Japan. our Japanese ANA flight arrived at 5.00am. Why should we be penalized for early arrival?

We arrived before their check in time and even though the room was ready, in order to access it after our long flight, we had to pay an additional fee.

The walk from terminal to check-in (on the 4th floor) was not difficult as there were people around to ask to make sure I was headed in the right direction.

We liked the convenience of being so close to Terminal 3, so we had a short 10 minute walk to the check-in for our early morning flight the next day.

The sign to Premier could have been a bit clearer as it’s a bit confusing with Grand and we started off by trying to check in at Grand by mistake

Better service and no self-check-in (I do not understand why this is a thing in Japan, computers do not make check-in faster and families needs help with luggage).

They asked us to pay extra for the early check-in, which cost us CAD 240 Extra on top of the reservation amount which included all the amenities.

The check-in experience is also better in the sense that you are talking to a real person instead of dealing with one of the automated kiosks.

Upon returning, our suitcases—and another one delivered by Yamato Transport—had already been brought up to our room, which was a very nice touch.

Possibility to leave your luggage at the reception of the Villa Fontaine Grand hotel if you arrive before check-in time.

I can check out an hour before my flight that late and avoid the terminal as long as possible.

Requesting to stay an extra hour was only possible at a high price, until the manager intervened.

I stayed in MARRIOT Courtyard in GINZA and they did not charge us for early arrival!

On arrival one is met with an incredibly tranquil foyer and very attentive check-in staff.

Everything was very good from check-in to check-out; the staff was very nice and attentive.

Instead, we had a human to assist us both efficiently and with a smile.

It would be helpful if this could be clearly stated when making the reservation.

The next morning we had to goto Terminal 2 and either had to walk back to Terminal 3 main building and wait for a shuttle bus, OR, instead we had to order a taxi to take us from the hotel to terminal 2.

It’s connected to Haneda Terminal 3 via a bridge (you will walk for a bit but it’s all flat floor so you can roll your bags all the way to either lift or escalators up to the check in floor).

Terminal 3 is quite confusing for first time users, and we really had to wander around for a long time until we figured out how to get into the hotel.

Bang on terminal 3. Ideal if you're catching an early flight. You arrive on level 2 and take the lift to level 3 for departures. Pretty hassle free access.

Note it takes quite a bit of walk to get to the T3 terminal so it will be better to taxi to T2/T1 if you depart from there.

I think the directions to get to the hotel from terminal 3 could be better marked... after some time the directional signs started to become visible.

The property is very convenient to Haneda Airport, allowing us to shop for a few last minute gifts in the mall area and the airport too.

The ONLY issue is if you're taking a taxi, the drop off location is hard to find unless the taxi driver is familiar with the hotel.

Wish they had a people walker from arrivals or departure for people who have difficulty walking but don't need a cane or wheelchair to assist them.

In the morning we were so close to the airport departures area it probably only took us 5 mins to get there and check in.

They researched the itinerary for us and provided guidance on both booking via the JR App and also where to book in person.

It has direct access to terminal 3 but easy to get to other terminal’s by bus or monorail, also into the city.

Going to the city in the evening is rather difficult, as the train to the airport does not run for very long.

More information in writing re the lifts ie have to change and go to another wing to get to top floor.

I would suggest the hotel to offer their own private shuttle bus to transport their guests to terminals 1 and 2.

Very convenient access to Terminal 3, very kind staff who even provided us with a luggage cart to reach the airport.

So if you are travelling out of terminal 2, You will still need to take a monorail there.

We asked many questions to them about onward transportation options; booking a taxi and the bullet train.

It is quite far from the terminal especially when you are required to change from different terminals.

The airport terminal 2 is a short easy indoor walk, about 8 minutes room to check in.

Optimal for arrival and departure by plane, no dragging of luggage through the metro or train.

Airport carts available so we don't have to carry our luggage to reach the terminal

Easy access to haneda airport (on site) and option for direct bus to narita.

More directions are desirable to get to the hotel from the airport Terminal 3.

It so easy to get to the airport from this hotel!

Many guests found the fitness area Instagram-worthy, which led them to mostly walk around in the way and obstruct the passage.

The gym is a good space but needs some free weights and a cable machine to make it really excellent.

I was very pleased that the gym and hot springs were included in the accommodation fee.

I didn’t get to enjoy Onsen and spa and gym as I arrived too late.

Not obvious that the gym was free so missed out on 2 days.

Staff, location for Airport arrival/departure, room comfort, spotlessly clean, facilities/Onsen, gym etc.
