Guests repeatedly praise this small boutique hotel’s distinctive, whimsical décor, thoughtful details, cleanliness, and warm, attentive service, describing it as personal and full of character in old Bangkok. Breakfast and location also receive praise. Some guests consider it expensive for Bangkok and dispute its five-star positioning, saying it does not feel like a luxury hotel; noise was noted by some.

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our time in Bangkok. We were very pleased with it and also ended our holiday at this hotel. We had mentioned in a review that it could be a bit noisy, and when we stayed there a second time, a staff member immediately took this on board and gave us earplugs in case of any noise.
Our stay was great... for a 3-star hotel. I am confused why this hotel is rated as five star. I have reached out to booking.com to review their criteria because it is inconsistent with other five star hotels we have stayed at.
A wonderful boutique hotel in a historic building! At first, I thought there was a lot of décor, but everything in the interior has been thoughtfully and sensitively chosen. It fits the concept perfectly and looks beautiful together.

What a fantastic experience at DE Phanakron Boutique Hotel in Bangkok! From the moment you step inside, you can tell this hotel is something special.
If you look for reasonably priced accommodation with great service at a great location on downtime bangkok, then look no further!
Even though it was a great stay and hotel, i did not feel it was worth the price.

There were small things that were done that were so thoughtful. Nothing was too much
DE Phanakron Boutique is a lovely Thai boutique hotel in the centre of Bangkok
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at De Phanakron Boutique Hotel!

Even with the lavish decorum, the place is clean and dust free.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others
The whole place takes you back in time great design.

A true hidden gem—I’d come back in a heartbeat!
Quirky attractive style of decor as per website photographs.
A truly lovely stay from start to finish.

Exceptional boutique hotel in the centre of Bangkok
I cannot wait to return for another stay!
2.the hotel very nice , comfy, clean and neat.

Everything, its our 3rd time staying here.
Thank you very much. Truly appreciated ♥️♥️
Not expected these issues with a “hotel”.

Staff: What guests say

Staff are overwhelmingly praised for being warm, attentive, helpful, and willing to go beyond what guests expect, with practical advice and personal care frequently mentioned. One guest described staff spending over an hour contacting the airport and buying clothes after luggage went missing. A contrasting report says the hotel blamed the guest for bringing bedbugs.

We traveled with our dog and we let the hotel know in advance. Everything about this hotel is exceptional! My dog got his own bed and toy from the hotel. The staffs were so friendly and kind and supported everything you need. From the owners to the managers to the receptionists to the cleaning staffs, everyone was so friendly and thoughtful. We had troubles and they tried their best to help us even took care of our dog when we were not in the hotel room. It’s the every little thoughtful detail that makes this stay truly one of the best experiences! I highly highly recommend spending your time here.
The staff was so friendly, they took care of every detail of the room, but also of myself as a person, giving recomendations, worrying about if i ate properly where i visit, recomendations, preparing stuff for me to enjoy my day, go above and beyond to make my traveling outside the hotel enjoyable. Also making me company and great conversation, they let me play with the house dog named Uke, the mos adorable thing ever
The staff are also exceptionally friendly and helpful. They do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible and are always ready with a smile—and even a little cake for our birthday. The service is personal and sincere, which really makes all the difference.

The owners and staff were exceptional. Zen, Mew, Lek, Ana and Bas and others working behind the scenes seemed to make it their mission to ensure we enjoyed a wonderful five nights at the hotel and in Bangkok. They were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.
We were so disappointed with the quality of this place that we were seriously considering getting another hotel room however, the staff were kind and as accomodating as they could be given the situation so ultimately, that is why we decided to stay.
We visited from Spain and really loved this place primarily due to the great hospitality the owner and the staff provided. Everyone was extremely friendly and had some interesting conversations with the staff about bangkok, Thai culture, and local amenities.

But the best of all is the lovely staff that we got to meet! They go above and beond to make your stay comfortable! Such lovely people and very nice to talk to which made our stay even more special.
Our luggage never arrived and the staff surprised us by having bought us some fresh clothes as a gift They also spent over an hour on the phone with the airport, trying to locate our luggage.
Plus the friendly and helpful team at this hotel -- they are all amazing! The owner was particularly kind, offering us a guide and discounted tickets for a boat trip, which was a great suggestion.

The staff at the hotel were the friendliest and most helpful with everything. They helped us get around and gave us the warmest welcome ever.
Wonderful friendly staff who go out their way to make you feel welcome and assist with any tourist activity planning tips.
The staff were very kind, helped and advised us with everything, and we had lovely conversations about Thailand and Bangkok.

The hospitality was 5 starts all the way and the attention to detail is out of the world.
Staff are lovely and looked after us very well, helping us enjoy our stays at the hotel.
The team running this beautiful hotel are so attentive, kind and nothing is too much trouble!

When it came time to leave I was greeted with hugs and a small special gift
They took our breakfast orders and took interest in what we were planning on doing.
Staff was particularly amazing. Exceptionally kind and sensitive people who really look after you.

All the staff were extremely friendly and helped with anything we needed.
Gave us a map and recommended things to do and see.
The staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming.

Staff happy to remedy as staff eager to please.
And were very helpful with everything we needed.
Everything! Wonderful staff that couldn't be more helpful.

The staff offer a good service.

Very, very helpful and friendly personnel
Staff were kind enough to prepare

Rooms: What guests say
View DE Phanakron Boutique Hotel124 relevant reviews
Rooms stand out for distinctive Thai and historical decor, thoughtful details, comfortable beds, and generally good cleanliness; many are well equipped, with some offering two showers and toilets. Room size and light vary considerably: some are spacious, while others are small, windowless or dark, with limited privacy and storage.

Our room did not have windows (this is a major flaw you should show in the booking), was tiny and the bathroom looked like a shared bathroom (and probably initially was intended to be a shared bathroom, as there were multiple separate showers, an additional access door etc).
We had a room on an upper floor. It was very small and had no windows that could be opened, which was a shame. It didn’t bother us much for a short stay. Spacious bathroom setup with 2 showers and 2 toilets. Very good mattresses.
The interior is truly original and decorated with an incredible eye for detail. Every space has its own character, with a beautiful blend of traditional Thai elements and modern touches. You can tell that everything has been thoughtfully considered; it feels stylish, warm, and unique.

Rooms are very dark and humidity. room next to the shared bathroom is quite noisy. no kettle in the room, used Nespresso machine as a kettle.........especially in the six beds room, even not a rubbish bin...... rooms were not with good ventilation......
Extremely clean room. This is very important for me and they did an amazing job there. Rooms were cleaned daily, towels changed every day and bedsheets were changed after our second night (we stayed 4 in total).
There is a nightstand near the bed (which is great), but the headboard prevents access to it, so you need to go out from the bed to put something on it or take something from it.

My room was perfect for one person, probably too small for two. Its window overlooked the ground-floor patio, so it was dark, but since I didn’t spend much time there, it didn’t matter at all.
Our ground floor room lacked natural light. Small amount of hanging space for clothes but no drawers or shelves to store clothes. Shiny golden stag's head over the bed maybe ott style element for me!
Big bed, so if you're tall you don't need to worry, your feet will fit in the bed. :) Yes, the mattress is hard, but I like that so I slept like a baby.

I rated cleanliness slightly lower only because there are so many things in the room that it is almost impossible to keep it clean..but it is a difficult one. Without the items,
The room didn’t have much space to put your stuff - no drawers or places to hang things, the shower was deathly slick, and there was a beam blocking the TV.
But with them, it can be difficult to move in the room plus many of them gather dirt faster than customers change (it is Bangkok after all...dust is everywhere :) ).

Someone has decided to express their interior design ideas and created rooms full of a mish mash of completely unrelated paraphernalia. Not enough power points - no way to contact reception
Cleaningness was okay on the surface but def not great - I had stains on my bed sheets what should be an absolute no go.
The room is large, well-equipped, and well laid out, but above all, extremely personal—not at all like the usual standardized room.

Check the photos, if you can see a bathroom area in the picture then it has an on suite.
Maybe offer more shower gel, as it is difficult for two adults to share one tiny bottle.
A lovely, comfortable room with everything you need. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

- the decoration in the room - The bed is very comfortable
The decor is weird and wonderful, somehow associated with Alice in Wonderland.
The room was huge, with no fewer than two showers,

Our room had no windows and was very small.
The room was clean and stylish and peaceful .
Room was small but very nice, totally unexpected.

The rooms tell a story that is enchanting.
Room was beautiful, very cosy and bed comfortable.
Room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped.

The rooms were comfortable and beautiful.
The room was clean and spacious
Well appointed rooms, and interestingly decorated.

Location: What guests say
View DE Phanakron Boutique Hotel120 relevant reviews
Guests most often praise the hotel’s central Old Town location: major temples and sights, restaurants, cafés, bars, massage shops, and river piers are walkable or a short tuk-tuk ride away. Many describe its quiet side street as a peaceful refuge near lively areas. Some note that getting to other parts of Bangkok, especially modern shopping districts, can be inconvenient amid traffic.

The location was very nice. Near Khao San Road, but far enough to get a good night sleep. We recommend: Thanon Ram Buttri though, less crowded. Also if you like to walk, you can walk to: The grand palace, Wat Pho, The Golden Mount, Wat Arun. But also the hop on hop off boat at Chao Phraya River.
Located on a quiet street right in the middle of the picturesque Old town district. it was the perfect location to have access to all the major attractions in Bangkok, while also providing a quiet solace from the bustle of the city. The hotel is conveniently located a walkable distance from restaurants, bars and massages.
Only issue was that it was hard for Google to find the hotel by walking as it is Old Siam. We always made it back but felt we were in a few circles! Be sure to have the exact GPS points in your maps as the neighborhood has small streets.

Tourist attractions are within reach if that is the main aim of your visit to Bangkok but for us the location of this hotel allowed access to less mainstream bars and restaurants to be enjoyed in this city.
First and foremost, the location of the hotel is a hidden gem in itself. It is tucked away in a quiet corner of the old town, yet everything you could possibly need or want is within walking distance.
My two young children loved the hotel, the kindness of the staff, and its location in a lively yet quiet little neighborhood where it is easy to get around on foot and find small, simple, good restaurants.

Ten minute walk to the pier and 20 min boat ride down to china town / icon siam, it's not far from chatuchek or floating market. We didn't go into CBD so can't comment there.
HOTEL - Unique with lots of bunny decorations, Location along a squeezy small street, among other hotels so its pretty safe to walk at night and day , it's a '' hidden gem''. . 💎
Location was good, close to a few restaurants and bars, and walking distance to Khao San Road and a couple of Chao Phraya river ferry stops (a new metro stop is being built nearby too).

I have stayed in Bangkok a few times and used the city to transit I wasn’t looking forward to this visit. however everything has changed for me. The area is wonderful has a great vibe.
Also, there’s a bird in the garden—absolutely charming during the day, but it turns into an early-morning opera singer. If you’re traveling with little kids, you might not appreciate its 4 a.m. wake-up call!
During night time we can hear really loud whistles...on the first morning , the music was played on 7:30 in the morning. luckily it didn’t continue five mornings. someone must complained about this.

The location was great if you want to be near UNESCAP (we walked to/from daily meetings) and/or prefer a boutique hotel in a quieter side street with a lot of character.
The perfect location, peaceful yet close to lively streets in the evening. A 15–20-minute walk from the Hop-On Hop-Off boat serving the main tourist attractions.
We arrived late and were hungry he took us for a walk in the area and pointed out the best restaurants.

The neighborhood is out of the way, but interesting and not far from the river shuttle.
It felt very secure from the street and the location was perfect for us
I wanted low rise Bangkok, you couldn't even see sky scrapers from here.

Location was good, short walk to Khaosan Road if you want to party.
Great location in a quiet street close to restaurants and the river.
Excellent place to stay in Bangkok and visit main lively areas.

Highly recommended great value for money in the center of Bangkok.
When I return to Thailand, this will be my first stop.
Boutique stay in the perfect spot for exploring the city

Great Boutique Hotel within walking distance to Khao San Road.
Gorgeous property located in the heart of Old Bangkok.
Location is great lots of activity near by

Tranquility in a vibrant area of Bangkok
The location in Bangkok is great
Great hotel in the center area

Breakfast: What guests say
View DE Phanakron Boutique Hotel100 relevant reviews
Breakfast is usually a standout: freshly prepared à la carte sets offer Thai, Asian and Western choices, generous portions, and frequent extras; guests especially praise the Thai breakfast and French toast. There is no buffet, and choices generally must be made the night before. A few guests found the options limited or the food disappointing, including a complaint about poor eggs Benedict and instant coffee.

Breakfast is included and you select from a set the night before, but it's supplemented with so many extras you feel like you've had a buffet. The food is high quality, coffee and tea is good and the crockery is beautiful.
The breakfast was also excellent. There was a choice of six different sets, such as a traditional Thai or Chinese breakfast consisting of many small dishes. European and American options were also available, but I didn’t try them.
The à la carte breakfast is also highly recommended. There’s no standard buffet, just freshly prepared, high-quality dishes presented with care. It’s wonderful to start the day this way!

The breakfast was not good. There is so much amazing food in Thailand it was a real disappointment to have lumpy soupy hollandaise sauce on our eggs benedict.
They did get our breakfast order a little mixed up but the food was really good and the service was great which made up for the mix up
Even though we had a very early flight and had to leave at 4am, they were ready with a boxed breakfast

And let me tell you, the breakfast spread is something to behold - it is an experience in and of itself!
Having to specify in advance what you would like for breakfast the next morning may be difficult for some people.
Breakfast was great. You are given several options the day before to make your choice. The French toast was amazing!

Breakfast, served à la carte, was excellent, very complete and plentiful, and always enhanced by a surprise Thai delicacy.
The breakfast was wonderful as we ordered the traditional Thai breakfast, but the English breakfast looked great as well.
We needed to leave early for our flight and they gave us a packed breakfast to take with us.

On our departure date they thoughtfully packed us our breakfast to go which was a really nice touch!
The breakfasts were a la carte with a Thai twist and set us up for a day's sightseeing.
The breakfast was excellent, we enjoyed it a lot (you can choose what you want the day before).

Varied breakfast selection, well prepared. Particularly loved the black grass jelly to finish, I’m hooked on it now.
Every day a delicious breakfast is served with different choice of omelettes, fresh fruits, eggs, toast etc.
Breakfasts are included and plentiful, but need to be reviewed by the chef who knows her trade.

The breakfast menu needs to be selected the day before, but honestly, that’s no big deal.
They took such care and attention to look after my gluten and dairy free diet.
And the breakfast in particular was delicious and generous (both choice and quantity)

Breakfast is excellent and plentiful, with several options to choose from!
It would keep you going for most of the day.
FOOD - DELICIOUS breakfast menu has such great selection.

Breakfast was delicious and different to the norm.
Amazing breakfast and the just keeps coming!!
Breakfast was exceptional—beautifully presented and delicious.

Breakfast was great (recommend Thai breakfast)
And the breakfast was excellent.
Very good breakfast was included.

Facilities: What guests say
View DE Phanakron Boutique Hotel64 relevant reviews
Guests repeatedly praise the hotel’s distinctive, quirky decor, historic Sino-Portuguese/colonial-style architecture, charming courtyard and communal spaces, and excellent cleanliness. It is pet-friendly, but has no elevator, and some guests found facilities limited or in need of upgrades. One guest reported blocked exit routes and a missing fire alarm; others mentioned occasional renovation noise and unreliable Wi-Fi.

You had to pass through the front tea room in order to enter or exit the hotel which I was not fond of. According to our map there were two pathways around the tea room that could be utilized as an exit however, they were both blocked off when we were there full of stored furniture it appeared.
In the event of a fire, we had quite a long, and limited way to go, to escape. Additionally, when we looked up at the ceiling, the fire alarm had been removed.
We appreciated the fact that renovations were being undertaken during our stay but the team completing the renovations were very considerate and there was no inconvenience experienced during this time.

Best to message the property advance if you are a person needs to be located in a room level without climbing up stairs. No elevator 😅
The tea room and guest rooms were full of stuff... to the point that it was overwhelming and overstimulating.
There was a living room my boys hung out in, the front entrance restaurant was welcoming and comfortable.

The Christmas decorations in the lobby/dining area were way past their relevant timeline and were creepy and imposing.
It was like a home away from home :) Loved the dog gathering in the tea room...so CUTE!
Cleanliness and style, I have genuinely not seen surpassed in 5 and 6 star hotels throughout the world.

We were allowed to use the showers for a small extra charge before our late flight.
Poor internet system, you have to re-enter login and psw each time you leave the room.
The hotel was very comfortable and different from where I had stayed in the concrete jungle.

Huge props to the whoever designs the interiors- walking through the beautifully designed spaces (
It was very unique style and design definitely on the eccentric end of the scale
It’s a little bit cramped but that’s also the style of the building g

Lobby and entrance way decorations were Xmas themed when not Xmas and too fussy.
Entrance was always locked therefore someone had to unlock to allow you entry -
My only minor complaint is that the wifi required you to continually log in.

Plus they dont have any smoking lounges or spots which was little hassle.
The design of the entire hotel, as well as the decoration, is unique.
The hotel is beautiful, with elegant colonial-style architecture and charming details throughout,

The place is very cool with quirky designs. Also very relaxing.
The interior design is something out of the ordinary.
Unique and elegant decor in the communal areas

The hotel is full of vintage charm
Unfortunately, the espresso machine was broken.
The hotel is super duper clean

Architecture in the Sino-Portuguese style.
And no elevator.
And clean.

Food is repeatedly praised as delicious or superb, including restaurant meals and breakfast; one guest singled out the chef’s Tom Yam soup. Restaurant dining was described as outstanding but more expensive than common local options. One reviewer found the tea room unusually empty.

On the first day, we ordered lunch and all the dishes were grat, special thanks to the chef for his Tom Yam soup!
I ate in the restaurant, and the food was outstanding, but more expensive than more common eating spots.
And prepare delicious food for my to try and not to miss on authentic Thai food.

I also thought it was weird that the tea room never had customers in it.
Restaurant, library and of course, the rooms you really feel transported back in time.
Breakfast and meals at the restaurants were delicious.

And works also as an excellent tea house.
Special menu for the little dog.
The hotel dining is also superb.

Was more like a restaurant.
And food was just superb!
The food is amazing,

With fabulous food
3.Foods so delicious.
Superb food

Great food
Excellent food.
And food

Fabulous food.

Airport transfers can be arranged smoothly, and taxis or Grab are available, but reaching the hotel by cab can be difficult on narrow one-way streets; some drivers cancelled and ride-hailing added costs. The hotel is not close to BTS, though river and canal boat stops are about a 10-minute walk away and offer a useful way to explore.

The riverboat and canal boat stops are only a 10-minute walk away, making it incredibly easy to get around and explore the city's many attractions without sitting in traffic jam.
Took a boat ride to the Flower Markets and China Town. The boat ride is easy to take and you get to see the sites along the way.
It was hard getting a cab because there are a lot of narrow one way streets there. Had 3 cabs cancel on me.

We were off to the airport so did not have time to really make the most of it.
There are tuk tuks close by, and you can easily call a grab whenever needed.
But equally easy to get a taxi from when we wanted to go crazy.

We particularly used and enjoyed the hop on hop off boat they recommended.
They can also arrange taxis to and from the airport for you.
However, it’s in a black hole of Bangkok’s public transport network.

It ended up costing us a bit in GrabCar fees.
Taxi drivers had no problem, except one guy using Grab.
And a driver, and we left even before 4am.

The airport transfer was arranged smoothly.
- not close to BTS links
They organized our airport transfer

They organized our transfers

Cold drink and little cake on arrival and you'll do the check in from where you're sat, very relaxed.
They even kindly stored our bags after checkout while we went sightseeing, which made a huge difference.
And after sometime I left the hotel and checked in to a real 5 star hotel

They let us drop our bags off as we arrived early in the morning.
The service was excellent at check in and check out for our early flight.
My flight took off late at night and after checking out

From the warm check-in with a cold drink and biscuit,
Extended our check out time with no additional fee :)
The check-in experience was exceptionally warm and nice.

We had to leave before flight next day
We checked out at 4:30am

Only thing and not even a big deal is wish there was a little pool,
Currently no pool - but they plan to add one.
- no pool

Like a pool
