Guests repeatedly praise the peaceful, nature-filled setting, heritage architecture, cozy rooms, convenient Sentosa location, attentive staff, and relaxing pools. However, many report an aging, poorly maintained property with dirty carpets, cleanliness issues, limited amenities, inconsistent service, and outdated facilities. Several consider it overpriced and far below its advertised five-star standard.

It’s advertise as a 5 star resort and it did not meet these standards the rooms were fine and nice enough however breakfast was not included (even though it stated that it was) the staff were not very friendly and welcoming as you would expect them to be and they weren’t that helpful either.

★ 4.0Couple

For what I have explained above in what I liked should have wrote it in this bit... but you get what I'm trying to say if you are charging the amount you charge for these rooms then they need to be more of a higher standard.. without faults

★ 7.0Couple

If you've ever wondered what $1,000 for two nights buys you in a supposedly five-star hotel, Amara Sanctuary Sentosa has the answer: a tired property, poor service, and food that wouldn't look out of place at a petrol station.

★ 4.0Couples

As it was a big birthday for him, we decided to splurge on our staycation and it was a massive disappointment - such a difference from our last stay with them.

★ 6.0

I feel a sense of place and heritage, from the British era, this resort perfectly balances the island’s rich history with contemporary features.

★ 10.0Couples

Lacks some spontaneity, no one introduced the facilities or the resort in general, no directions given to explore the surroundings.

★ 4.0

We had a really lovely stay at Amara Sanctuary Resort and overall enjoyed our time there a lot.

★ 10.0Family

This hotel is very run down but nothing has been done to adjust the prices to reflect that.

★ 2.0Partner

I think there is a need to improve the resort exterior and interior, and the customer service.

★ 4.0Family with Children

Sadly it was very rainy when I was there - not something the hotel could help with.

★ 8.0Solo Travel

I do NOT recommend this Hotel, unless you do not care about quality, but location was good.

★ 3.0Couple

Cleanliness is a real turn down for this property considering this is a 5 star property.

★ 6.0Couple

To be fair to guests, it should be advertised as a hotel with breakfast included!

★ 3.0Couple

The reception could have some more information about attractions, and what we should/could book.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Will recommend this place to my friend and we will come here again.

★ 10.0Family

Although it's cheaper than most, the lousy experience just isn't worth the discount.

★ 2.0Family

Lovely and quiet, and waking up to the sounds of peacocks calling.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Nothing, the structure is really bad with a poor value for money.

★ 3.0Couple

Quite get away, despite the peacocks on the roof.

★ 8.0Couple

The paint in the hallways way a bit tired.

Staff: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

374 relevant reviews

Staff are frequently described as friendly, helpful, attentive and accommodating, with repeated praise for Shazriena, security officer Farid, and individual restaurant, concierge and buggy staff. However, service is highly inconsistent: some guests report rude or uninterested front desks, poor communication, unanswered calls, and staff responding I don’t know, while others experienced prompt, exceptional care.

Staff at Sanctuary tearoom restaurant were very friendly like Siti and Sarah, as well as the gentleman making the eggs (sorry forgot his name), who went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

★ 7.0Family with Children

From the moment you walk through the doors, she greets you with the warmest smile and somehow always remembers your name — it makes the whole experience feel personal and welcoming.

★ 7.0Family with Children

The service team was patient and attentive even though there were big groups all coming at the same time to have lunch at Sanctuary Tea Room that day.

★ 10.0Business

When I asked if there was a microwave to warm my dog’s medication meals, I was told, “I don’t know. You’ll have to call reception yourself.”

★ 2.0Couples

It would be wonderful if the hotel staff can deliver our grab food to the room instead of guests meeting the driver at the lobby.

★ 8.0Family

We were not provided with any information about hotel facilities except where the breakfast area is and the shuttle schedule towards Vivo City.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Front desk service and be better . Not consistent , Putri is nice, though she can learn to be more customer oriented.

★ 8.0Couple

Had to call again to request (different staff answered) , and waited another 10mins for the cutlery set to be delivered.

★ 4.0Couple

I had an amazing experience, with MJ she exudes confidence and warmth personality, being the receptionist she always smiles genuinely.

★ 10.0Business

Instead of discarding it, she simply picked it up and handed it to me as if nothing had happened.

★ 1.0Couple

A thank you was shout out from a male staff member that was behind the very cold Malay lady.

★ 9.0Family with Children

I also wanted to give a big thank you to MJ and the team at the Tea House.

★ 10.0Family

Shout out to the philipino lady at the restaurant, she’s most helpful, no request is too extreme.

★ 8.0Family with Children

The manager MJ greets you like family to ensure your experience is not just another buffet breakfast.

★ 10.0Couples

Thank you, Mr. Farid and the security team, for making our experience so pleasant and memorable.

★ 10.0Business

The service is worse than that of a small hotel that costs 1,000 yuan a night.

★ 2.0Family with Children

Staff seems to be unable to cope but cannot fault them as it was peak period.

★ 8.0Family with Children

The front desk staff were also polite and friendly, which made our experience slightly better.

★ 6.0Friends Getaway

A special shoutout to MJ for the friendliest and exceptional service rendered during our stay.

★ 10.0None

Staff service is severely lacking and poor, except for one particular staff named MJ.

★ 5.0Couple

Service overall was dismal - lobby staff avoided eye contact and barely acknowledged guests.

★ 2.0Couple

Special thanks to MJ for a wonderful assistance while taking our breakfast as well.

★ 8.0Family

His dedication to providing exceptional service is a real credit to the hotel.

★ 10.0Business

The winner for the best employee goes to MJ from the Santuary tearoom.

★ 10.0Family

One of the restaurant staff (seemingly head of waiter/waitress) was arrogant and rough.

★ 8.0Couple

No welcoming at all and when we queried the $30 food n drink voucher that was part of our booking we were met with reluctance to provide this and had to again show the accommodation booking to prove this was part of our reservation.

★ 5.0Family with Children

MJ and the staff from the Tearoom, where we had breakfast and lunch, as well as Suresh from concierge were all very friendly, greeting us and the kids well, taking time to chat, and doing their best to make us feel at home.

★ 10.0Family with Children

The lobby staff ( Shiz ) and the tea room staff ( MJ ) are the best they were so humble , kind , helpful, and they always welcomed us with a smile and a great greeting loved them so much 🥹❤️❤️❤️

★ 8.0Couples

Lack of customer service: Don’t feel welcomed - no one helped with luggages at the drop off, recept doesnt give eye contact to say hello or good bye, no one answer the call when we call the operator (5 times).

Rooms: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

339 relevant reviews

Room experiences vary widely: some guests praise spacious, comfortable rooms, pool-access rooms, villas, views, and occasional upgrades. Recurring complaints include musty or cigarette smells, dated and worn furnishings, poor maintenance, dirty or moldy bathrooms, damaged fixtures, old towels, incomplete housekeeping, insects, and room photos not matching reality. Soundproofing is also weak.

Room was in miserable condition, phones not even working so could not get any form of room service, toilet sink cracked and not fixed, carpets stale and air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted so kids were freezing midway through the night and our only option was to turn it off.

★ 3.0Family with Children

In room dining menu is very limited and their msg bot service actually missed our order, we waited an hr for food to arrive and thats only because we called to confirm the order.

★ 4.0

First, we entered a normal room, but unfortunately, the window wouldn't open, and there was intense humidity and odor, which made us uncomfortable and we wanted to change rooms.

★ 8.0Couple

There is a wooden window outside of the glass window and you have to open the glass window to close the wooden window to get some privacy.

★ 7.0Couple

I had to send my wife to the nearby clinic to see a doctor to ease the pain n swelling on the spots that got bitten…

★ 2.0Couple

Overall, while the older rooms could benefit from refurbishment, the newer Verandah accommodations and the service we received made for a very enjoyable stay.

★ 8.0Family

This main building is covered in mould externally, leaks from the roof throughout hallways, ripped towels provided, broken outdoor furniture, mouldy shower etc.

★ 5.0Couple

The bathroom was really not maintained, paint pulled from condensation, stains on bench tops, shower screens not level (so door couldn't close).

★ 1.0Family with Children

We had dirty glasses from our first night still sitting there on our last night and some items were not replenished.

★ 6.0Family

We were put in the Courtyard Suite which was in fact better as it was closer to the Verandah Studio.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Originally, being pregnant made my sleep shallow, but the fact that I couldn't sleep well at night was a disadvantage.

★ 6.0Couple

The room was very dusty, there was trash under the beds from other guests, the pillows were a nightmare.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Large room in older building, comfortable bed & pillows, with view of trees & to sea from balcony.

★ 9.0Couple

The first room was not up to standard for a 5-star hotel; that really needs to be addressed.

★ 7.0Couple

The room cleaners could do with some extra training as their attention to detail was somewhat lacking.

★ 8.0Family

Sometimes it is noisy background sound at tonight coming from some sort of machine or A/C sounds.

★ 8.0Couple

The hotel rooms are a little runned down but still fair for the price you pay

★ 8.0Family with Children

The villas of the hotel are all located located about 30-40 meters from a gigantic rollercoaster.

★ 1.0Family with Children

The room was spacious with large bathrooms and high ceilings, and the bed was comfortable.

★ 9.0Couple

Some parts of the the hotel that have not been renovated/updated, including the main building.

★ 6.0Family with Children

Bathroom shower head and tap can be better if they can upgrade a better one.

★ 8.0Partner

The room was bigger than we expected and was extremely cosy for the kids.

★ 10.0Family

Usually handicapped room has handle bar and the toilet has a proper shower head.

★ 7.0Couple

It's rare to have such a spacious stay in a hotel in Singapore.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Clean nice and comfy but not particularly value for money in my opinion

★ 5.0Family with Children

The shower floor is moldy, there are cockroaches in the room, the phone is broken and cannot contact the front desk, I had to call using my mobile phone and no one answered, the bathtub drain valve is broken, there is a continuous loud motor noise for at least 15-30 minutes every night around 9-10:30 PM, and the shuttle has size restrictions for luggage, which makes it difficult to use effectively.

★ 4.0Family with Children

Since it had an adjoining internal door, after not getting any sleep due to the noise coming from this door in the adjacent bedroom where there was a family with two small children who always screamed and cried and sounded like they were in our room, we asked to change rooms for the second and last night.

★ 5.0Couple

The furniture is old and worn, the carpets are torn, the curtains are stained, the sheets and carpets are stained, the mattress is of very poor quality, it's dirty; when we entered the room, we found a dirty tissue under the sink and there was no soap to wash our hands.

★ 1.0Family with Children

As for the room and other areas of the grounds, this hotel should barely qualify for 3 stars; stains on bathroom tiling, cheap vinyl covering bathroom window (which had holes in it anyway), chipped veneer all over, aircon vents appeared never to have been cleaned, stained bedding, no balcony seating.

★ 4.0

With regard to the cleanliness of the room, there were water stains all over the sink, the tap kept splashing water all over the sink, and the tap kept moving every single time we used it, toilet couldn’t flush very well and tiles in the shower room had gaps.

Location: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

234 relevant reviews

The hotel is repeatedly praised for its central Sentosa location, walkable access to beaches, Universal Studios, Resorts World, restaurants, and attractions, plus nearby monorail, public buses, and hotel shuttles. Guests also value the quiet, green tropical setting. However, it may be unsuitable for guests with mobility issues, and some found it distant from USS or convenience stores.

The hotel location for all the activities on Sentosa was great and we were only a 5 mins walk to the monorail for travel to the mainland which is free for all people staying on the island.

★ 6.0Family

Location is a bit far ,you will need to get the hotel shuttle in order to go to MRT and if you miss the last MRT you will need to come to the hotel by grab.

★ 10.0Extended Group

If you're looking for a change, you can walk 5–10 minutes to Resorts World Sentosa or VivoCity (about a 10-minute ride by monorail or taxi), where there are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and convenience stores.

★ 10.0Family with Children

The hotel also offers its own shuttle bus (with fixed times), which is helpful, but it’s great to have the flexibility of the public transport option as well.

★ 8.0Family

Great location if you want to take advantage of all the attractions at Sentosa - it's about a 10 minute walk to Universal Studios.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Area was nice and quiet and only a 10 minute walk to monorail which was not an issue for us.

★ 9.0Couple

★ 10.0Family

Breakfast: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

231 relevant reviews

Breakfast is usually praised as plentiful, varied, fresh, and suitable for different cuisines, with attentive staff—especially MJ. However, recurring complaints cite overcrowding, noise, long queues, slow table clearing, insufficient staffing, and cramped seating. Several guests found the selection basic or limited for the price, with poor vending-machine coffee and juices.

The breakfast menu is very good .. the ingredients are fresh and the people there are very co-operative .. the variety of things to eat in buffet is amazing .. they have variety for vegetarians also .. and the ambience is very good to sit and relax

★ 10.0Family

That said, while the service was great, the breakfast food options themselves were not quite on the same level as some other hotels we have stayed at in Singapore, including the Fullerton hotels and Shangri-La, particularly in terms of variety.

★ 10.0Family

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to MJ (the main host in their breakfast buffet restaurant.) She is full of energy engaging with all the guest from one table to another and really stands out among the rest.

★ 10.0Couples

Breakfast was chaotic and badly managed, with long queues to be seated, queues several people deep for coffee, long waits for the egg station, and on some mornings not even being able to get a table inside.

★ 4.0Family

Breakast : 1 lady with a single small frying pan to make eggs for approx 60 guests - and people in a queue for an egg !!

★ 3.0Family with Children

Breakfast was amazing, the daily changes to some cuisines made it great, you don't feel like you are having same thing every day.

★ 10.0Family with Children

The food at breakfast was not fresh and I got food poisoning (vomiting) within a few hours of consuming it.

★ 6.0Family with Children

Pool: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

143 relevant reviews

Pool experiences were mixed: rooftop pools often offered beautiful views and some guests enjoyed clean, quiet or private facilities, but the main recurring problems were closures for maintenance, small size, limited loungers, no bar or food service, missing towels, and worn or broken tiles. Garden pools were frequently shaded and affected by mosquitoes; children’s safety and adults-only enforcement were also concerns.

At one point we were swimming in one of the pools and a pool maintenance person came and did a water test and then proceeded to pour what appeared to be a bucket of chlorine into the pool whilst my son and I were swimming in it so we promptly hopped out.

★ 5.0Family with Children

Of the two resort pools, one was permanently in shade and just over a main road from a roller coaster (noise including screaming!), and the other had only six liloes and an out-of-service jacuzzi (it was planked over!) with a broken phone and inoperative QR code to get refreshments.

★ 6.0Family

One of the main reasons we booked was because of their Roof top pool and Dream pool. So was very annoyed and disappointed to find out after arriving that the Roof top was booked out for a private event and dream pool closed for renovation.

★ 7.0Couple

Our son was a bit afraid of the pool as it is an infinity pool that doesn't have a shallow end which meant we had to be in there with him all of the time.

★ 9.0Family with Children

The infinity pool on the 4th floor is advertised as adults only but there were children frequently there & it was busy & noisy despite having another large pool with children's pool close by.

★ 9.0Couple

Pool has cracked tiles all around it with really poor facilitates, such as shower room (dirty, falling apart) which was awful especially when last day with a late flight was all you could use.

★ 5.0Family with Children

The sheltered cover at the pool is good as there was big wind n rain last night but the fallen leaves did not fall into our private pool to create a mess.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Just alittle tiny bit disappointed that there wasnt warm water type of jacuzzi i read on website but lucky still, it was cool temperature (not too cold) to enjoy the mini pool.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Small rooftop swimming pool with only enough room for 6 deckchairs and some of it blocked off for maintenance that looks like it had been like that for many months

★ 7.0Couple

Never got to use the pool as it was tiny, like a bathtub and always full of kids, shouting, having fun and jumping into the water all the time.

★ 3.0Couple

One of the pumps in the room pool was broken and making a very loud noise which meant you couldn't relax in the pool.

★ 6.0Couple

The sky pool and its proximity to our room, which was in the same block and on the same floor.

★ 6.0Family with Children

Also, the pool upstairs was mediocre, beautiful view but many things are rickety or broken, from tiles to edges.

★ 10.0Family with Children

Not a 5 star hotel when you order pool food & it gets served almost 1 hour later.

★ 4.0Partner

The swimming pool is lovely but would be improved with a drinks service, unless I missed that.

★ 8.0Family

This pool is riddled with mosquitos, to the point where my legs were covered in bites.

★ 5.0Couple

The pools, both the rooftop pool and the regular pool, are not really inviting to mention.

★ 8.0Couple

The infinity pool had towels thrown on a shelving and had uncleared food left on chairs.

★ 2.0Family

★ 5.0Family with Children

Facilities: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

139 relevant reviews

The resort offers spacious, relaxing grounds with lush gardens, peacocks, two pools, nature views, kid-friendly amenities, and a VivoCity shuttle. However, repeated reports describe dated, deteriorating buildings, dirty or mouldy areas, rust, worn carpets, poor housekeeping, missing towels, and safety concerns, with facilities often judged below five-star expectations and overpriced.

...took the initiative to personally decorate the bedroom for our parents' anniversary and even helped arrange for us to be moved to a larger villa so there would be enough space to comfortably accommodate the tables and chairs for our family gathering.

★ 10.0Family

On the 4th floor one there looked to be a spa that was closed for maintenance and was taped off but both of these areas could have been a bit more appealing with some more decor, lights and some music.

★ 6.0Family

The housekeeping trolleys also made quite a lot of noise while being push from point A to B, I would suggest looking into better wheels that are pneumatic which might be easier to maneuver, and also a lot quieter.

★ 10.0Partner

Our outdoor pool area was not cleaned for the first five days, used towels were left outside, requests for replacement towels and bed linen were repeatedly missed, and basic details were often not followed through properly.

★ 4.0Family

There are 2 pools, one is tucked away at the front of the hotel and very covered and the other is on the 4th floor with an infinity look over the gardens and to the shore.

★ 6.0Family

Service can be improved, operator service calls are very slow to pick up (or at all), room service response is slow especially food, please give at least 45-60 mins to order any food. In advance.

★ 5.0Solo Traveller

Everything is great, from the staff and their good treatment and respect, to the facilities, to the speed of service at check-in and check-out. Everything is wonderful and beautiful for me and my family.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Felt like they did some fixes hostel style with ikea lamps, like a cheap upgrade vs really putting in some effort to make the stay more memorable on the little touches.

★ 5.0Couple

It was a shame that there was no atmosphere at either of the pool areas - no attendant present and multiple times there were no towels available to either.

★ 6.0Family

It would have been a lot better if there are also other activities aside from swimming, like pool table and any other fun stuff for the kids.

★ 8.0Family with Children

The team also thoughtfully arranged the tables and chairs for our guests, including accommodating one wheelchair-bound family member, making everything seamless for our celebration.

★ 10.0Family

The glass on the doors has finger prints and for multiple days, the shiny lift buttons need to be cleaned regularly

Restaurant: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

80 relevant reviews

Dining feedback is mixed: many guests praise delicious food, generous portions, relaxing ambience, and especially warm, attentive service at Sanctuary Tearoom, often mentioning MJ. Others report average or overpriced meals, limited variety and local or halal choices, while Verve has recurring complaints about long waits, incorrect orders, missing drinks, and lukewarm food. Villa access can be difficult in rain.

Again it took a long time to get some drinks brought up from calling room service - I have a feeling that they use the restaurants next door for all their food and drinks so that may have caused the delay.

★ 6.0Family

I highly recommend the Tea Room at Amara Sanctuary, Sentosa for a value for money and tasty meal, with their various promotions, for the excellent service provided as well as for its ambience.

★ 10.0Friends Getaway

We went to the restaurant attached to Amara for dinner one night ‘Verve bar and grill’ and it took over an hr to get our food, despite not many people being there.

★ 5.0Family with Children

The Friday/Saturday evening buffet looked amazing and we wanted to try it on the Saturday we were there, but there was an event (wedding) going on, so it wasn’t available to us.

★ 9.0Extended Group

On our first night we received a lovely bottle of wine and fruit platter but no bottle opener so have to wait over 40 mins for them to bring one up.

★ 6.0Family

If you go into the restaurant that same sprite you get for free will be charged at 9 dollars plu plus and end up over 10 dollars.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Avoid the Verve Bar and Grill, while I understand it is “external” to the hotel I would have expected a better quality option at the site.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Also thumbs up to the service by Jennifer and Wulan and not forgetting chef Cheekin who accommodated my request to have a nice bbq photo!

★ 10.0Family

This has to be changed if you are giving the guest free sprite in the rooms why slug them for 10 dollars in the restaurant.

★ 9.0Family with Children

You should call it pets acceptable, or pets tolerated as the whole concept is to maximise all tables that nobody else wanna sit at.

★ 2.0Family

At the end of the day, we just wanted to eat at the Resort, but I felt the menu was short on local variety.

★ 9.0Couple

Had lunch in the sanctuary restaurant lovely food and staff especially MJ who was so lovely and happy and couldn’t do enough for us.

★ 8.0Couples

The lunch at Amara was great - service made up for it with MJ, she was great, friendly and very helpful as well!

★ 10.0Family

Interconnection mostly to reach restaurant from the villa was a little difficult especially when raining and when atmosphere is Humid.

★ 10.0Family with Children

Except perhaps the menu for the evening restaurant could have done with more choice, especially more local Singapore cuisine.

★ 9.0Couple

On site restaurant was expensive for dinner and food was average, but the breakfast buffet wasn't the best.

★ 6.0Solo Traveller

The reason I am stating it here is so that the management will understand how wrong this is.

★ 9.0Family with Children

The food was excellent and had such a diverse variety of english and asian food available.

★ 10.0Family

Management should consider on this options as customers profile change and especially from the Middle East.

★ 8.0Couple

The offering was very mediocre, very busy inside and too little staff for a good experience.

★ 10.0Family with Children

Try not to over indulge so you can enjoy the restaurant later in the evening.

★ 10.0Couples

Had lunch at Amara Sanctuary Tearoom with family on weekend, 28 March 2026.

★ 10.0Family

Restaurant has limited choice menu, food is cold or barely cooked (chicken chops).

★ 2.0

Dinner & dessert (chicken burger & ice cream) set me back $52!

★ 4.0

The hotel restaurant closes before 10 and has a limited variety

★ 10.0Couple

Amazing job MJ, made my mom and dad feel relaxed!

★ 10.0Family

It did not feel like a 5 star resort.

★ 5.0Family with Children

I genuinely laughed when our $20 nachos arrived.

The ambience of the restaurant was very relaxing.

Even the restaurant food is so delicious.

Check-in / Check-out: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

65 relevant reviews

Check-in experiences vary: some guests report smooth, friendly service and occasional early check-in, upgrades, free luggage storage, or shower access. However, recurring complaints include long queues, rooms being 1–6 hours late, unclear early check-in policies, checkout pressure, expensive extensions, and late-checkout key cards failing. Luggage-handling and communication mistakes also occurred.

This is the first time I stayed in a hotel and checked out very early, because the hotels I stayed in before all checked out at 12pm, but Amara checked out at 11am, and I felt like I had to leave as soon as I woke up.

★ 6.0

We asked for an extension for the check out, "and while checking inn we informed them" however, they gave us only half an hour even when we said we want to pay for the extended hours or for another room they said it is not available.

★ 7.0Extended Group

The hotel did not accept a Wise card for the pre‑authorisation charge at check‑in, which was disappointing, as I stayed at Swissotel Singapore during the same trip and had no issues using the same card there.

★ 7.0Family with Children

I had arrived earlier then the stipulated checkin and was thankful they were able to arrange a room relatively quickly, which included a slight upgrade from a double bed to a king and a fantastic view.

★ 4.0

After communication, we could not change room types, and there was no discount on the room rate; we were asked to continue using the original bathroom, with a staff member coming to check and clean.

★ 4.0Family with Children

It was a far distance for us to walk back to the concierge (as we were allocated the room furthest) just to get it checked when we were already so tired and wanted a rest.

★ 4.0Family

We left at noon and came back to our suite at around 10’pm and the luggages were literally left outside of our suite the entire time, with our electronics baking in the sun/ heat.

★ 4.0Family with Children

No delay in check-in and we are so lucky to be able to check-in upon reaching at 9am as I had request fr early due to some event I had to attend at 9:30am!

★ 10.0Family

Everything is great, from the staff and their good treatment and respect, to the facilities, to the speed of service at check-in and check-out. Everything is wonderful and beautiful for me and my family.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Went early to put my bags down so that I could head to the beach, Amara was very nice and said they would try to give us a room as soon as they could.

★ 8.0Partner

We requested for king bed for our second night but the staff told us we had to check out then check in at a specific time which was a complete waste of time.

★ 4.0Family

They gave us late check out on our final day as compensation (but failed to update the room cards so we got locked out and didn’t empty bins that day) complete PITA.

★ 2.0Family with Children

Appreciate the complimentary birthday cake as we celebrate hubby birthday on check in day BUT...after we took pics and ate cake 😱 realised it was addressed to wrong person (template name?) Anyway.🤣🤣😅

★ 7.0Family with Children

Didn't like the checkout experience, waiting to speak to a staff but there were many guests in the queue and was abruptly instructed to do drop key for express check out.

★ 8.0Family

Went back down to reception and Shaz was amazing helped me book a second room and moved us to their last interconnected room for the best price.

★ 10.0Friends Getaway

Gate to room locks from 7.30pm so will need to walk 1 round back to room despite needing the room card to access during unlocked hours

★ 8.0Couple

Charges for extra time for check out $55.00 a hour is a bit steep we needed our room until 7pm due to a late flight

★ 9.0Couple

Told front desk staff Putri specifically to have our luggage moved into the suite right before we went out and even clarified with her.

★ 4.0Family with Children

We were checked in by Mr Taufiq who was jovial, professional and made us feel very welcomed as a guest at the Amara Sanctuary.

★ 8.0Couples

The hotel insisted on booking an extra night for early checkin, but finally was provided early checkin when we reached the hotel.

★ 9.0Family with Children

I didn't receive any notice that I would have to pay a deposit before booking and the amount was a bit high.

★ 10.0Couple

Concierge rushed through my check in even though it was a near midnight check in and facilities were barely explained.

★ 3.0Family with Children

However, this was resolved / waived by higher management and we were also given complimentary car to the airport.

★ 9.0Family with Children

We paid for a late checkout, but we were still rushed out of the room three times.

★ 8.0Family with Children

Made us aware of a complimentary offering of having access to a room for shower facilities.

★ 10.0Family with Children

Lack of cooperation and extending my hours without availability, they asked for a large amount,

★ 8.0Couple

However, had a 2 hr wait before my room was ready from check-in time.

★ 6.0

We arrived very early and had to wait 6 hours for a room.

★ 8.0Family

Arrived 3 plus but could only check in at 4pm.

★ 6.0

TV broke up and they fixed it right away.

Transport: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

31 relevant reviews

Free shuttles to VivoCity, HarbourFront, RWS, the mainland, and Sentosa attractions are a major convenience, with some guests praising reliable service and buggy access to Palawan Beach. However, schedules can be infrequent or unreliable, luggage is often refused, stops may be inconvenient, and unclear or missing QR-code instructions have caused monorail access problems and extra costs.

What's absurd is that we saw Sofitel , Shangri-la hotel (other hotels in the same vicinity as Amara) shuttle bus services arriving and departing from the same pick-up point MULTIPLE times before Amara's came... so for sure it wasn't caused by traffic issues.

★ 4.0Couple

The bus shuttle is inconvenient because it doesn't stop at Vivo City as advertised by hotel but on the opposite side of the road, a significant distance to Vivo city especially if you have a large luggage.

★ 8.0Family with Children

One needs a QR code for the Sentosa train, which is only valid for 3 days, but we were unfortunately not informed of this and had problems with the train on the 4th day.

★ 9.0Couple

When I returned to the hotel to clarify, I was only then provided with the QR code and told that they do not usually issue them upfront due to concerns about misuse.

★ 7.0Family with Children

Around 1805 I called the reception desk again, and the staff told me he just noticed the shuttle bus was still at the hotel lobby outside and hasn't driven off yet...

★ 4.0Couple

The shuttle bus nearest to the hotel is not to far to walk from, and we have any of the 3 sentosa bus to go to which is good.

★ 8.0Family with Children

At check‑in, I was told that scanning a QR code at the station or providing my booking details would allow entry without paying the charge.

★ 7.0Family with Children

However, upon reaching the monorail station, I was informed that the hotel should have issued a specific QR code for scanning at the gates.

★ 7.0Family with Children

This added to the confusion, as it was unclear why guests are not given the necessary information or QR code from the start.

★ 7.0Family with Children

The city shuttle bus does run on a schedule, but it is very user-unfriendly: there is a long gap in the evening!

★ 8.0Couple

The hotel provides a shuttle to the subway however they do not allow luggage to be brought on (only carry-on allowed).

★ 8.0Extended Group

Called the reception desk / operations service number at 1750 however the staff was unable to confirm where the bus was.

★ 4.0Couple

Communication regarding the QR code required for the monorail service from VivoCity Shopping Centre back to Sentosa Island was unclear.

★ 7.0Family with Children

The shuttle services was perfect and provide a very convenient transport for the guest to move around Sentosa and VivoCity!

★ 4.0Family with Children

At around 1820 finally the shuttle bus arrived to the Habourfront MRT pickup point, after we waited for an hour.

★ 4.0Couple

They did have a shuttle service but it was not so frequent and we do like stretching our legs.

★ 9.0Family with Children

On checkout it was suggested we walk with luggage to monorail as no luggage allowed on transfer bus.

★ 5.0Couple

It is easy to go to the monorail, and also there is a shuttle bus to Vivo city

★ 8.0Couple

More explanation required at check in about shuttle bus for hotel and transport around Sentosa island itself.

★ 7.0Couple

A staff forgot to provide us QR code to enter Sentosa do we paid extra metro tickets.

★ 9.0Family with Children

There is no shuttle to the beach, especially back up the hill in the sweltering heat.

★ 8.0Couple

The hotel's shuttle will not let you on board with checked baggage sized luggage.

★ 7.0Solo Traveller

Separate shuttle exists, a monorail also - but no mention of it at all.

★ 7.0Couple

There is a shuttle bus which goes to Vivocity from the hotel lobby.

★ 10.0Couples

Also a shuttle to the nearest Sentosa express station would be highly appreciated

★ 8.0Family

Shuttle bus was EXTREMELY late to pick up at Habourfront MRT exit D.

★ 4.0Couple

We used it several times to venture into Vivo City Shopping Centre.

★ 10.0Family with Children

They have free pickup and drop-off service to the metro gathering point

★ 10.0Solo Traveller

Buggy service available if you are heading to Palawan beach.

★ 10.0Couples

Bus service from vivo city was fast and efficient.

Gym: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

23 relevant reviews

Gym feedback is mixed. Several guests find it well-equipped, comfortable, air-conditioned, and useful indoors and outdoors. However, recurring complaints describe an old, worn, neglected, or disappointing facility, especially the outdoor equipment, which can be hot and poorly maintained. Some guests also had difficulty locating the indoor gym or noticed a bad smell.

The gym looked like something from a crime scene with plastic blinds hanging from the ceiling and the whole area was very underwhelming.

★ 4.0Family with Children

My daughter followed the signs to the gym but only found a very basic outdoor area not like the photo.

★ 6.0Family

Also had a great indoor and outdoor gym for those who like to work out !!

Spa: What guests say

View Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

13 relevant reviews

Guests praised the outdoor jacuzzi, massages, and facial treatments, but spa availability was inconsistent: it was closed or under repair for some stays. Reported drawbacks included noisy jacuzzi jets, no nighttime lighting, dirty seating, outsourced therapists requiring 48-hour advance booking, and unclear pricing or booking information.

The spa did not have in house masseurs' and they were outsourced from elsewhere and i was told that you need to book at least 48hrs in advance when i tried to book a spa treat for my wife.

★ 3.0Family with Children

Booking into the spa also seemed problematic - we visited and the only lady there had no concrete information, up to date pricing lists etc.

★ 9.0Family with Children

Jacuzzi was nice but noisy air jets need to be readjusted very off putting when you are trying to relax...
