Other than the above issues, it was a comfortable stay however, I would try somewhere else in Bangkok if I were returning.

It’s definitely not a horrible hotel though, but for what they claim it is, it didn’t live up to it.

Staff went above and beyond to be helpful, and we needed plenty of help as first-time travellers to Thailand.

The price of staying is expensive btw, I hope I could choose other cheaper hotels with better interior design.

The hotel is very well situated to walk around the city with close transport links.

The decor is well thought out with an eclectic mix of modern and decoish style.

We definitely recommend Akara to anyone as a great place to stay whilst in Bangkok.

The hotel is 5 star rated however, I would not agree it is.

Can highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again on our return.

Hotel lobby is small and compact, 15-20 people there easily looked crowded already.

Comfortable and easy place to use as our "home base."

The room was spacious and comfortable.

Modern lobby and modern rooms.

Every time i took a shower it would set the smoke detector off and front desk would send someone up to make sure i was not smoking in the room this happened 5 different times and was great having to explain to staff that im trying to take a shower just in a towel.

The photos of the room we booked showed a shower as well as a bath - don’t be fooled, there is only a bath with a shower on top and a slightly dingy shower curtain.

The shower area (mini tub) is not suitable for the elderly as you have to make a big step in and out of the tub and it could be slippery after the shower.

Once I checked out and had to go back to the room to retrieve a forgotten item, I saw a gentlemen only making the bed instead of stripping the sheets.

There is a faint smell of the toilet in the room, which goes away after leaving the air purifier and AC on for a while, but it comes back everyday.

However, the actual toilet is separate from the bathroom (completely across the room) which is a little odd when you have to walk across the room to wash your hands.

Kind of a weird set up where the toilet is on the opposite side of the room so you have to walk across the room Jusf to wash your hands.

The handle on the basin’s tap was loose and shown signs of multiple fixes, but it comes off all the time when I try to use it.

The wash towel was not stained but was dirty due to the fact that my feet got dirty from walking in Temples with shoes and socks.

Some issues that were poor were that the bed linen and towels definitely were not changed everyday despite the room being asked to be made up.

The TV wasn’t working when we got to our room and unable to fix it they left us with a keyboard to navigate the channels.

The room was very clean with only a few things looking out of place ( the air vents were hanging out of place a bit).

The room I stayed was a deluxe room and the design was quite unique as the WC is separated from the shower area.

We phoned up for some ice to be sent to our room and they kept asking what we wanted with our rice.

It was such a relief to step into the quiet of the hotel after the hustle and bustle of all the activities.

Secondly, there was some dirt or potentially human waste on the bidet hose, which clearly wasn't cleaned properly before we checked in.

The bathtub, while usable, leaks water very quickly, so we had to leave the tap on if we need to use it.

The rooms feel luxury and Hugh quality although they are a bit small but for the price it's completely worth it.

My room had a funny odor coming from one of the drains, which is why I’m rating this hotel a 4.

The wifi was very slow, tv didn’t work, the room had an odd smell, they only gave you one key, etc.

It was so clean as well and my room on the 9th floor had such a great view of the city.

The single room I had was spacious with an interesting set-up, with a separate room for the bathroom and toilet.

There was a dry spill on the floor and stains on the bathroom sink and desk.

The only thing was that the tub and the shower curtain were a bit dirty.

The room was exactly like the photos and internet access was quick and reliable.

The bed is a bit high for those who might have mobility issues.

Marble and wooden floors with rugs made it really homely and comfortable.

Objectively, the room looks like the photos and it looks good.

However, the hotel itself is much smaller than I thought.

Room is cool with large jetted tub open balcony.

He did above and beyond for us starting from arranging our transportation, gave information about the tourist attractions spot that we wanted to see or need to see, made our stay more comfortable less stressful and ending with good free snacks daily that he always reminded us about the snacks and entertainment with kids that made our stay more relaxing!

Staff members also had a very poor grasp of English as when asked if we could book afternoon tea 4 times (also showing a photo of the afternoon tea) we would not get through to them.

One of the poor employees has to come all the way down to your room, give you the menu to look at, take your order, go back upstairs and then come down with your food.

The staff were fine when asked to help but compared to the rest of our stay around SE Asia, they weren’t proactive at all, just sat back where ever possible.

Would suggest the waiters clearly explain the food choices on the menu, especially if they are different than what is pictured on the menu.

The staff were all so lovely and helpful - special mention for Kaye, Ray, Rich & Chay who were so courteous and kind.

I do appreciate the hotel took the trouble to provide a cake but I just wondering how come the decoration was inconsistent?

All other staff were good ….. Just Front Desk Manager was not nice Front Desk Check In (Normal Staff) we’re good.

The hotel itself has warm and friendly front desks and an amazing hospitality (free afternoon snack prior to check in).

The Front Desk Manager (female) on Check In (on 21 June 2024. was extremely difficult and not Welcoming and miserable

Staff are very pleasant and attentive although it seemed only the lady on reception could speak English.

Ray the customer relations person was excellent and very helpful the whole time of our stay.

Staff is excellent and very friendly, go out of there way to assist in any way.

You were able to smoke drugs on the rooftop bar also which was not ideal.

To be fair the reception staff were really good allowed us to have a shower.

Weird alarms going off at 8am in the morning which staff doesnt seem to care

The staff were very friendly however many were inexperienced, service was hit and miss.

Staff appeared more preoccupied with their mobile phones than opening doors for guests.

She had someone look at it, but it still had not been fixed.

Good service staff which will pull your luggage for you when you arrived.

The hotel staff were really the shining star during our stay!

We mentioned this to the woman at the front desk.

Bangkok was the first stop in our trip, and I really liked that this hotel was close to a lot of the activities we planned.

Defo recommend that you take the train from the airport as it’s only 35 mins and far less time and cost than taking a taxi.

Confidently located next to one of the train stops to and from the airport which makes it very easy to beat the Bangkok traffic.

This property is a walkable distance to the Pratunam shopping district which is sooo appreciated, especially if you love their morning wholesale market.

Hotel is actually tugged away from the ever busy Pratunam area which was part of the reason why I chose this hotel too.

We were within walking distance from Platinum mall and baioke towers shopping area (both excellent places to find a bargain).

Hotel is ideally placed on the direct airport rail link, and therefore easy to utilise the other rail/metro options.

Next to a noisy highway, but wasn't a major issue being in a big city where it's noisy everywhere.

Location is really good too, managed to walk to quite a few places and avoid the Bangkok traffic.

The view we got, facing the train station, looks down on what seems to be a slum area.

The hotel is in a good location, not being too far from most of the typical tourist spots.

We kept our curtains closed the whole duration of our stay because the view looks very sad.

The location is extremely convenient and easy train and taxi access to all key locations across Bangkok.

Walking distance to Ratchaprarop station means hasle-free commute from the Suvarnabhumi Airport to the hotel.

The BTS is also very close (a con if you need complete silence to sleep).

Quiet the haven to return to after a hectic day out and about in Bangkok

The Akara Hotel is a beautiful, classic hotel located in the center of Bangkok.

Good place to stay for the price and location for a night or 2.

It was easy for me to get a Grab car and go wherever.

Really nice boutique style hotel located on the Airport Rail Link (ARL).

We enjoyed the Indian market a short walk from the hotel.

The location is quiet but not far from lots of sights.

Very close to BTS train, easy to get to suvrabathum airport.

There's also public transportation nearby if you choose that option too.

This hotel is very close to Siam Paragon and MBK.

It has some options for food if you walk around.

We walked a mile or two to two shopping malls.

Super convenient for train straight from airport.

Very handy to Ratchaparup train station.

Walking distance to Platinum Mall.

Some of the reviews mentioned the pool being small but I didn't see an issue with that as it was never crowded during my 6-day stay.

We didn't use the rooftop pool but it's next to the bar and the views at night with the city lit up are super!

It's also only 3-4 feet deep so it's perfect if you don't know how to swim like me.

We enjoyed the pool to cool off after a long day of exploring the city.

We had dinner above the rooftop pool, which was very nice.

They we were able to sunbathe by the pool.

The pool isn’t really much to speak of though.

The pool is actually nice, but also, quite small.

The only recommendation I would make is that they make pancakes fresh not in advance but this is true of most hotels in Thailand not just Akara.

I had a blackout there for 2 hours and that was enough for the breakfast bar to give me norovirus.

I would say though, the breakfast was probably the best selection of food that the hotel has to offer.

Breakfast caters more for Asian visitors rather than Western Visitors but that’s not too much of an issue.

We opted to have breakfast at the hotel and then headed to the mall.

The breakfast buffet was wonderful with a wide range of variety and selections.

There are quite a few things to choose from, however, none taste good.

Delicious snacks were served which were really welcome in the afternoon pre-dinner.

Even the fruits doesn’t taste good most of the days.

Along with free snacks at 2pm daily for hotel guests.

Breakfast had different types of food every day.

The breakfast was such a great add on.

Great breakfast, including western and eastern options.

The breakfast was deeply disappointing and inconsistent.

Don’t expect the British breakfast lol.

Afternoon tea was complimentary.

The view of Bangkok from the bar on the top floor was unbelievably beautiful and definitely a big draw for the hotel.

They also have a lounge area with free snacks and nibbles which was beyond simply basic nibbles rather delicious and extravagant.

Nice pool with a view and above that a great rooftop bar which also served a selection of different food.

As for the remaining services of the hotel, I was pretty happy as they provided free light refreshments between 2-5pm.

The one room they labelled meeting room does not open at night, has no plugs, and has no WiFi.

Had a wonderful stay with stunning facilities, including easy access to the many markets and shopping centres.

The only setback is that they don't serve hot coffee or tea. Maybe that can be considered.

My only complaint is the shower mat had mold on it and needed to be cleaned.

Great facilities and the free snacks and tea mid afternoon is a really nice touch.

The decor is stunning and elegant with marble floors and exquisite wall coverings throughout.

Nice convenient place but could do with an upgrade.

The rooftop bar was also such a great addition.

The property has no usable WiFi throughout the building.

The hotel has 17 floors and two elevators.

We never had to wait for an elevator.

There is no office space or meeting room.

The drinks in the barracuda bar are extortionate for the location (£6 per bottle of beer is more than London prices) and doesn’t open until 6pm.

It was inedible, but due to the language barrier, we were unable to explain why we were unsatisfied with the meal.

We enjoyed the Rooftop Bar and Restaurant where we drank and ate for the one evening we stayed there.

When our food came, however, it was totally unlike the dish described on the menu.

We also had an unfortunate experience at the Filipino restaurant in the hotel.

The dish was described on the menu in a clear and certain manner.

I also wasn't a big fan of how the room service worked.

The meal selection was average so we ate out most nights.

The barracuda rooftop bar was very nice and again well priced.

The concierge recommended a certain Filipino dish for us to try.

The food at the restaurant could be better.

I would have rated this hotel at least a 4, however the night before checking out the hotel informed me I would be charged 200BHT for a stained wash towel.

You’re greeted only with an instant demand for a credit card (but not Amex) so told we had to give over 1000 bat per day in cash for potential damages.

We returned to A,Arab after our European trip and after an 11 hour overnight flight we arrived at the hotel at around 8am and were exhausted.

Only negative was the fact that we had flown overnight and arrived at 0830am and the room wouldn’t be ready until 2pm.

The bell boy then shows you to your room, where he tells you the cost of everything should you damage it.

They also will not let you check in until 2pm which was rough after traveling for 24 hours.

Requested for an early check in but rooms were only available after 2pm which was good enough.

He understood our dilemma and went to work trying to find us the earliest check in.

I was planning on doing that anyway but I thought it should've been pointed out.

I will say that there were some discrepancies in the description on hotels.com.

After checking in, it was obvious the room was not cleaned well.

By 9.30am we had our room clean and ready for us.

Rey on the front desk was marvellous.

Upon checking in, Khun Tee greeted us.

Anyway, we managed to check in.

There was not airport shuttle available.

5 star check in service

They did take our bags.

I took a Grab.

Checkin was easy.

Firstly, our transfer from BKK airport to the hotel didn't show up, apparently because the member of staff left the company before booking.

Perfectly placed for the train journey from and to the main international airport at a very reasonable cost of just 40 baht!

The other issue I wanted to highlight is the hotel actually provides free Tuk Tuk service to the nearest BTS.

Close to the airport railway link, which was very useful for getting around the city and the arrival/departure.

Only got to know about it when I saw the Tuk Tuk and asked the recepti.

The hotel is not on the river but you can take a taxi.

They did rectify this and refund our transfer booking.

This wasn't mentioned when I checked in.
