It is not just a beautiful hotel; it is a hotel where the people make you feel looked after. I would highly recommend Duxton Reserve to anyone looking for somewhere stylish, full of character and very well located in Singapore.
We had to move out in a few hours the next morning and forfeit the cost of the entire stay, no recourse. Moved to Intercontinental, great choice. Do yourself a favor and skip this choice of hotel.
If you want a boutique stay with people who know you by name, will do anything for you and a change from the commercial hotels with culture you must stay here, it is worth every penny!

At a glance, the Duxton is a lovely property; however, when you actually stay there you find that it is, in a word, AWKWARD!
But it is humid and the building is old, so some might find that to be part of the charm.
The photos they publish are fabricated, not real, misleading and deceptive. Attached here one can compare with reality.

I am so satisfied and glad I chose this hotel for my first time in Singapore.
But overall would give a 1-2 star for a 5 star price. not impressed .
We would definitely stay at Duxton Reserve again when we return to Singapore.

Otherwise the hotel is beautifully curated and we had a really great stay.
The model for a hotel is unique and targets a specialised market.
But the price is too high compared with the services

We highly recommend this place to people that visiting Singapore.
Nevertheless, I find the price of this hotel unjustified.
Real unique 5 star hotels with amazing atmosphere

Duxton Reserve great option for a short stay
Hotel Feedback: Regarding Suspected Discrimination by Staff
I will come back to stay again.

The hotel looks chic with traditional touch.
Comfortable and everything was as expected.
Would be stay there again? No.

It presents a confusing marketing message.
Great new heritage Hotel in Duxton
Duxton Reserve-A fabulous boutique hotel!

The hotel is really stunning
The entire hotel smells musty.
A Beautiful and Wonderful Hotel!

A phenomenal stay .
Disappointed compared to expectations
Fantastic and beautiful hotel

I also had the pleasure of meeting Anushka from the marketing team, who is from Nepal, as well as the General Manager, who is from England. I always find it fascinating and inspiring to meet people who have moved abroad to work and build their careers in different parts of the world. It added another lovely personal dimension to my stay.
A highlight of our stay was meeting Jeff Crow, the GM. Jeff greeted us almost every day, always warm, friendly, and genuinely appreciative. His hospitality made the stay feel personal and memorable. The team also kindly showed us other room types for future visits, which was helpful for planning our next stay.
I informed the front staff and they replaced all provisions the next day - however even the replacements were all from 2022, expired and smelt similarly rancid. I informed the staff again but nothing was done. So clearly nobody in the staff tried to understand or address the problem.

Staff were very welcoming and warm, with the hotel kindly offering us a complimentary upgrade to the Opium Suite, a honeymoon cake, and a lovely bottle of red wine after we had an unexpected bad experience travelling, which had led us to booking in.
Staff were very friendly although when compared to other 5* places (Four Seasons/Mandarin Oriental etc) they seem a little timid and not as knowledgeable/amenable but that’s really a minor observation that is scrutinizing the place very closely!
At breakfast, an Indian staff member displayed obvious differential behavior toward guests of different ethnicities: he was warm and proactive with all foreign guests—greeting them actively, guiding them enthusiastically, and even engaging in friendly conversations.

A hotel is only as good as the staff and I must say, the Bellmen were amazing! Especially Jamil! He was very sweet and brought us things to make us more comfortable even without asking.
From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Every detail was handled with care— Friendly, professional, and genuinely caring—truly 5-star service by Liqiong, Honey and Ridzuan.
I would like to thank Evelyn who stood out during the many touch points including the executive lounge service and during breakfast, she had a great attitude whilst working even when busy.

Staff: The reception and bell staff were friendly and trying their best. They helped me in whichever way they could and even sent up a birthday dessert and bottle.
From the first step we walked into the hotel, we felt the warm welcome by the doorman and all the way to the register receptionist。
They greeted each person with a warm welcome and helped me by calling a doctor to my room when I was feeling unwell.

The staff went over and above with their helpfulness and professionalism. Nothing was too much trouble especially for Jamil and Jay.
I can't say enough about the staff- friendly, helpful, attentive - simply a joy to have such an experience.
During my recent stay, I encountered extremely uncomfortable and suspected discriminatory treatment, which I wish to formally address.

Ava at the front desk was exceptionally helpful, and her bubbly personality immediately put us at ease.
Mr. Bellman Jamil take care of you 7/24 putting every efforts in help you in every way.
They made life as easy as possible and made it a very memorable end to our holiday.

Many thanks to the hospitable and helpful staff, including Danial, Ali and the ladies at reception.
Our service staff Liqiong is really friendly and helpful and we really appreciate her great service.
Staff very friendly and pointed me to a place nearby for their pool and gym.

Everyone on staff from front desk to bartenders to servers were friendly and attentive.
The staff are friendly esp Bellman Jamil who greeted me and saw me off
Jamil the bellman , always made sure we were well taken care of.

The staff was excellent! Always helpful, polite, accommodating & attentive. Excellent service!
The staff are attentive and kind making it a very welcoming environment.
Also always made sure my cup was full of iced americano.

Housekeeping kept the room spotless, and everything worked perfectly.
The staff was not able to vary -AWKWARD.
Overall the service and staff were very good.

The hotel itself was actually disappointing. We were upgraded yet our room was anything but. Sure, there's kind of a charming king size poster bed but it is in the middle of a tiny room. You have to walk sideways. Because of the bed frame, you have to enter the bed from the foot. It felt like camping. The room was oddly situated. Below street level with no natural light unless you were ok with looking at several air conditioner units and trash cans. The bathroom was another oddity. The sink counter stretched into the shower. Altogether, very dark decor. Black was the theme. We never could figure out how to turn off the closet lights.
Rooms are tiny: bed is not ‘king’ as advertised, not even queen size and can only be entered through an opening by the feet (see pic), no space to even walk around the bed. Closet is tiny as well and so is the bathroom without room on the counter for a minimal number of items. No room to open luggage and organize, or anything else for that matter. We offered to pay more for the largest suite of the hotel, but that one had just a second level with a living room area, the bedroom and bathroom where the same size as the one I booked: tiny and insufficient for comfort.

Closet is tiny as well and so is the bathroom without room on the counter for a minimal number of items. No room to open luggage and organize, or anything else for that matter.

Our room was two story. The second story was accessed via a spiral staircase-AWKWARD for getting suitcases up to the loft with the bedroom and bath. There was only one space to put a suitcase stand the room was so small. The sink in the bath took up ⅔ of the counter so no where to put your toiletries. The set up in the loft was AWKWARD.
We stayed in the Shophouse Room, which initially felt a little small, but we soon realised it was thoughtfully designed and comfortable. The heritage style is darker and cosy, and the room has window privacy covers in the form of pull‑over boards/rollers hidden behind the headboard — something we only discovered the next day, so a quick mention at check‑in would help future guests.
Our friends had a room with a large opium bed in the center of the small bedroom. An opium bed can only be exited from an opening on one side. So the person away from the opening gets to crawl over their bedmate to get out of bed-AWKWARD. I won’t go into detail about the darkness of their room….

The room itself was on the smaller side, and the lighting setup might benefit from a little more flexibility. There was one switch controlling the room lights, with spotlights directly above the bed. It could be nice to have dimmers or separate switches so guests can keep some softer lighting on while winding down in the evening.
Even worse was actually the desk - the room came with a desk that I used plenty, however there was a hanging light above the desk chair that hovered to around 5 feet tall. Almost every single time I sat down at the desk, and stood up, I hit my head against the hanging light.
The room was small but comfortable. Ample wardrobe & drawers space. It was a bit inconvenient to get into & out of king size bed as you can only get in from the end of the bed. Bed was comfortable. Lighting in room is a bit dim. Good toiletries & diffuser.

Room was not cleaned adequately - toilet paper roll in lounge room on floor. Chocolate mashed in to carpet. Not Possible to turn lights off to sleep as there was a problem with the in wardrobe light switch. Not much hot water. Couch was long and looked cool but very uncomfortable.
However, a word of caution: do not book an Opium Room if you are even slightly claustrophobic. I am not, but I still felt rather suffocated—there are only two small windows facing another wall, which makes the room feel very closed-in and a bit oppressive.
My only hit would be the bed…it had a frame that went around three sides of the bed, and the person on the frame side had to climb over the other person to get in or out. The mattress was loud and not comfortable.

After a 25 hour journey, I was looking forward to a nice bath but the shampoo smelt so off that I couldn’t figure out how to get the smell off my hair. The same happened when I used the lotion.
We had ti change room as bed in Opium Suite had railings around it so you couldn’t even get out of one side of it nor even use a bedside table.
But honestly? For a historic property, they’ve done a great job—these quirks are part of its charm, and they didn’t bother me once I got used to them.

Small room. We had to climb over each other to get out of bed. That was the negative. Especially in the middle of the night.
Later, someone stopped by our room to bring bedtime and morning elixirs. The room felt like it was out of a spy movie
But for business at least our booked room has limited workspace so it definitely have limitation for a longer work stay.

The WORST part: All the Diptyque bath provisions (lotion , shampoo, conditioner) were expired and smelt horribly rancid.
Definitely go for a larger room; we were in the Opium room and that was a squeeze.
A view of scaffolding, very noisy air conditioning, an uncomfortable bed, and a musty smell

The room is historical and boutique with lovely Diptyque products and a Bose speaker.
Also, the windows are small, so there’s not much natural light or views.
The light over the bathroom mirror, was not great for putting on makeup.

More space in the bedroom. So tight we kept banging our shins.
The design of the shower room was a bit hard to use.
Rooms v small; poorly set up; no natural light; amenities poor

We had a mishap with turndown service the first night.
The rooms were a little tired but broadly fine.
Hot water in the shower runs low after 6-8min.

The hotel is perfectly located in Duxton Hill, one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Singapore. Surrounded by beautiful heritage shophouses, restaurants, bars and cafés, it is incredibly easy to explore the city from here, while still feeling like you are staying in a real neighbourhood rather than in a purely tourist area.
The location is excellent — close to MRT lines, easy to navigate, and walking distance to many places. We walked to Lau Pa Sat and Chinatown easily, and late‑night dining options nearby were convenient, though some restaurants close around 9pm.
The location is fantastic and you can get to Chinatown on foot within 5 mins and the surrounding area is lovely to be in as it has charm and not commercial like marina bay sands.

Excellent location, a gorgeous area with the traditional shopfront restaurants and cafes. Close to a train station, bus route. Easy to get to the Marina Bay area if you're after the walk and exploration.
However, one very big caveat, the street noise in the rooms at the front of the hotel means I would not stay there again unless a room at the back could be guaranteed.
The hotel location is very convenient. Very near two MRT stations and 3 major bus routes, a 7 minute walk to China town. And the Maxwell food center is nearby.

The street in front of the hotel is quiet and attractive with shophouses on both sides. You feel that you live in a neighborhood rather than a modern development complex.
Very short walk to Chinatown and the temples we wanted to visit as well as the hawker food hall where we ate a few delicious meals for very cheap prices.
And the location on a smaller side street in the vibrant Chinatown neighborhood put me right near all of the interesting shops but was a quiet cozy location.

He recommended I visit Maxwell Food Centre for dinner, which was only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel and turned out to be a fantastic local experience.
Duxton Reserve is located in Chinatown Singapore and within walking distance of Maxwell Food Centre and the MRT subway, making it very convenient for exploring the city.
A lovely, unique property on a charming street in Chinatown. There was so much to do and see within a short walk of the hotel.

The location is also great, since we could walk to plenty of great restaurants and food stalls as well as the Maxwell train station.
Initially I was looking around the Marina area since that's where the majority of activies are but the Duxton Reserve really caught my eye.
It was so convenient to everything! It's a 2 minute walk from the Maxwell station and it's surrounded by different eateries and food centers.

Great location with lots of cool bars and fantastic restaurants surrounding the property... enjoyed exploring this part of Singapore for a change.
Centrally located with lost of great restaurants within walking distance. China town is just a quick 3-4 block walk.
Location can’t be beaten—it’s right in the city center, steps from the MRT and a food court.

Very Convenient and close by china town ,you can walk about 5min to Maxwell and Supermarket.
It’s just a short walk from a local hawker centre—a must-try for anyone visiting Singapore.
I'd recommend a minimum of 2-3 nights to enjoy the property and explore the surroundings.

Very central location. Lots of restaurants, bars, cafes, hawkers centre in the vicinity..
On a picturesque street. With good night life in the local area.
The hotel is located in great walking location adjacent to Chinatown.

Visiting the gardens and the Orchids are a must .
Explored gardens by the bay for a few hours
The hotel’s location is very convenient and easily accessible.

There are plenty of nice restaurant and bars around.
Best place to stay in Duxton Hills
Wonderful hotel in a fantastic neighborhood.

The hotel itself is something special. Set within historic shophouses, it has been designed by renowned British designer Anouska Hempel, and the interiors have an incredible sense of character. The combination of heritage architecture, bold colours, black lacquer, gold details and Oriental influences makes the hotel feel completely different from a typical luxury hotel. It is full of personality.
On top of that, we had just gotten engaged two days before our arrival and had informed the hotel, hoping for at least a small gesture or acknowledgment. Unfortunately, nothing was arranged, and it was never mentioned, which was disappointing given the occasion.
The stay also includes cocktails, snacks and small bites at the hotel’s lounge, which is a wonderful touch and makes it a lovely place to unwind at the end of the day.

One particular benefit is the Executive Menu for snacks and drinks, they don’t have a Marriott M Club, but offer amenities to members through the day in the lounge.
Some practicalities of getting a heavy bag up stairs & into the lobby or up the curved staircase in the deluxe suite could be an issue for some.
I was pleaded to be emailed prior to arrival to be advised I was upgraded as a platinum member and would have club, breakfast and laundry included

The decoration of the hotel from the minute we walked in to the stairs, dining areas, lounge and guest room are all so elegant and unforgetable.
As soon as you arrive you have an eastern ritual which was great after travelling 17 hours and definitely recommended to immerse yourself in the culture.
The club lounge is very small with uncomfortable seating. Beware of limited drinks and food in the club. Small measures and bad food.

Perks provided include yoga classes, freebies in the room and even a free consultation with a local Doctor who practices traditional Chinese medicine.
We also like the hotel’s decoration and the sense of architecture, a blend with Western and Eastern’s classical folk elements, really great!
Furthermore, we paid more than half the price of an overnight stay with breakfast for day use; that is somewhat excessive.

This Autograph Collection property offers lounge access for Marrriott Elite members, and the hors d’oeuvres were delicious—better than Sheraton’s cocktail hours.
Interior can be modernised slightly, particularly with the fact that a fair amount of appliances / furnitures were chipped and stained.
Tea types could improve to add quality herbal teas like peppermint and chamomile, lighting switches a little hard to find

The hotel itself had personality, was well decorated, clean and a nice refuge from the heat of the surrounding area.
The interior decor in the reception, restaurant, bar and executive lounge is unique but with a homely and welcoming feel.
The Chinese doc is a great additional experience, both my wife and I used the service and it was amazing.

Wonderful conversion of a row of shophouse into a classy property and a bold choice of colour scheme-- very chic!
Honestly it smells bad, il smells old and humid all the time, in the rooms and in the lobbies.
It is an old, historic hotel, so this cannot be helped, but there are also stairs inside the hotel.

The hotel is very well decorated and the choice of colors and interior design is very unique.
The condition of building is a bit old due to its historic background but maintained well.
We thought the hotel was absolutely fabulous. All black lacquer and gold, stunning interior design.

7am fire alarm(!) didn’t help with a good night sleep.
S$32 for a Gin and Tonic!!!!! Pretty outrageous.
Quality and originality of the decor

I missed the big hotel amenities
And amenities of the hotel.
And cake on the day.

Breakfast that you order from a menu was free but you could not vary from the menu. If you wanted a piece of toast you had to order the egg breakfast, etc., a second cup of coffee meant a new cup not a simple refill.
I was pleaded to be emailed prior to arrival to be advised I was upgraded as a platinum member and would have club, breakfast and laundry included
Food: they provide complementary breakfast, snacks and drinks which is great (but an extremely limited menu. for eg. a choice of the same 2 cocktails e veryday).

Lee Chung made breakfast feel like an auntie was serving us all her home dishes and she even helped take some pics of us.
The breakfast was one of the best I've had in any hotel! I tried almost everything on the breakfast menu and was not disappointed.
The breakfast staff (Ali) was barely able to manage even 3 covers with messed up orders, missing basics (like constantly forgetting cutlery, water)

Breakfast was good, poached eggs a little overcooked and coffee is obvoiusly machine coffee and not barista coffee. The coffee could be better.
Breakfast is top-tier—no boring buffets here, just a full a la carte menu with tons of options, all crafted to perfection.
I would recommend to widen the choices of breakfast with some local taste. Anyway, the breakfast was indeed proper and tasty.

The staff even prepped a to-go breakfast for us because we had to leave early for our flight the next morning.
Breakfast was lovely but the staff very unhappy if you deviated from the system- eg wanting to wait between courses.
Breakfast and cocktail hours serve tasty and restaurant quality food and have good selection of menu you can choose from.

Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious à la carte, though service slowed down after 9am during busy periods.
As I was leaving very early, the team also prepared a wonderful breakfast to take with me.
The perks of staying, included breakfast, the afternoon tea and the evening drinks and snacks were delicious.

Breakfast is À la carte, the chocie is limited a bit but evey dish is carefully prepared.
She even took the initiative to call the kitchen and arrange a takeaway breakfast for us
The breakfast here is delicious! It was better than the regular 5 star breakfast I expected.

Every dish felt thoughtful and high-quality, and the service was attentive without being overbearing.
Special call out to the breakfast staff (I was usually served by 2 ladies)
Ours came out quickly every morning, and the breakfast waitstaff were very pleasant.

The breakfast is delicious - a la carte not a bog standard buffet.
The breakfast included for most is quite substantial with lots of choices.
Breakfast while limited to a fixed menu, is quite good and healthy

Amazing masala chai and acai bowl at breakfast!
And breakfast every morning in the Yellow Pot
We particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast.

Breakfast speed during busy hours;
Fabulous breakfast-good variety & delicious!
And, of course, breakfast.

The service during evening cocktails was inconsistent. We ordered appetizers, but they were mistakenly given to another guest. Even when the guest pointed out that they were actually ours, the staff just brushed it off. We never received our food and eventually left. It felt like it simply didn’t matter to them—and that’s not cool. We never went back for evening cocktails after that.
I also had the opportunity to dine at Yellow Pot, the hotel’s modern Chinese restaurant, and it was one of the highlights of my stay. I loved the way it offers a contemporary perspective on Chinese cuisine while remaining rooted in its traditions. It is a really interesting dining experience and definitely worth trying while staying at the hotel.
You can always count on this place for delicious food and warm, attentive service. The menu offers a wide range of choices, each dish freshly prepared and nicely presented. Staff are friendly, polite, and ready to help, which makes the dining experience relaxed and enjoyable. A reliable spot to return to.

And her Negroni was always on point! She went out of her way to ask the chef to adjust one of the appetizers because of my need for a gluten free option.
The best part of the hotel was the daily cocktail hours from 5pm to 8pm. each one of us got 3 cocktails and the hors devours were the highlight of the trip。
Best best food and also the services is top not h!! nice place alsooo . I love love it! Will be back again when i’m back in spore heheheh!

The food was tasty: we ordered the duck and the beef for the main dish and it was tasty. For the appetizer we ordered chicken and fried fish.
The nightly happy hour is another win: great drinks and tasty bites (even if portions are small, the quality more than makes up for it).
I had a birthday dinner every morning in the Yellow Pot and you must eat here as the food is out of this world!

That may be the only drink not well made though because we had the most amazing espresso martini and negroni upon check in!
The ambiance is elegant, featuring a striking black and gold interior designed by Anouska Hempel. Signature dishes like the Roast Duck and Wok-seared
The one thing I would say was definitely not worth the value were the old fashioned drinks we ordered at the bar.

One amazing feature not expected was the afternoon tea menu going on to the early evening menu of drinks and nibbles.
Fantastic staff, super friendly and delicious food. Couldn’t be more helpful and highly recommend. Food was piping hot, very tasty!
It cost nearly 70 Singapore dollars for 2 and were extremely watery and not well made for the cost.

We didn’t dine in the hotel restaurant often as we usually arrived back late and it had closed.
Plus, the restaurant’s artful decor adds such a nice vibe—eating there never felt like a typical hotel meal.
The bar and restaurant were quiet and the food and beverages were just what we wanted.

Our package included daily nibbles, drinks, and evening cocktails, which added a lovely boutique feel.
The restaurant is great and there’s outdoor seating too if the weather isn’t too sticky.
Visited Yellowpot to celebrate my hubby birthday and the experience is so wonderful!

The food is really good as well, very well prepared and high quality.
Nice experience We had a very nice experience for dinner with my family.
The cocktails are strong and not watered down which was lovely to see.

There’s a lovely bar with great cocktails & drinks & great snacks.
There’s a lovely bar with great cocktails & drinks & great snacks.
Let’s start with the star of the show: the food and drinks.

My favorite cocktail was Plum sour made by Ridzuan, best ever.
Dinner at the Yellow Pot was outstanding in all regards.
Cocktails were delicious in the bar.

We checked in early at 6:30am (having booked the night before), and the lady at reception was incredibly warm and welcoming at that hour. She checked us in smoothly and arranged for our bags to be placed in the room straight away.
Booking through Expedia and choosing ‘pay at property’ having the opportunity to view the room prior to check-in is not real: they charge the full amount of the entire stay days prior to arrival and there is no recourse.
Booking through Expedia and choosing ‘pay at property’ having the opportunity to view the room prior to check-in is not real: they charge the full amount of the entire stay days prior to arrival and there is no recourse.

The receptionist who checked us in had given us a room that did not suit us at all, but the next day, a very friendly receptionist changed our room and everything went rather well.
We had to move out in a few hours the next morning and forfeit the cost of the entire stay, no recourse.
Janice was the one that checked us in and she explained everything so clearly and answered all the questions that we had.

Friendly, but rather slow, check-in, after which my room key card didn’t work and I had to go back to reception again.
However, the concept I believe is fractured, when loud hip music greets the client on checkin and throughout the stay.
She was also very communicative through WhatsApp to have our desired drinks ready upon our check in.

Upon check in I was told no laundry as I was using point for my stay.
Part of the poor accommodation for late checkout maybe the fact that we booked through Expedia.
They were not accommodating of late checkout even though we had 4 rooms total resrved.

I plan to return to Six Senses Duxton because the service from checking in
We had the most amazing espresso martini and negroni upon check in!
We arrived early and managed to get into our room (much appreciated!)

And was asked to wait 45 minutes on a chair.
I was told no as I was checking out
On the last day I had late checkout

And told me when can i check in.
Told the front desk when I checked out
Checked in at 0200 and dropped dead immediately.

Beautiful Experience from check-in to check-out
Making check-in quick and easy.
Check-in was a breeze

Hotel room wasn’t ready
Upon our arrival
Checking me in.

Smooth Check-In

They did mess up my airport drop - they called me a regular taxi which I thought was included (they did send a similar taxi for the airport pickup after all), so it was unpleasant when the cab asked me to pay up upon reaching the airport.
Another detail I really appreciated was the complimentary chauffeur transfer to and from the airport. After travelling, having someone waiting for you at the airport and taking you directly to the hotel makes such a difference.
My concerns about getting around were quickly allayed since the Maxwell train station was a 5 min walk and a few other ones were just a bit further out.

On my departure day, I had to change my transportation arrangements at very short notice, and she immediately went out of her way to help me reorganise everything.
There was an issue when we arrived: the driver did not come to pick us up, and we lost a great deal of time, which was stressful.
Taking the elevator does not mean rolling your luggage to your room, the levels don’t match and you still have to take the stairs.

Taking the elevator does not mean rolling your luggage to your room, the levels don’t match and you still have to take the stairs.
The ride to the airport was really fast and the cost of using Grab for rides to other major tourist destinations was reasonably priced.
Transfers were included, and the team ensured we were picked up and dropped off on time in comfortable vehicles.

I arrived at the hotel with frustration because my luggage was missing due to the airline’s fault.
But doesnt seem to be known by a lot of drivers, taxi & rideshare alike.
As we needed to leave for the airport at 5:30 a.m.

Exploring Singapore is easy transportation clean and run to time.
Arrived early as we disembarked a cruise ship
Excellent spot for a connected trip to Singapore

Also helped with the train service.
You need to use a taxi.
The airport-to-hotel transfer was perfect.

We were surprised to understand that the pool was in a different building
The pool is a short walk away in the sister building
Lack of swimming pool on the same hotel

Shame that there was no spa or pool.
Use of The Maxwell hotel pool
The pool was very disappointing
