Guests often praised the central location, cleanliness, comfortable rooms, helpful staff, breakfast, and facilities, and many said they would return. Some found the hotel good but unremarkable or overpriced; one detailed review cited worn sofas, outdated amenities, and poorly maintained furniture. Renovations were noted, though they did not always affect the stay.

Love everything about this hotel, I have stayed here in 2015, after many years decided to revisit, it did not left me disappointed, they have maintain it so well, not run down at all.
Couldn’t have been more average - nothing wrong - but nothing right… happy to take my money but did nothing to make me feel welcome or special.
This is my second time staying at this hotel and I will choose to stay here again when I come to Singapore in the future.

An independent 5 * hotel and it showed, hands on management, service excellent & one of the best, most convenient situations in Sing.
The room and service, the view, the value, the foods contributed to make Carlton Hotel in Singapore the place to be.
Loved the stay and hotel was amazing .... if i visit singapore again i would choose this hotel again ....

We were a little disappointed that we were not advised of the renovations, not that it affected our stay.
We used to patron The Swissotel but I am certain our next visit will be with The Carlton Hotel.
Fine for 4 days, but if I’d paid full price for the room I’d have felt short changed.

The hotel has a cold and impersonal service and does not make any effort to help the customers
It’s now a bit tired and could use some renewal and update, but it’s still quite comfortable.
It is very much a business/ airline staff type hotel - check em in/ check em out.

No regrets about my stay for the location of the hotel and the quality of the meals
It is centrally located with great dining and drinking options both at the hotel and nearby.
Gorgeous hotel in a perfect location to explore Singapore and get too and from the airport

Carlton Hotel offers the best value in Singapore with its location, room size, amenities, and service.
I fully recommend The Carlton which gives a feel of luxury whilst being good value.
We liked it so much we booked again for the end of the month !

Overall a very disappointing experience, even more if I think about how much we paid!
To have a sanctuary like this in a bustling city is a great advantage.
Very comfortable stay and a nice hotel with all amenities ........good value for money

The entrance area is huge and the rooms in the Premiere Wing are spacious.
The hotel is great, good location fantastic room, but too busy for me.
What was difficult for me was the mattress; was it a Tempur mattress?

Luxury feeling as soon as you enter reception, staff were all super helpful
The hotel is rated 5 stars on booking.com, but is only a 4-star, the hotel receptionist confirmed - and it is noticeable that it isn’t a 5-star - seems the hotel isn’t too new, some things seemed to need updating - the hotel didn’t feel very clean, had some marks on the walls and toilet seat was dirty when we got to the room - not great value for money
Very nice hotel (from the inside), spacious and simple, beautiful rooms, great bed, practical bathroom with shower, nice pool area with a sufficiently large pool for swimming, great gym, wonderful central location with excellent breakfast options in the immediate vicinity ...

I made reservations for my stay three times, and although the price differences were inevitable, the aspects such as price, room location, and size varied, so I wished they would have made some adjustments based on my previous stay data.
It was certainly a business-focused hotel, there were a lot of cabin crew and pilots staying here, and what appeared to be conference center users, so you can tell who the primary audience is, and it shows.
Another thing I didn't like was that in the booking conditions on Booking.com, it stated that the hotel would provide a smartphone free of charge for the use of its guests during their stay in Singapore.

Location: What guests say

The hotel is repeatedly praised for its central, convenient location: Raffles City and Raffles Hotel are nearby, with MRT stations, shops, restaurants, and many attractions within walking distance. Some guests found certain bus stops or destinations a longer walk away, and one noted that the entrance can be difficult to spot from North Bridge Road.

This hotel didn’t return my payment when Covid-19 came but gave me a credit that they done there best no to give me then tell me it’s a massive increase in price and doesn’t include breakfast anymore.
The Carlton hotel is located opposite Raffles Hotel and on another corner there is an excellent shopping centre with many restaurants and food outlets which provided food and meals at varying price levels.
Walking distance to a few cafes/eateries around the area and just across the road from the Raffles City Mall, as well as mrt and bus stops close by for convenient transport.

It's a perfect base for sightseeing and the F1 GP - I was able to walk to an entrance gate and others were just a short MRT ride away.
Super great location, close to everything (Chinatown, Orchid Rd, shopping, eating, MRT, and buses), especially to the Big Tour Bus stop (Hop-On Hop-Off Tour), which was really awesome.
It's right across from Chimes and there's the Raffles shopping mall just across the street, so I didn't need to go far for meals and shopping.

However there is a nearby 'Heritage of Flavours' hawkers market about 150m from the hotel which we really enjoyed for a lot of our meals.
The location is superb, just across raffles shopping mall, few blocks from Bugis, and you 30 mins by foot (15mins travel) to Marina bay.
It is also just a few minutes' walk to the MRT, and very close to nearby tourist attractions, department stores, and local snack centers.

The hotel faces a street that has quite a bit of traffic, and from the 12th floor, you could still hear the cars.
Location is fab if you love to go shopping, there is Bugis market, Raffle City and Suntec that is only 5 min away!
The location is just perfect, there is a MRT nearby, a shopping center where you can find food, restaurants, clothing stores, etc.

The hotel was in a great central location, close to malls and tourist attractions like Chijmes, Bugis Street, Raffles and Haji lane.
The location is ideal, close to all the important places, which allows you to do everything on foot without any hassle.
It was very convenient to be right in front of the City Hall subway station, making it easy to get out.

Perfect location!! We were able to walk to almost all the important places in Singapore, and that's a significant advantage!
Great location, within 6min walk to 4 MRT stations, North South line, East West line, Circle line & Downtown line.
We loved the proximity to all the attractions we wanted to see and the public transport to those further away

Walking distance to City Hall MRT and other nearby train stations, making it super easy to get around Singapore.
The Carlton Singapore Hotel is located in a very central area and you can quickly reach an SMRT station.
The hotel is very well located, 2 subway stations 200 meters in the heart of the city and attractions

Good location in a beautiful hotel, but it's better to avoid the first wing, which needs major renovation.
Excellent location across the street from Raffles and Raffle's City Mall (which includes the City Hall MRT metro.).
I like a bar where I can sit down and have a drink and recap on my day.

The hotel was convenient for our sightseeing trips and there were a variety of restaurants in the vicinity.
The location is within a 5-minute walk from City Hall Station, with Ruffles City shopping and dining across the street, and Praise Square right opposite; you won't have to worry about transportation if you want to enjoy a drink and experience a live house at night.
The location of the hotel is really fantastic, right next to Raffles and the Esplanade. Most of the famous attractions are within walking distance, and there are many delicious places nearby. After a long day of play, we can easily return to the hotel to rest.

The hotel is literally across the road from both the Raffles Hotel and the Raffles City shopping center with its access to the City Hall MRT station which is an interchange on the North-South Line (NSL) and East-West Line (EWL).
We like the location, being across the road from Raffles City shopping centre which has everything from a supermarket, a food court and shops, to an MRT station being handy for access to the airport and elsewhere in Singapore.
Location was reasonable for getting around to see the city although the quay / marina area was around 20 mins walk in one direction and the main shopping area about 30 mins walk in the opposite direction.

Rooms: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore1,815 relevant reviews
Rooms are often described as spacious, clean, comfortable, and well equipped, with standout views and comfortable beds. Recurring drawbacks include dated or worn interiors, maintenance faults, noisy air conditioning and poor sound insulation. Some guests also noted awkward bathroom layouts, dim lighting, and occasional unpleasant odors.

When the air conditioner is running, the fan makes a loud squeaky noise as if it is rubbing, and although I requested an inspection, it was not fixed. I was told to change rooms, but after a long wait and repeatedly urging the front desk, they finally responded without any apology and moved me to a lower-floor room.
The hotel rooms cannot be ventilated by opening windows, especially the bathroom is extremely humid, and it is difficult for the air conditioning system to dehumidify, let alone provide fresh air. This is the hotel's biggest drawback, especially notable in Singapore's humid and hot climate.
Although the place was divided into two rooms, the cleaning and replacement of amenities varied between the rooms (I made sure to tidy up my personal belongings each time and requested cleanup, but the bed making was done poorly).

I also requested a baby cot for my 1.5-year-old son, but I noticed that a plastic part at the top of the cot is rough and could potentially hurt him if he tries to climb out.
We explained how many times we have stayed here and the room was not acceptable when another of the staff went out the back then came back and then gave us a nicer room.
Previous stays have been good, but this time we were given a room in an area that was undergoing (very) noisy renovations - we could not hear each other speak at times.

We were given a room upgrade on arrival, the studio room was spacious with a beautiful stand alone bath with great views, we only wished we had the time to use it.
The hallway also has large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow you to see all the nearby alleys, and it has thoughtful addition of chaise lounges, suitable for resting or taking photos.
On our return, we were given a room on the 17th floor it was much cooler at around 18C but controlling the temperature to go higher was a problem.

The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet, but the sink and changing area without a door are very inconvenient, and there are no hooks in the shower.
The only downside is that the bathroom is relatively "open" and not separated from the room, but you already know this from the photos of the hotel room.
Unfortunately, the air conditioning could not be set warmer - it was constantly 19 - 20 degrees in the room, adjustments on the thermostat did not help

The room was clean and well maintained, good enough TV channels and we had a lovely view of the Cathedral which my Mom was happy 😊.
The hallway to the room had a very moist smell and the room could have been a bit better maintained, the shower was quiet old.
We eventually had to turn it off and despite us mentioning several times there was no change in the whole three nights of our stay.

Expecting only a King room with no bath, we were pleasantly surprised to be given a King room on a high floor with a bath.
It was the best memory to see Marina Bay through a glass wall while soaking in the bathtub, even if only two-thirds of it.
Some toiletries and beverages were not replenished at daily basis hence need to call and request for it at the last moment of needs.

However, the bathroom has no door, so when taking a shower, going to the toilet, or watching TV, you can have a chat. Haha!
Unfortunately, neither Booking.com nor the hotel information indicated that renovation work was taking place directly in the tower where our room was located.
Room with shower and tub very large... you could sit at the window on, for example, the 18th floor and enjoy a coffee

The room was cleaned very quickly; I just went out for breakfast and it was already tidied up by the time I returned.
The room was old (the renovations take place now, so the noise is possible), and the toilet stopped working the second day.
The staff member suggested that, for our comfort, they would be happy to put an extra tween size bed for our son.

Was delighted to be given room according to our preference by a young pretty helpful Indian lady receptionist by initial "D" name
Upon going upstairs, we were shocked to find we were given a room that was completely different from the one in the photos. The configuration turned into a very large bathroom and a very small room—there was a double bed with a wide walkway beside the nightstands, and the distance from the foot of the bed to the desk was only 100 centimeters wide!!!!
The rooms are basic, half of the bathroom floor actually sloped away from the drain hole, so after a shower, you'd have an inch of water laying on the floor all day unless you kicked it toward the drain, the mirror was not heated, so would often be steamed over, and this was after we had paid extra to upgrade to a 'premier' room.

Despite its many attributes, the rooms are not of a high standard in terms of decor and the extra touches you’d expect of a 5 star hotel are non-existent- e.g. the toiletries provided are not particularly nice and are in dispensers, screwed to the walls; The orchid and fern displays in the public areas are fake (in Singapore!).
A rough estimate of the total area of the room clearly showed it was smaller than the room type I booked, and with a completely different arrangement, I cannot accept paying more money to end up with such an arrangement, especially after confirming multiple times? (Arriving at 4:30 PM is not exactly a peak time for room shortages.)
Our room was spacious and well appointed; there was a selection of toiletries provided, but our only disappointment was that there were no bars of soap - so there was nothing available should we wish to take a bath - the basin and shower had pump-action containers beside their units, but nothing within reach of the bath!

Staff: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore1,412 relevant reviews
Staff were most often described as friendly, courteous, and helpful, with requests handled promptly and some going above and beyond—for example, preparing takeaway breakfast for an early flight and assisting a guest locked out at 1 a.m. Experiences were inconsistent: some guests reported impersonal service, slow responses, and inflexible reception staff.

By mistake, when I went out, I accidentally touched the switch incorrectly, so when I got home, I was surprised and told the front desk about it, and they replaced the room cleaning and towels during meal time, so there were no inconveniences.
We trying calling the reception 2 times to ask for the food menu but was told there a scan code near tv area but we couldn’t find any at all that y make the second calls again.
But one of my colleague - Mr. Tran Hoai Phuong couldnt find hot water for the shower, which he called the reception but at the end he still couldnt have any hot water at all.

Special thanks to Shaun Sim on reception who was brilliant in dealing with our check in and organising a room change after our first night and Amir, who assisted with our check out.
And quick thanks also to the gentleman who dressed up as Santa Claus and came back to give my mum a little gift when he knew she was celebrating her birthday.
Had too speak to Ben but still have had no satisfaction ref the small car that was sent to pick me up from airport when I requested a large car

I have notified one of the reception employees, he helped me contact the last bar I went to at the marina bay sands to check if they found anything.
We did have to complain once as there was a lot of shouting at almost midnight and reception sent security who DID resolve the issue with no fuss.
I think the hotel needs to provide strong re-education for staff who offer such service to people, including Koreans, who are not familiar with English like me.

The staff have an attitude, even though I am very respectful to them, but this attitude is common in many places in Singapore, it's their nature.
Great staff, special thanks to Azam, who helped us with with an early check in (after a long flight and an early departure in Singapore).
Staff at breakfast time was rude. We asked for toddler cutlery. It took awhile to come, so we asked another staff to get it.

The staff in front desk is not friendly, it seems they're pretty tired so not willing to do the check in stuff for me
Services were really up to standard and they do go beyond the mile to help me with my needs during this business trip!
He was the only employee who helped with our luggage, and asked if we needed a taxi before helping us load the luggage.

Our room cleaner -RA:ALLY, always seemed able to clean our room before we got back after breakfast, she gets my top marks.
We had to ask a member of staff at the reception for adjustment so that the rooms were next to each other.
First of all, mom was on a push chair and she was kindly seen to her needs of a comfortable seating.

Bellmen Rahim was amazing he briefed us on what to do at the area, where to eat and place of interest.
A huge shout out too the taxi man, room cleaner, bag man and the waiter in the evening in the restaurant.
The staff are very polite, courteous, friendly and helpful, in particular Shan who made us feel particularly welcome at breakfast.

The level of service provided by the hotel staff in the lobby is less than what it used to be.
They did not arrange a baby bed for us on the first night and were arrogant in resolving the problems.
Dwayne Su at the bar was a not only a fantastic bartender & manager but a really great person.

Room cleaning was done even though we left the room in the late afternoon and didn’t requested for it.
On our final day, we checked out at 10am and told the receptionist that we had a plane at 2am the following morning - she told us that we could leave our luggage and collect it at any time, and also told us that we were welcome to use the shower room that evening before leaving for the airport - they of course would arrange a taxi from the hotel!
The service was horrible; it’s better not to need anything from the hotel staff; for example, my luggage arrived late and I notified them that it would arrive late, and they wake me up by phone saying my luggage has arrived, saying to come down for it; just like that, telling me to get out of bed and come down for my suitcase.

The staff's approach to guests was disappointing; we requested connecting rooms because we are traveling with two children aged 11 and 10, but unfortunately, no one seemed to care much about that. They told us to come back the next morning to see if something became available, but we decided not to bother as we felt it was a waste of time.
Also, the nice thing that happened to me is that I lost an important item during my stay, and when I was leaving, I left my email with them so they could contact me if they found it. They really did find it and sent it to me while I was in Kuala Lumpur.
I would have thought that they would have seen I was tired and offered me a drink, told me about the facilities of the hotel, seen if I wanted anything to eat (so pay to eat breakfast) and just explain where we are located in the city and how you can get about.

Breakfast: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore706 relevant reviews
Breakfast is often praised as delicious, abundant, and varied, with buffet choices spanning local and Western dishes and eggs cooked to order. However, many guests consider it expensive; others report repetitive or limited selections, crowded and poorly coordinated service, and gaps in vegetarian or dietary-friendly options. Coffee quality also drew criticism.

Breakfast was good, a bit busy and staff were friendly to accommodate special needs such as soya milk, muesli on request, although they should be in the menu nonetheless as option for gluten intolerant people.
Every breakfast we would have to ask staff however if was always so busy they would either forget about us or come 10 minutes later, when we've gotten new food items.
Having to go from the premiere wing to the other wing for breakfast as when we booked we were told breakfast was served in the premier wing

The breakfast assortment needs improvement, especially in the sweet section given the international clientele, and it should also be varied at least every 2/3 days.
Same food for breakfast over a week. With that price and reputation of the hotel, there should be different breakfast buffets on different days
A bit too much air conditioning in the breakfast restaurant - had to wear a sweater in the morning to avoid freezing.

The price of breakfast was not in proportion to the quality. 42 Singapore Dollars is more than it was worth
The choices for the included buffet breakfast and the evening refreshments in the Premier Club Lounge were very good.
My only suggestion would be to improve the selection at breakfast as I felt there wasn't much choice.

The breakfast buffet proposed a lot of choices for westerner and oriental tastes with lots of fresh fruits
So if you are staying longer than 3 days, you will be bored out of your mind.
The breakfast was excellent, with a huge range of options to suit a wide range of tastes.

Hotel breakfast buffet was a very cramp experience, restaurant organized like a middlescool cantina, very cramp.
There were no other fruit other than some canned rambutans in syrup which I did consumed.
Breakfast is okay but not special as there are not much variety for meat dishes.

The breakfast was abundant, and I was impressed that they had naturally fermented bread prepared.
Breakfast was small room size compared to the hotel, therefore creating an overcrowded breakfast experience
Breakfast is quite expensive! Especially the continental breakfast in the room is a joke.

The breakfast room was good for breakfast, but rather unsuitable for a cozy dinner.
Breakfast rather expensive but plenty restaurants nearby serving fine breakfast options at lower prices.
With the thought that if breakfast is not good, we would eat outside.

Excellent breakfast, good range but could get sick of it if staying longer
We didn't like the constant renewing of tableware during breakfast, by the staff.
The buffet breakfast was well done with a wide selection of dishes.

Breakfast - I liked it, tasty coffee, everything you need is there)
Would have been nice to have free breakfast include in the price but to be honest it wasn't something that bothered me as I wanted to try traditional breakfast at places like local cafes or hawker centres so it actually worked out pretty well.
I was fasting for Ramadan and would not have been able to take advantage of the included breakfast so the hotel had a special arrangement to provide free room service for suhoor each day from a select halal menu.

Only had breakfast buffet once, slightly expensive compared to the local food but the selection of food was good and was delicious and I was so full did not need to eat for the rest of the day.
We usually went 30 minutes before the closing time - many of the food stations were left empty and the staff constantly reminded you of the time - their main focus was to wrap up on time.
Breakfast was nothing special either, again, coming to the point of business users that just want something quick and easy to get them through the morning to lunch, it just felt basic and pretty poor.

Facilities: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore559 relevant reviews
Guests repeatedly described the hotel and its facilities as clean and well maintained, with a well-equipped gym and attractive pool. However, the lounge was closed for refurbishment during some stays, with loud daytime construction and no compensation reported. The lobby was often crowded, with limited seating and luggage piled near reception; some guests also noted minor maintenance issues.

The maid came at 11 on day 3 to make up the room but we asked her if she could come back in 30 mins as we were going out, she turned up about 3.30 and asked if we still wanted it made up.
The water was really hot and even though i already turned all the way to cold water and the low water pressure at the basin. You need to spent x3 times to wash hand.
USB charging is non existent and there are No plugs for devices (e.g. Hairdryer) in the bathroom and you cannot charge you phone on the side of the bed.

Very expensive cafe in the foyer and no bar in the hotel which was strange and somewhat annoying though there ate bars right across the road.
Additionally, the hotel accommodates flight attendants and tour groups, which can make the lobby quite noisy, and there is no place to rest.
I paid a very small amount to upgrade before arrival and had the benefit of the Premium lounge for snacks and drinks.

The Tux bar was also lovely, and even the lobby was a great spot for sitting and watching life's passing parade.
The facilities were top-notch: the pool area was beautiful and relaxing, and the gym was huge and extremely well equipped.
The access to level 4 changerooms to freshen up after the arrival and after checking out, prior to departure.

More sockets in reception area for those who have arrived or are leaving to/from international flights to charge devices.
The shower needs to be tightened with screws and the high shower only works through the handheld shower.
The premium club was in a dark room, set up like a cafe and with minimal food selection.

Facilities are incredible ! the gym is super equipped and the pool area is very nice .
There is no bidet in the bathroom and no ventilation, which causes humidity in the room.
Nowhere to get a drink, had to go to bars and restaurants outside of the hotel.

The outdoor seating area of TUX could use better decoration for a more enticing environment.
Loungers and chairs are everywhere and some of the loungers are looking a bit old.
The hotel is well-kept and clean with all services at a very good level.

No jacuzzi for the number of stars, the price is high with fewer services.
We had no toilet paper on day 1. No tea bags the second day.
Price was decent for Singapore but facilities were not consistent with the stars.

Garden and maintenance work in the pool area is done during open hours.
Want a glass to pour your wine into? Nope, they were gone.
The facilities in the wing where we were placed were fairly new.

Fantastic location and facilities for a quick stop off in Singapore
The hotel maintenance is not up to the standards not even 4 star! eg. very strong SMOKING SMELL not only one room, after swapped to the other room, it has the smoking smell too! that’s 2 rooms in a row! water tap is broken, bathroom door is broken, dirty stain on the quilt!
Can be quite hectic in the lobby, and facilities for freshening up if you get there early are not ideal (we were directed to Level 4, where there were no staff to be seen, and no where to sit/rest noting we were also with a baby).

Some of the facilieis have not been fully re-opend since the Covid pandemic, namely the bar on the 1st floor and the bar/snack facility poolside, which meant if you wanted a drink outside of resturant opening hours you had to leave the hotel
Additionally, the glass connecting the cabinet on the right side of the sink to the bathroom is not completely sealed, so when taking a shower, water will accumulate in the cabinet, and items like soap or other belongings will also get wet.
The Premium Club Lounge could do with a revamp, sparkling wine would also have been a welcomed addition which is what I have been able to drink at other hotel Lounges where we have stayed and paid the privilege for.

Check-in / Check-out: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore381 relevant reviews
Check-in and check-out were often described as smooth, quick, and helpful, with early check-in sometimes arranged when rooms were ready. Experiences were inconsistent: some guests waited hours or were refused early access, and others found booked room types unavailable. Post-checkout showers and changing facilities were a recurring plus, especially for late flights.

He was puzzled about the 2nd charge and asked to see my SMS showing this - it appeared he wanted to charge my card again! Only once I showed him the 2nd charge did he explain that the final bill would be deducted from this.
Credit card had been charged since the day we checked in, but the receptionist insisted we didn't and still charging at the day we checked out without any explanation of credit card charging policy, with really impatient attitude.
Front desk staff can not find our booking, (only want see our passports, do not want take our booking reference, after 25min, tell me he find my name is Julia, and only booked 2 nights.

The staff was extremely strict and would not allow us to check in any earlier than 3 o'clock even though it was not busy and they could have if they wanted to.
But when I went back to the room 5 hours later and tried again, it didn't work, so I had to request the room key registration twice in the end.
It took 3 requests, in person, with the Reservation Desk to discover that we COULD actually reserve and pay $178 for a Late Checkout from our room.

We want to extend for another Day...but we were to checkout...and if we want to stay have to rebook and get it another few days.
Only door entrance to our room malfunctioned (red light flashing) and we needed to go down to the lobby to reset our keycard (4x).
We requested an early check in as our flight from the UK arrived early morning/ however this wa not immediately available to us.

We arrived pretty early for check in and staff gave us keys to get freshened up before the rooms were ready.
Can have room extension on day of leave. half day rate up to 6pm, full day rate if later than 6pm.
Told him many times we can just need a room to shower because we have to leave for dinner soon.

They mentioned that because I booked on booking.com directly, cannot guarantee what I booked is available which was disappointing.
I have requested a baby sanitiser when i made the booking but i didn't come up with my check-in.
I would have liked to express my dissatisfaction about the service and the room directly on-site during check-out.

Except for check in and check out - we didn’t talk to anyone during our 4 night stay.
But on our second night back to the room the switches were secretly fixed which was great.
Need to let guest check in early when rooms are available and not behave so dogmatically.

Senior management need to concentrate on the operation of the whole hotel starting point check in
Price inclusion shown in the web not the same with the actual includion when checked in.
Checkin easy but room assigned smelled a little smoky so we asked to be reassigned.

Checking in took 25 minutes, and there was only one person in front of me.
However, the fact is i have booked, got confirmation, and paid for the premier room.
While checking in, the reception could not find my request for twin bed room.

When we checking in we were told that we had been upgraded for free.
Also we arrived from our flight at 6.30am, the hotel offered to hold our luggage for us and aim to have us checked in an in our room early (10/11am) but in the mean time gave us access to shower facilities to freshen up, so we could explore the city in the morning.
First of all, I requested twin beds when making the reservation and actually paid for it and sent an email, but when I checked in (at 5 PM), they said they only had a double room, so I ended up paying an extra charge of $80 per night (excluding tax) for 3 nights.

We cannot extended our stay if we want the same room it is so difficult not like the budget hotel just make a call..to the manager..and the management will arrange the room to set up for the new guest to the any of available room.
After completing the process, another guest checked in, and I saw that the receptionist next to me could directly hand out room keys. So I then waited in line to ask why they didn't give it to me too, since everything was ready for him.
I'd also like to mention that the check-in and check-out process took longer than expected due to a limited number of open desks, which seemed insufficient for the number of guests waiting, especially when there was a group from Emirates that received immediate priority.

Pool: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore340 relevant reviews
Guests often praised the pool as clean, relaxing, and a welcome way to cool off in Singapore’s heat. Common drawbacks were early closing hours (often 7–8pm), limited size and occasional crowding, and cold water or afternoon shade; some also noted too few sun loungers.

Kids shallow pool was filthy could see all sorts of small mould floating in it advised staff who said technician will clean it but did not see any closed signs go up and neither did anyone clean it other children continued to go into it which is disgusting
The pool didn’t have enough sunbeds - I guess you don’t really go to Singapore to hang out by the pool, but we had one afternoon where we just wanted to cool down and chill by the pool for an hour or so, but couldn’t get a sunbed.
The swimming pool area is basic. For example, the pool bar was closed though refreshment could be ordered on-line and delivered. The surrounding building overlooking the pool were concrete tower blocks and not especially nice. The pool itself was quite small.

We were only disappointed that the pool closed at 7pm preventing us from relaxing by the pool after dinner or after a long day out and about.
No bar, no bar open around the pool - which was a shame because it’d be nice to relax/ have a beer / coffee there.
It gets so hot in Singapore it would be nice to have a lovely pool area to relax and unwind in.

Pool closes at 7pm which is disappointing as you want to come swim after a long day in the heat.
The pool area is a little small but it wasn't overcrowded any of the days that we were there.
The pool side bar was closed and as such food and refreshments were unavailable whilst enjoying the pool.

I liked the swimming pool but the water in the kids pool was a little cold
Should have service at pool no one around to ask if u Need something .
Pool is small for the size of the hotel and it was filled with kids.

Swimming pool and facilities such as showers that could still be used after check-out.
I believe the hotel must have a life guard / assist just in case.
The pool was small, and compared to Raffles, I didn't feel like swimming.

The pool is very!!! uninviting and there are too few sun loungers.
The hotel's swimming pool was useful in the hot and humid weather.
The only thing is the pool area gets very little sun.

We never did get to have a swim in the pool!
The pool area is incredibly out of touch and dated.
The swimming pool was a bit old, but still good.

Not a lot for children apart from a pool.
Lovely pool area in the middle of the city.
Theres also no atmosphere at the pool at all.

It’s a 2m depth and whilst there are warnings.
Excellent service at the pool bar by Yuia.
The poolside bar was closed during our stay.

Availability of a pool and free passage.
Great location, gym, pool and fantastic foyer
No service or facilities at the pool.

Restaurant: What guests say

Café Mosaic’s buffet is often praised for tasty food, good value, variety, and attentive service, though some dishes are inconsistent and a few guests found the selection limited. Wah Lok receives strong praise for Cantonese cuisine and special-occasion meals. Tux Bar is cozy with friendly service but small, while some diners find hotel dining expensive or lacking dietary options.

We would compliment the restaurant’s usual great hospitality and most of all, the beautiful & vigorous loin dance which very much invigorates us and brings back a happy memorable experience for us all!
A fly got in and though I understand it happens, wish the staff was more proactive to catch it or do something to protect the food immediately.
Mosaic restaurant both my hubby n I went fir the Hong Kong buffet lunch promo on 16 March 2026 as it was our wedding anniversary.

Much better to eat out (there's a dozen bistro restaurants within 2 blocks, and the aforementioned riverside restaurants for good-choice and reasonably priced lunch/dinner.
Also ordered room service and was bitterly disappointed by the quality of food we received (soggy bun, no seasoning- microwaved food taste).
Having their dinner buffet, very high quality of food (specially their oyster and steak) and great service by friendly staffs.

As the restaurant manager, he's probably got a solid grasp on the menu and can recommend some hidden gems.
Excellent food, polished service and a welcoming atmosphere make it a fantastic choice for celebrations and special gatherings.
Had a brilliant evening at Tux Bar, where Kesh and the team made the experience truly memorable.

I am a vegetarian, so finding the mushroom bread at Tuxedo Cafe & Patisserie was a blessing!
Most of us like the pancakes, but the fruits and desserts section a bit too little.
The dishes were also well prepared and palatable — our guests thoroughly enjoyed the food.

We loved the Cafe in the main foyer, the coffee and pastries were very nice!
I would give a 5 to the restaurant and the people who serve there.
The breakfast is good but they are better bfast in the same category hotel.

We had a wonderful dining experience at the Carlton Hotel restaurant in Singapore.
So I went to the Glass House opposite to the hotel in CHIJMES.
Love how you can watch the dessert chefs making these amazing desserts.

I expect better a restaurant with better quality regarding dishes and wines.
The Alaskan King Crab prepared two ways 🦀 was a standout.
We have a wonderful and enjoyable buffet dinner at Cafe Mosiac.

We ate dinner in the ground floor cafe / restaurant.
My wife had the steak sandwich and she enjoyed it.
The restaurant food is grossly over-priced and very poor quality.

Some of the highlight we would like to share.
Dinner at the wah loc we booked for 8.30 this is an excellent restaurant unfortunately for us last order is 9 pm we got there on time but the staff although very nice rushed our night and were clearing and cleaning around us and setting up for the next day, hence not a good dining experience our bill was just under 300 sgd.
This is my 4th year celebrating Xmas at Cafe Mosaic and I keep coming back because of the reasonable price, the location, the good variety and quality of the food, the pleasant service of the staff and I also appreciate that the tables are well arranged and spread out so it's very comfortable dining there.

Other than that, the standard and variety of food was as good as previous years and we enjoyed the food though it would have been great if laksa was also served (on Xmas Eve) besides the prawn noodle 😁
Restaurant was unsure about the needs for the one person who was gluten free (celiac), and it was uncomfortable trying to explain after we mentioned it beforehand, but the food and service was excellent so I can’t complain.
Tip: I didn't tell the waiter when to bring the cake so I received it at an unideal time, so make sure you remember to communicate your preferred time to the service crew when you enter.

Gym: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore131 relevant reviews
Guests repeatedly praise the gym as unusually well-equipped for a hotel, with quality machines, free weights and even a squat rack; many describe it as clean and well maintained. Mark is often singled out for knowledgeable, friendly help. It can get crowded, and guests report confusing access and limited hours, with some saying it is not open 24 hours.

Even though gym timing is from 7am till 7pm it was accessible 24hrs and for the first visit it will be confusing as the direct way from hotel floor to gym will be closed with no clear guideline on where the alternate lift is.
And the best: the gym... Mark and the team really put in lots of effort for a perfect fitness experience - one of the best hotel gyms i have ever seen.
There’s a powerlifting platform, squat rack, a wide selection of kettlebells and dumbbells (up to 50 kg!), and even a tire for functional training.

The Gym could be improved, the cleaning of the equipment such as treadmills (especially the bottom of them around conveyor belt) could be better.
The gym isn't 24 hours which is quite inconvenient since it's only open during the day when we were out doing things.
Mark from the gym was also professional and super friendly and caring, had a super workout in the well equipped gym.

In order to access gym you need to go on another side of the building and ask permission to reception;
My dad even had a great time at the gym, which he said was well equipped for a good workout.
Also in the gym they changed the equipment and added a leg extension and removed the leg curl that existed.

The gym is well equipped but quickly gets crowded after 4 or 5 people in the weightlifting area.
He was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable, offering training tips and ensuring every guest had a great workout experience.
Also, a really well-equipped gym (even a sauna - the question is whether one needs that in SGP😄)

A spectacular hotel gym. For all gym lovers this is the reason to book this hotel.
There is a Pool and a gym on the 5 floor with a nice view.
Gym is also not 24h, which is a little outdated this day and age.

The pool area and the gym were particularly relaxing and very well maintained.
The gym has all equipments you need and the vibes are amazing
It has the best gym I've ever had at a hotel.

24h gym but lights at the level was pitch dark.
The fitness center is not so clean as i expected.
Very functional gym for light or hardcore workout.

Great hotel with an even better gym!
Great location, gym, pool and fantastic foyer
Which was well maintained and clean.

The gym was very well equipped.
Gym is very functional and new.
The timing of the gym.

The gym is well equipped.
Mark is the best.
The gym was impressive.

Transport: What guests say
View Carlton Hotel Singapore46 relevant reviews
Guests repeatedly found transport convenient, with MRT stations and bus stops nearby and taxis easy to get at the hotel. Some noted a narrow, unpaved approach that made handling luggage difficult. Taxi service was occasionally inconsistent: one airport taxi took about 40 minutes to arrive, and some guests reported unexpectedly expensive rides.

I had booked an airport transfer for my mum and she said the driver was absolutely amazing, making sure to point out some sites for her and just polite and friendly.
This property messaged me saying that they will pick my parents up from the airport however if passengers take too long to come out then additional rate is taken for waiting.
We were given the impression it wouldn't take long, but in the end we waited for approx. 40 minutes and it was a real rush at the airport.

You can ask them in advance to open the door and also come in the morning to take you downstairs and again in the afternoon to open up
Doorman was always on hand to get us a taxi when we needed one so there was absolutely no stress in getting around at any time.
After a journey of 29 hours due to a 4-hour delay with the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, only arriving at the hotel around midnight.

They want the credit card to hold the deposit even i offered my debit card but they are insisted want my credit card.
We were assigned an unofficial taxi by the valet that was 3 times more expensive than the official taxi our friends got.
Poor communication: monorail doesn’t work at 3:30. poor signage to Terminal 1. I should have taxied at that time of morning.

One drawback I found during walk in and walk out was the walkway to the hotel, which is quite small.
We had to be careful of cars driving pass by and there is no pave way for my luggage.
For Sabbath observers, a synagogue and options for Sabbath meals (paid online) within a 5-minute walk from the hotel

Was a bit disappointed with the concierge service when we had to call a taxi to the airport.
Hotel is close to underground rail network which is an excellent way to get around the city.
If you don't use Grab app for rides then you can grab taxi easy here too

Occasionally we would get a premium taxi, which cost a lot more for a short journey.
Airport transport drivers - it’s their responsibly to check flight travel timings and navigate their journey.
Not close enough to public transport - but to be fair probably my own laziness.

The hotel is located close to two train stations which made travel a breeze.
I like that the bus stop is close, so I mainly use the bus.
I have to lift my heavy luggage when I walked into the hotel.

$32.40 We only paid $17 from airport to the hotel the day before.
Easy to catch a taxi from the taxi stand at the hotel
We had a problem with the luggage that arrived the following day

Only 1 station away by MRT or 5 minutes by taxi.
The hotel is very close to public transport and facilities.
There also was no airport shuttle service available or offered.

Direct train to/from airport with in a 400m walk.
Property is walking distance to public transportation.
Taxis were readily available at the hotel.

I also found very difficult to communicate with most of the SPA (especially in the SPA) as their English was very limited.
The SPA rooms were extremely cold and I struggled to relax during the facial treatment I had on my first day.
To enter the gym or the spa you need to leave the building

The staff in the spa area is very professional and also recommendable.
At the reception I asked for the Spa facilities and costs.
However, they didnt know and couldnt provide me with additional information.

Refresh myself in a salad shower room before my return flight.
Didn’t get time to use the spa
They just refered to the website.

Beautiful property, pool, spa and gym.
The spa services were very expensive.
There was no sauna to relax

Spa to recover from the day
No spa pool

I appreciate that motorcycles have free parking especially knowing that motorcycle parking is extremely difficult in the CBD area.
The hotel offers free parking.
Complimentary parking
