Reviews repeatedly praise the welcoming, professional staff, spacious and clean rooms, excellent breakfast, and standout pool and rooftop views; many guests say they would return. The elegant hotel is slightly off the beaten track. Some question its price or report declining upkeep, and elite-member benefits may be less flexible for Gold members; one guest reported an undisclosed booking cancellation after overbooking.

Everything was really great, but if I am to nit-pick, then the food (specifically prawn & crab) ordered in room service could be prepared and taste better.
More generally, the hotel did not have a 5 star feel and was very noisy when we arrived with multiple functions going on.
There is really nothing to complain about in this hotel, it was the best stay for us during the whole trip.

A wonderful choice for a hotel in the heart of Bangkok; I am extremely impressed by everything it offers.
I’ve been to Bangkok 10 times and stayed in 5-star hotels, and this was by far the worst.
Clean establishment, very pleasant pool, all comforts, attentive staff, and a varied and very complete breakfast buffet!

The reception was very nice and all the staff were also very helpful and very nice.
We had a great experience and enjoyed all the amenities offered by the hotel.
Although, Mr. Bank was an excellent host from the start who was very welcoming.

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at the Bangkok Marriott Surawongse!
One of the better hotels I have had the pleasure of staying at.
The hotel located in quiet area which is very convenient for families.

The hotel, the staff and the breakfast are next level- 7 star!!
The hotel is good, although a bit tired from the renovation.
An absolute scam of tourists is happening here in this hotel.

I can’t say enough great things about this Marriott property!!
A bit expensive for Thailand but the services are top-notch.
Wonderful hotel from which to experience the best of Bangkok

I regularly stay at the Marriot Surawongse for Business
Smelt really nice as you walk into the lobby.
It's truly our home away from home in Bangkok.

The hotel building is beautiful and layout is excellent.
The hotel is very luxurious with beautiful furnishings.
The hotel is a 12 out of 10.

A stay in Thailand never to be forgot.
A very pleasant one-week stay: the breakfast buffet is exceptional, the pool and its view from the 18th floor over the city and its buildings: it's very beautiful during the day and exceptional at night, the rooftop bar, the location, the restaurants, room service, the laundry, it’s simple: everything is perfect.
I stay 4 weeks more in Thailand and wanted to stay for 5 nights on the way back in Marriot again but in the way of this people work and treat the guests I will decide for another hotel.

On returning back to the UK we found out after talking to Booking.com and following the trail it was the hotel that had cancelled our booking without telling us as they had over booked the rooms out..!
I had before of the booking the option to book a normal room but i decide to to choose a room for almost double price because of the view and the comfort of noise cancelation.
I did not appreciate that at the end of my reservation I was asked to check out and leave the hotel; I would have liked to spend my whole life in this hotel :)

Staff: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse415 relevant reviews
Guests repeatedly praise the staff as friendly, attentive, professional, and quick to help across check-in, the lounge, restaurants, concierge, and luggage service. Several reviewers name team members for thoughtful, personalized care, including help with children and transportation. One loyalty-related request for lounge access was met with paid upgrade options, which felt transactional and disappointing.

The staffs were fantastic, courteous and anticipated all of our needs (helping us get tickets for boxing and cabaret ticket, checking in and out quickly with smiles and resolving our questions efficiently, great porters helping us with luggage’s and getting change without us ever asking).
The team at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse truly knows how to deliver world-class hospitality, and it was made even more memorable thanks to three extraordinary individuals: Kyo, Ball, and Latif.
The staff in the front desk, the lady who works the elevator, the people who clean my room to Surassada Makasup… you and your staff are amazing.

But the all staff from the bellboys, front desk, housekeeping, spa masseuse, etc were excellent - friendly, helpful & took great pride in their work.
A special mention to Fahsai, who was outstanding during our departure and consistently ensured that everything was taken care of throughout our stay.
Sincere thanks again to Mr Tae and the other lovely lady who let me check in anyway, until I got my wallet

While I understand policies are in place and benefits are tied to status, the response felt quite transactional and disappointing.
An absolute credit to the hotel and he saved the trip for me and saved me a lot of trouble
They treated us like we are royalty made us feel like we were home and important to them.

I must also express my heartfelt thanks to Khun Amarin, the Chief Concierge, whose hospitality was absolutely top-notch.
Kwang, Pair, DeeDee, and the rest of the team are who make the elite lounge experience great.
Early morning when Im about to check out, I’ve met one of the staff name Fahsai.

Staff at reception were not very helpful when I needed explanation of vat and government tax
She responds saying 'this is it, you take it if you want.' Not at all welcoming.
I was greeted with such warmth and friendliness that made me feel instantly at home.

We celebrated our honeymoon at the hotel and they prepared a beautiful room for us
Thank 'Fahsai' and everyone else for being so kind and thoughtful during our stay.
The staff is incredibly welcoming and did everything to ensure you enjoyed your stay.

Throughout my entire stay, the team consistently ensured that everything met my satisfaction.
Staff always great Door / Bellboys some of the best, FOH always helpful.
We were truly impressed by their prompt response, professionalism, and genuine care.

He always greeted us with a big smile and had great recommendations.
The guys on the door always helping and giving information was awesome
Food shift manager, Jay and staff were always ready to assist.

Especially the tourists recommendation and patient explanation to all of us.
I requested new towels from the hotel, but the room phone was not connecting. I went straight to the front desk to ask, and they said they would bring them. After taking a shower and waiting for 20 minutes, they still hadn't delivered. I went back to the front desk again, and after another 10 minutes, they still hadn't arrived. On my third trip down, I directly told them I could get it myself and didn't want to wait any longer, which prompted them to quickly call another staff member to bring them to me.
Huge shout out to the staff, every single person we came into contact with was excellent - I really appreciated the small touches like, fresh coconuts, finding us 'long pants' to wear so we could visit temples and negotiating with the tuk-tuk and taxi drivers to get us the best rates.

Staff, exceptional breakfast, great room, fabulous beds and amenities, superb infinity pool, great location to visit west bangkok and historical temples (Wat Pho, Wat Arun...), 15min walk to boat bus to enjoy Chao praya, loads of restaurants choice around (sushi, ramen, korean bbq and of course thai food).
In the end, I filed a complaint with the hotel manager, but the situation remained the same. For your information, there are no cameras in the corridors between the rooms, and this is unsafe because you cannot prove who entered the room.
After I speak several times with the reception they offered me a new room after 5 hours they bring us in a room with exactly the same non existing view with opportunity to choose a room in the night with a view…

Rooms: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse352 relevant reviews
Guests repeatedly praised the spacious, clean, comfortable rooms, especially family suites with full kitchens, washer-dryers, ample storage, and city views. Comfortable beds, excellent showers, and effective housekeeping were common positives. Some furnishings were described as dated or worn; connecting-room noise, bathroom drain smells, cleaning defects, and difficult-to-regulate air conditioning were also reported.

When booking the hotel, we requested a room with a nice view because we were celebrating a birthday and our engagement anniversary, but they gave us a room with two separate beds and a view of a slum.
The air conditioner worked a bit oddly; it froze us, we set the temperature higher, it shows 26, but after a while it goes down to 23.
There was a connecting door in the room that always creaked and opened; we were able to fix this with a piece of paper.

I had to go down the next day and remind them then had to go down the next day again!!
Compared with Hilton, given the same room size, the layout is better to give it a sense of spaciousness.
Our room had a washer, table for six, sink, dishes, and simply good value for the money.

The room was perfect for a longer stay, and I especially loved having a full kitchen.
A wonderful and clean room with a huge king-size double bed and breathtaking views of Bangkok.
Size of the room, the view, the pool, the beds, staff - above all expectations.

We were upgraded, we had a magnificent suite with a beautiful view of Bangkok.
So I waited at reception and someone came up and sorted it out.
The rooms are very clean and well maintained, and they are nicely decorated.

Good Marriott with comfortable, clean rooms, we were in the Residential Suite.
Comfort was excellent, in terms of sleeping, facilities, climate control, bathrooms, etc.
Rooms in need of renovation, extremely high prices at the bar.

Wonderful rooms and maids do an amazing jobs cleaning the room.
Hotel rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and overall nice.
We had the two bedroom suite which was very spacious.

Beautiful apartments with a spectacular view from the higher floors.
We were able to move to the 22nd floor
For one, the shower water suddenly became not hot.

We stayed in a lovely and spacious family room.
Great hotel and large rooms with excellent amenities.
There are some problems with the room equipment.

The bed and linens were neat and comfortable.
The very main reasons that I had chosen this hotel was for 1) The room size, layout, design, colour scheme and the minimalist style which suits my taste, 2) the twin room that came with double beds 3) and the flooring that was not carpeted (except for the piece underneath the bed.)
One of the most important preferences of my booking was Noise Canceled room but also this was not provided the room was connected with a wood door like for an wardrobe with the neighbor room so I could hear EVERY NOISE OF THE NEIGHBOURS!!!! and they the same at me…

I booked a suite with 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 single beds because there are no 2 double beds, I asked to join them but they refused (which is something that's done in any hotel in Bangkok except apparently theirs)
Lastly, the door chain lock fell off by itself, that my girlfriend almost stepped upon the sharp screw, and it seemed to be poorly fixed in place by two screws, which made one doubt it's capable of preventing someone from entering the room.
After I speak several times with the reception they offered me a new room after 5 hours they bring us in a room with exactly the same non existing view with opportunity to choose a room in the night with a view…

Breakfast: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse306 relevant reviews
Breakfast is repeatedly praised for its exceptional size, variety, and quality, with Thai and international dishes, fresh fruit, healthy choices, and standout items such as mango sticky rice and a noodle bar. Guests often call it among their best hotel breakfasts. Occasional drawbacks include a wait for a table, a requested vegetarian dish being unavailable, and one guest finding it disappointing.

There was so much food, some of it you didn't know or didn't know how to prepare (!) that you spent 10-15 minutes just going around the buffet and thinking about what to eat (and how to eat it!).
We wanted a box for the morning, but the options were quite restricted: only a banana and an apple as fruits, with the choice between orange juice or apple juice.
I lowered the rating because when we asked to take a croissant for the child before leaving during the paid breakfast, we were categorically prohibited from taking anything with us.

There is a very large buffet with a lot of choices, but the quality is not up to par for a hotel of this standard.
Maybe the breakfast hours could be extended to 11 am; when on vacation, one can easily get a bit stressed about it.
Reserve a good time to take a breakfast which includes a big variety of all kinds of food and drinks.

Breakfast - a lot of Indian food (I think it's Indian) and very cold in the breakfast restaurant.
We have been to many hotels in Bangkok but Marriott Surowonse by far provides the best breakfast.
The breakfast has great selection and tables are far from each other makes it feel private.

The buffet breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had, anywhere in the world.
The breakfast is the highlight, good selection of food to fulfill all different countries.
It's really incomparable to anything else if you've only stayed in European hotels.

Breakfast buffet was pretty large and had a lot of healthy options.
More catered to Chinese guests. Nevertheless, the price is a bit high.
One of the most diverse breakfast buffets I have ever experienced.

The buffet breakfast has all you are looking for and more.
The breakfast was so good with great variety of choice.
Still enough options not to get boating for a year.

Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety of options.
Very good breakfasts with professional service. Everything is fresh.
Breakfast was remarkable. The choice of options was endless.

The breakfast is very diverse and absolutely delicious🙏🏼
Very good breakfast buffet with a wide selection.
The breakfast and dining choices were outstanding.

A big congratulations to the whole team.
The gym facilities and breakfast were fantastic.
Highlight for me was the Breakfast Buffet.

Breakfast was great, never seen like it
The best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had!
The breakfast is phenomenal as well.

Pool: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse285 relevant reviews
The rooftop infinity pool is a standout, repeatedly praised for sweeping Bangkok skyline views, especially at night, and as a relaxing place with loungers, towel service, and a pool bar. Some guests found it small or too busy; others reported cold water, dirty glass or debris, dated changing rooms, slow or disappointing pool food, and high bar prices.

When we checked out we were told we could still spend our time in the pool before we left for the airport - but once we got up to the pool we were questioned three times by separate members of staff about which room we were staying in, almost in an accusatory tone.
The pool area is very poorly designed by the architect: If the pool has to be built facing north, I would choose a flexible roof to reduce shade and also remove the southern side wall to let in more sunlight.
Of course, it's an infinity pool! Super view and no protective walls. It's not very big, but the view is amazing, overlooking the nearest skyscrapers. Sun loungers on the ground and in the water. Bar.

The pool and its view from the 18th floor over the city and its buildings: it's very beautiful during the day and exceptional at night.
One could relax well at the pool if it weren't for the numerous influencers posing for hours for the perfect photo.
The quality of the room, the excellent breakfast, the magnificent pool with a very beautiful view of the buildings.

We could look directly down at the rooftop pool on the 18th floor, it was a dream!
... and the pool was wonderful, especially early in the morning when it was all mine!
Fantastic pool (only the water could be heated or a bit warmer) and rooftop.

The pool is one of the better ones I've experienced in Bangkok hotels.
Rooftop bar and pool on the 18th are also in great condition
The view of the pool is one of the best in Bangkok.

But I was able to enjoy the room and the pool.
Pool is amazing with view from the top of the building.
The Infinity edge pool was especially popular with the kids.

We often used the pool with this view as well.
The pool has a very beautiful view in the evening
The hotel was clean and had a great pool area.

The Infinity pool has unbelievable views of the city.
Nice pool with a beautiful view over the city.
Too many kids in the beautiful serene pool !

The pool is nice with a stunning view!
Outstanding city views from pool and rooftop restaurant.
Beautiful infinity pool with such amazing view

The infinity pool was also very nice.
Loved the pool on the 18th floor.
Pool experience and spa were delightful.

The decking is broken and tired.
Excellent hotel with an exceptional pool
The amazing swimming pool 😻

Location: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse227 relevant reviews
Guests praise the local street food, convenience stores, markets and walkable neighborhood, and some find the hotel a practical base for exploring. However, it is not close to BTS/MRT stations or many major sights, and getting around can mean relying on taxis or Grab; traffic is a recurring frustration, especially at peak times.

Great location to visit west bangkok and historical temples (Wat Pho, Wat Arun...), 15min walk to boat bus to enjoy Chao praya, loads of restaurants choice around (sushi, ramen, korean bbq and of course thai food).
The location of the hotel is very good too, about 30-40 minutes from the airport (outside of peak traffic hours) and 15 minutes by tuk-tuk or taxi from the MBK shopping center and some temples.
Area is a bit outside city center so keep that in mind - you'll likely end up using GRAB and public transport, but they also offer shuttle from hotel to nearest BTS station.

Since it was a travel destination, I mainly took taxis, so I didn't find it very inconvenient, and I liked that I could walk a lot while using public transportation.
We ended up loving the location as it is an easy 10 min drive to everywhere (river, Siam Malls, IconSiam, downtown temples, etc.) and you avoid the congestion around Siam.
It is conveniently located for exploring the city both on foot and by public transport (both the subway and the boat dock can be reached in about 15 minutes)

We wanted to get away from the Sukhumvit corridor for our most recent trip to Bangkok and we chose the Marriott Surawongse based on its excellent reviews.
Perfect spot for the start of our honeymoon in terms of location and having an urban oasis to retreat to and escape the heat!
Was very worried about the location when booking as there is very little around within walking distance and is a bit isolated.

It faces a one-way street with chronic traffic jams, and it took longer than expected even when calling a nearby Grab.
It's a bit far from the center, but with local inexpensive taxis and tuk-tuk drivers, it's really not a problem.
Fortunately the Hotel has a good location, so I could quickly buy one at the next 7 Eleven Store.

The location is good but it gets very busy if you want to get a ride or taxi.
The location is relatively close to Icon Siam, and since it's a Marriott, the facilities were naturally good.
You can reach the riverbanks and the start of the Chinatown district by foot in 15 minutes.

The location is not optimal, but there is a free shuttle service to the BTS station
In fact, hotels in busy areas like Siam end up needing to rely on public transportation,
The location was also a great positive point, practical and convenient for enjoying the area.

The location is much better than the area near the Anantara, St. Regis, and Kimpton.
Good location - close to many main attractions, next to JTC, 40min do BKK.
The trouble is that you generally spend a lot of time battling traffic.

However, some of the famous temples are a bit far from the hotel.
Convenient for exploring local areas but quite far from the big sights.
Still, it's totally fine to get around using Grab or a taxi.

The location of the hotel was quite far from the metro/train.
Location - seemingly in the center, but there's nothing nearby.
Perfect and serene location in a very busy city.

Great hotel with a good location to many attractions
The location is good but not the perfect one.
Traffic from and to the hotel was terrible

Facilities: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse146 relevant reviews
Guests frequently praise the clean, well-maintained facilities, especially the infinity pool and rooftop bar with panoramic Bangkok views, as well as the Executive/M Club Lounge’s food and drinks. Some report slow elevators or overnight maintenance, worn corridor carpets, and expensive laundry or rooftop drinks; poolside orders can also take a long time.

There are many problems at the hotel, including sudden power outages and the security phone does not work, or there is no emergency phone on the floors for notifications, we needed to go down to the lobby to report the issue.
And a rooftop on the 32nd floor offering an incredible panoramic view of Bangkok, perfect at sunset for sipping a cocktail (500 baht per cocktail on average, which is two to three times cheaper than at other rooftops in Bangkok).
While ordering extra water everything was coming on delay like water in room and I would expect mini bar to be filled when a guest arrive in a hotel only that was disappointment.

The floor-to-ceiling windows offer an amazing view of Bangkok, and it was the perfect place to sit back, enjoy the food and drinks, and take in the city skyline.
They even have a safe at reception where you could possibly leave all the valuables safe and go out in the wild bangkok to enjoy carefree.
Access to the M-Lounge (31st floor) was granted to me through the booked category. The lounge was great. Comfortable, quiet, the staff was nice and attentive.

It took them 1 hour to make a juice and bowl of fruits while the pool capacity is not so high even at rush hours
Minor irritants such as the towels provided could have been more, one additional chair in the room was needed, constant cistern leakage that wasn't fixed.
Price of hotel was bit expensive plus price of food was really expensive too like we order a two soup and pasta cost us AUD$60.

While the hotel is excellent overall, some areas would benefit from an update—the corridor carpets and doors appear scratched and worn.
There was also a very nice floral scent in the lobby, which my mother and I really appreciated.
A little bit expensive for what you get, specifically the drinks you buy at the pool....

The air conditioning in the common areas is very strong and you feel cold.
Equipment (washing machine and kitchenette with dishes) quite complete, useful for long stays.
The design, comfort and usability of the rooms and facilities are first class!

Rooftop bar with great views is worth visiting despite of pricy drinks.
But that is nothing compared to how good the rest was!
Rooftop terrace with cocktail bar and DJ with sunset was awesome.

The roof top bar is probably the best in BKK.
The rooftop bar is really cool with some great views!
3 restaurants with good cuisine. The buffet was excellent.

This was completely different clean level vs all hotel.
Rooftop bar on the 32nd floor. Nice ambiance.
Food & leisure (pool - gym - bar)

Very comfortable hotel with all the necessary amenities.
The towels by the pool were torn.
View from the rooftop terrace is breathtaking

The amenities (spa, pool, restaurants, workspaces).
Beautiful rooftop bar at the hotel.
Incredible rooftop bar with breathtaking views!

Restaurant: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse113 relevant reviews
Yao’s rooftop bar and restaurant are standout draws for Bangkok views, atmosphere, drinks, and often excellent food. Guests also praise the varied Asian and Western choices and breakfast. Dining is not uniformly strong: some found the Chinese restaurant or Praya Kitchen disappointing, hotel food and drinks expensive, and dietary safeguards inadequate, including uncertainty about halal food and shrimp exposure in many dishes.

My only potential 'downer' was the restaurant; the quality of the food vs. the price... didn't work in right favour for me... I would not gush about visiting the restaurant on your stay.
Thank you excellent service from Khun Tu (Restaurant Manager) since I stepped up at the restaurant, she recommended food individually all buffet line that how to order seafood and meat section.
The atmosphere, music, drinks, and animations at the Yao Rooftop Bar were all very well done — this place truly deserves to be more widely known and more highly awarded.

Considering how much you’re paying - especially in Bangkok where you know for a fact you can eat for a fraction of this price - it needs to be better.
But what was amazing was the quality of the food - it is rare that almost everything from the kitchen was delicious, fresh, and reasonable value for a hotel.
The meal at the Chinese restaurant was a disaster: with the noise from the room next to our table (at the back left of the entrance).

It's a pity to announce that the restaurant services close at 10:00 PM, while orders placed after 9:30 PM are no longer accepted at both restaurants.
Rooftop is only open from 5:00 PM and it's a Chinese restaurant - which means it can only be used very limitedly by hotel guests.
For me, the only thing I didn't like was the open wardrobe in the room, it gave the feeling of disorder since everything was exposed.

Every evening they prepared delicious mocktails for our family and served some of the best authentic Thai vegan food we had during our trip.
The noise from chairs being dragged on the floor, the handling of dishes for setting up the two large tables in front of us.
The salad ordered at the pool restaurant (an entirely overcooked crab, but unappetizing) was inedible, this has never happened to us to this extent.

The rooftop restaurant is fantastic if you like Dim Sum and is a nice, quiet break from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.
We ordered room service for dinner, as there were no free tables in the hotel restaurants at 8:30 PM.
Roof top bar is a bonus, the decoration of the bar is nice with some Asian style...beautiful.

Took ages to take our order, everything came out far too fast and it was cold.
The food at the restaurants is top notch and varied with very helpful servers.
Their Khao Soi, a Northern Thai specialty, was incredibly rich, flavorful, and memorable.

It is in walking distance to a few highly ranked food eateries.
We didn't use the hotel restaurant or bar but both looked fabulous.
The people carrying dirty towels, and then there's the restroom trash!

Rooftop bar was amazing as was the food at the restaurant.
Cost of food and drink in hotel higher than expected.
The choice of food in the Chinese restaurant was poor.

The in-room dinning food options were limited and not great.
The restaurant at the top floor was 5/10 though,
In the morning, the child had a stomach ache.

Don’t miss after-dinner cocktails on the Yao roof terrace!
The food is very good and very delicious.
View is exceptional however they made multiple mistakes.

Check-in / Check-out: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse46 relevant reviews
Check-in is often described as quick, smooth, and welcoming; guests also report room upgrades and occasional early check-in or late checkout. Problems include booked rooms being unavailable, extra charges for early arrival or service and taxes disclosed only at check-in, and deposits not promptly refunded or released.

Although this issue was sorted immediately via the use of a different card, we were made to feel rather uncomfortable by the check-in representative, whose friendly demeanour immediately disappeared when the first card declined, and remained that way even after the issue was solved.
It would have also been really helpful to get a sheet at check in with times and location for breakfast etc as it’s given verbally but by the time I needed to remember it I had to ring and ask again.
It was fixed but a bit disappointed I had to prove this twice and had to have my driver wait for me for my airport transfers in order to get this situation fixed, that should’ve been settled the first time.

When we arrived for check-in, it turned out that the room we booked was somehow occupied. The receptionist transferred us to another room and only the next day did they move us to the room we had booked.
However, even though I arrived at 9 AM, they charged 390 riyals for 3 hours even though the room was ready and I informed the hotel of my arrival time and the booking in advance.
They charged me an additional amount even though I had informed the hotel and the booking about my arrival at 9 AM. They took about 390 riyals, or I could wait until 4 PM.

We were initially promised a different price, we requested to stay a few more hours until our flight. In the end, we were charged three times the initial price without our prior knowledge…
Following a mistake in the booking, I had emailed to ask if it was possible to pay an extra fee for a room on a higher floor and I never received a response.
We arrived quite early on March 9 from Montreal, and the young lady at the reception kindly suggested we use the swimming pool area to take a shower and change clothes.

We had accidentally forgotten a suitcase at the hotel after checking out, and he immediately helped us and arranged for it to be sent to us by taxi without any delay.
Before our stay, we had requested a room upgrade, and we were pleasantly surprised that the team remembered our request and upgraded us to a suite when we arrived.
1. That we were informed during check-in that we had to pay an additional 10% service charge and 7% tax, which made the total booking an extra 100 euros!

When asked about the pillows, Housekeeping should inform guests that there is a choice of soft foam pillows or harder latex pillows instead of just providing more pillows.
I understand hotels have to be very careful about payments these days, but the reaction felt a little disproportionate considering the deposit was paid about 2 minutes later.
I had forgotten to notify my bank that I was travelling, so my credit card was automatically blocked when I tried to use it for the deposit.

On check in I was informed that the hotel policy was that only one additional person aged 12+ is allowed complimentary use of the lounge.
From the moment we checked in and the moment we entered our room we already know we are going to have such a great time.
In the accommodation, we were not refunded the deposit to our card after checking out, even though they said they had made the refund.

But we were allowed to leave our belongings there for a day after checking out and take a nice shower in the evening.
We had to pay a service charge of 10% at checkout, which was not indicated at the time of booking.
Moreover, the hotel allowed us to check in early and check out late, to accommodate our arrival and departure times.

If I were to nitpick, I think they were a bit pushy at check-in about us upgrading our room.
Our key card for the lift didn’t work a few times, we had to get it changed at reception.
Not ideal with this expensive room rate to only be able to check into the room at 6:30 PM.

For the amount paid (half of the daily rate), the late check-out (7 PM) could have been later.
Paid for early check in but room wasn’t ready (they ended up refunding us)
From the moment I checked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality

I think there was still availability since it was low season
Check in process is excellent - friendly and welcoming.
The entire check in/out process was super easy.

Transport: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse31 relevant reviews
The hotel offers a shuttle to a nearby BTS station, but several guests say it runs only from the hotel, on a fixed schedule, and is too far to walk back. The location is not close to public transport, so guests often rely on Grab/Bolt or taxis; Bangkok traffic can make trips slow. The airport is about 30 minutes away.

Free shuttle us provided to skytrain but not return and it’s too far to walk so might as well get your own transportation all the way back to hotel, not worth taking skytrain and then grabbing taxi.
The gentleman from the shuttle bus could not clearly communicate where he would drop us off; it was then not where we understood it would be…
The hotel offers a shuttle bus to a BTS station (Sala Daeng); however, the schedule is fixed once or twice an hour.

He even went as far as arranging reliable and cost friendly transportation for my wife and I for our whole stay.
Even some taxis with grab will try to up the price that they have agreed to don’t do it.
Getting around would require you to rely on ride hailing platforms as it’s not close to the train.

The hotel also provides a shuttle to the nearby BTS station, making it easy to get around.
The shuttle service takes guests to the nearest railway station, but does not pick you up anymore.
Private drivers will take you to the airport for 800 baht, so I feel hustled by Marriott.

During our stay, we also made use of the hotel’s shuttle service to the BTS station.
It was very helpful that they even helped us catch a taxi and negotiated for us!
WiFi was good 50 mbps which is fast enough for working, video calls, and streaming.

Maybe a little remote but the concierge will get you a taxi in a dash.
We opted for the return private transfer to/from the airport which was efficient and comfortable.
We can arrive in touk touk or premium SUV, you ‘ll be treated equally.

The location is far from the malls, especially during peak traffic, making transportation difficult
Use grab like armor suggested or you will get ripped off with the price.
In the afternoon it is difficult to get a taxi due to the location.

If hotel can arrange something to get a taxi then that will be great.
Marriott charged us 2,500 baht which is 5 times as much as a taxi.
10 mins walk a ferry and about a 6-7 mins to a train.

- 30 minutes from the airport when there is not too much traffic
We could easily reach the main attractions with Grab and Tuk Tuk
The traffic in Bangkok is so fierce it takes so much time.

Everything was great except when we ordered transportation back to the airport.
A bit far from public transport but you can walk there
The shuttle between the hotel and Lumpini Park is a plus.

You need to have an app to book a taxi.
We had no problems picking one up at the airport.
And taxis are really cheap so actually no problem.

Gym: What guests say

Guests mostly praised the gym as well equipped, with newer or high-end machines, free weights, treadmills, and other workout options; one guest said they could complete all their workouts there. It was described as clean and open 24 hours, with city views, though one review called it dirty and poorly maintained, and another found it small.

The gym isn’t very big, but it has a separate cardio area and was usually quiet, probably because most guests were out enjoying Songkran!
The gym was excellent with free weights, treadmills, and weight machines and other things like elliptical I think but I didn’t check them out.
The fitness room was very luxurious and extensive; I was able to do all my workouts, and the equipment is high-end as well.

I used the gym a few time which was very well equipped.
The gym was very clean and live all the machines.
The gym equipment looked new and were very good.

Spa: What guests say
View Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse14 relevant reviews
Spa feedback was mostly positive: guests praised the clean, well-organised space and especially the massages, with one calling a massage among their best. Some facilities were unavailable, including the jacuzzi and steam room; the hammam was described as tiny and limited to a 10-minute booking. One guest also reported conflicting information about massage availability.

I told her that the lady at the front desk just spoke to you and confirmed that 15:00 is available but she just said NO, COME TOMORROW.
On the day of departure, I was kindly allowed to use the spa area for a shower before leaving in the evening.
And I forgot hiiiiii the tiny hammam which must be booked for a maximum of 10 minutes per day 😡😡😡

When I go there to the spa the lady says NO, NOT AVAILABLE, her tone was not all nice.
The front desk lady tells me 15:00 is available and you can just go to the spa.
We also enjoyed the spa, with its meticulously organised space and highly skilful therapists.

The spa – the massage was one of the best I’ve had.
I wanted to reserve a slot for a massage at the spa.
The jacuzzi and the steam room were out of service.
